Lyra's POV

Something doesn’t sit right with me about Kevin. I can’t explain it, but the way he looked at me… it wasn’t curiosity, It was calculation.

I thought I was the one playing him, riding along with his plan, but now it seems to me that I'm the one being played.

Perhaps he was playing Ravenna just the same way he had played me when I was in my body.

But I can guarantee he will be shocked this time around because I won't let him have his way with anything.

And Ruth, why would she care so much about Orion’s death when she was the one who handed me over to him? That woman doesn’t do anything unless it benefits her.

I want to know if anything connects them. There must be something. I just can't feel any association.
