Kate's POV

I couldn't resist the bloodlust curling wide inside my chest.

A low snarl escaped my mouth as my body trembled with unnatural rage.

Keto stood ahead of me, broad and calm like a tree that wouldn’t bend no matter how hard I pushed.

But I wasn’t going to push, I was going to tear him apart.

He had released me earlier to fight some men I didn't recognize, but I wasn't interested in those men; I was interested in him.

Without thinking, I lunged at him, claws bared and jaw wide.

He moved faster than I could track. A blur. A crack in my throat. The world flipped, and I hit the ground with a bone-deep thud.

Pain exploded through my body. My vision swam, and I coughed, gasping like a fish out of water.

I hated him for being stronger. I hated how small I felt.

Keto stood over me, not angry, just… calm. That made it worse.

“You’ve got a lot to learn before you can fight someone like me, Kate,” he said, crouching beside me. “You have strength, but no discipline. Rage won’t win battles
