Kayden’s pov

Dinner felt long tonight.

I could tell something was off with Mira.

She had sat close to Jamie and both of them had looked like sunshine and cloud.

I knew what a forced smile looked like and mira had that throughout dinner . Through the bond I could feel the hurt radiating off of Mira like a nauseating odor. I kept my gaze pinned to my food as well and ate my fill but I never for one second took my eyes off of her even when I wasn’t looking directly at her.

Our parents talked about their meetings, about how they’d mixed both sides of the pack. They laughed and teased as if we weren’t there, hearing nothing. Jamie described her weekly trip to the grocery store for fresh produce, Mira bobbing her head. Everything was not fine.

After dinner was over, everyone went wherever they wanted to go and I went to mine.
