MasukLevi held Kaliyah firmly as he leapt out the window in one smooth motion, his body moving like she weighed nothing at all.
The wind rushed past them as they soared down, and then he landed gracefully, like a shadow falling from the sky. His feet touched the pavement with barely a sound, and he was still carrying her… princess style. Kaliyah clung to his neck tightly, her arms locked around him in instinctual fear. Her heart was thudding in her chest from the sudden movement. "What…what are you doing?" she gasped, looking up at him, still in his arms. "I'm taking you with me," he said in a low, steady voice. “Somewhere safe.” Kaliyah ’s eyes widened. “But… Don…And Kate is knocking at the door. She's going to realize I’m not there. I’ll get into trouble!” She was already panicking, her voice breaking slightly as she squirmed in his hold. Levi tightened his grip and pressed her closer to his chest, as if shielding her from the chaos they’d left behind. “I’m not leaving you in there with those people my love.” She opened her mouth to speak again, but the sound of Kate’s voice still shouting from the house sent a chill down her spine. The banging on the door hadn't stopped. Then Levi looked down at her again, his eyes glowing slightly under the moonlight. “I’ll protect you.” Her breath hitched. “But… where are we going?” Levi didn’t answer right away. He just turned and started walking down the dark path between the trees, carrying her like she was the most fragile thing he’d ever touched. “I found my precious mate after so long,” Levi murmured, voice low but full of fire, “and you think I’ll leave you here for one more minute? Especially after seeing how they treat you?” Kaliyah ’s eyes widened. She opened her mouth, unsure if she should argue or ask a thousand questions but before she could get a single word out, Levi leaned in close and whispered, “Hang on tight.” And then, he moved, with so much speed. The speed was unreal. Air whipped past her face like a storm that she couldn’t keep her eyes open. Everything around them blurred, the trees, shadows, moonlight streaking through the woods. Her grip tightened around his neck, It felt like they were flying. It felt like being stolen away by something dangerous and safe all at once. Meanwhile, back in the room, Don finally groaned and pulled himself up from the cold floor, his face swollen and sore. He stumbled to the door, twisting the lock with trembling fingers. Kate burst in almost immediately. Her eyes fell on his face, it was bruised, swollen and red, her brows furrowed in shock and growing anger. “What the hell happened to you?” “It was… Kaliyah.” Don winced, holding the side of his face. Kate blinked. “Kaliyah did this to you?” “No,” he snapped, clearly offended by the suggestion. “Her boyfriend or something. Some guy. He… he came in, and…” Don held his head again, still in a daze. “He took her and jumped out the damn window with her like it was nothing.” Kate froze. “What?” She asked slowly, like her brain needed a moment to believe the words. “You mean… you were in here, and some random man came into this house, took Kaliyah, and jumped out the window?” Don nodded, his face twisting with humiliation. “He was… he was immensely strong, he gave me one blow and I swear, it almost knocked me out. And I don’t even think he used his full strength.” Kate stepped back, her face pale now, her thoughts racing. Her mouth opened, but no words came out. *** The wind stung Kaliyah’s cheeks as Levi moved with inhuman speed, the world around her was a blur of shadows and trees. Her arms tightened around his neck, holding on for dear life. “Am I too fast for you?” he asked, his voice low and oddly calm despite the rush of motion. Kaliyah could barely nod, her eyes squeezed shut from the wind. He slowed instantly, and she felt the sharp shift from a wild sprint to a graceful jog, and then finally, to a full stop. “We’re already here,” he said softly. She blinked her eyes open to see that they were at the edge of the forest, the same one that led into the Werewolf Territory. The same forest where they had met just hours ago. Levi didn’t stop. He walked forward, still carrying her in his arms. Her heart pounded faster, now out of confusion, not fear. She looked up at him, eyes wide. “Where… where are you taking me?” He glanced down at her. “Home,” he said simply. She stilled. “Home?” Then her voice sharpened. “Your home? You mean… werewolves? You’re taking me to where the werewolves live?” Panic bloomed in her chest. She wriggled against him, slipping from his arms. Levi didn’t resist, he gently let her down. But the moment her feet touched the forest floor, a cold wave rolled over her. Her body already missed the heat of his touch. How was that even possible? She wrapped her arms around herself, shivering slightly. Levi stepped toward her, before his hands gently encircled her waist and pulled her against him again. “You don’t have to be scared,” he murmured, his voice softer now, coaxing her. “I’m taking you somewhere safe. I’ll protect you. I’ll never hurt you, Kaliyah.” She looked up into his eyes, those deep, intense eyes that somehow felt more like home than anything she’d ever known. “You’re my mate,” he said. “I’ve waited so many years to find you. I’m not leaving you here, not for another minute.” Something in his voice cracked through her walls. Kaliyah’s chest tightened. Her life with Kate hadn’t been a life. It had been survival, misery and isolation. She didn’t even live like a person, let alone a daughter. And yet this stranger, this wolf man, was looking at her like she was everything. Her lips parted to speak but before she could say anything, the sharp rustle of leaves behind them stole the words from her mouth. She spun around, only to find a figure standing at the edge of the trees, half-shrouded in shadow. And then, the figure stepped forward.Levi slowly lifted his head from her lap and turned to face her, his gaze locking onto hers with a hint of a smirk. Then, he pointed to his lips.“Here.”Kaliyah’s mouth parted slightly. Her eyes widened just a little. This man was unbelievable, and he made her heart race like nothing else. Her lips twitched. “Do you… want me to scratch it?”His smile deepened, lazy and charming. “Yes,” he said, leaning in a bit closer. “With your lips.”He was so close now, close enough that she could feel the soft warmth of his breath caressing her skin, she could see every speck of blue in his intense eyes. Her breath caught in her throat, suddenly feeling heat spread through her body. She didn’t even know when she became like this, when she started wanting to melt under his touch, wanting to…Kiss him.Levi leaned in even closer. Their lips were barely a whisper apart now. Her heart thudded against her ribs, as though it was trying to escape her chest and run straight into him.“Kaliyah,” he murmu
Her hand moved to his cheek, and he leaned into her touch.“I am,” he admitted. His voice was quiet, but the weight in it was unmistakable. “I’m not going to rest until I find out who did this. And when I do…” His jaw tensed. “They’ll pay.”But before he could say more, Kaliyah leaned forward and wrapped her arms around him.He froze for half a second as he was caught off guard.“I know you will,” she whispered against his shoulder. “But stop being so upset. I don’t like it when you get mad.”Her hand slid into his hair, stroking it gently, as if taming both the man and the beast beneath.A faint smirk curled at the corner of Levi’s lips. His mate… was calming him, trying to soothe him.And it was working, he felt his wolf stir in contentment under her touch, quieted by her presence. When she finally pulled back, she gently cupped his face in her palms and pressed a soft kiss to his forehead.Levi’s eyes widened slightly. He hadn’t expected that, and for a second, he just stared at he
‘Bring some food up for Kaliyah. Now.’‘Yes, Alpha.’ came her immediate response, and he cut the link.He continued holding Kaliyah. But his blood boiled underneath his calm exterior.Inside the packhouse, someone had done this. Someone was fully aware that she was the Alpha's mate, and yet still pulled such a stunt. He clenched his jaw tighter, keeping the rage under the surface as his hands gently stroked her back, and his lips pressed against her forehead.A few minutes later, a soft knock came at the door. Felicia entered carefully, carrying a tray of warm food. She placed it on the table beside the bed.Levi looked at Kaliyah gently. “It’s time to eat, my love. You need something in your stomach.”She nodded slowly, tucking her hair behind her ears. He rose up, wiping the last of her tears with his thumb.“Don’t cry anymore, okay? I’ll be back in a bit. I just need to check on a few things.”She nodded again. Before leaving, Levi turned to Felicia. “Make sure she eats something.”
He turned sharply and called out to the two guards nearby. “Has the Luna left the packhouse at all this morning?”Both guards shook their heads. “No, Alpha. We’ve been here all morning. No one left.”“Good. Get two more men and start searching every inch of the packhouse. Now!”“Yes, Alpha,” they said before quickly taking off in opposite directions.Levi turned a corner, the tension in his chest thickening. But then he heard a scream, a faint, muffled scream. It was his mate!He stilled. His heart jolted. “...Mate,” he whispered.Ray and Oliver looked at him. “What did you say?” Oliver asked.“I heard her,” Levi said again, louder this time. And then he abruptly moved fast, toward the sound, following the invisible string tugging at his core.He reached a door, and behind it he heard her cries and the thud of her fist against the door.Levi’s heart clenched. He gripped the knob and tried to turn it, but it was locked.“Kaliyah!” he called out, his voice filled with urgency.Inside,
The voice replied in a calm tone. “Yes, I do. This way.”Her eyes lingered on the figure for a bit too long. There was something strange about him. But in her heart, all she wanted was to find Levi. So she followed. The figure led her quietly through another corridor, one she hadn’t taken often before stopping at a plain wooden door.“He came back very late last night,” the figure said. “Around midnight, I think. He’s inside. You should go see him.”Kaliyah nodded slowly. “Thank you,” she said, though she was still trying to place who this person was. She didn’t remember ever seeing someone like that around the packhouse, and certainly not in a cloak. She walked up to the door, slowly turned the knob, and stepped inside. The room was dimly lit by a narrow window. She looked around and discovered it was empty. There was a desk. Two burlap sacks lying in the corner. The space was barely furnished. Dust clung to the corners of the room. “Maybe he made a mistake,” she whispered to hersel
She stirred slightly, and then opened her eyes to see Oliver standing beside her. “It’s past 9 p.m. already,” he said softly, “You should go upstairs and rest.” Kaliyah blinked a few times, the fog of sleep still clearing from her eyes. She sat up slowly and looked around, noticing the dark sky outside the window. The house was dim now, most of the lights switched off. Her brows furrowed. “Is Levi back yet?” Oliver hesitated. She turned her gaze to him more intently now. He scratched the back of his head and gave a faint smile, the kind that didn't reach his eyes. “No… he’s not back yet.” Her expression shifted, her lips pressing into a thin line as a quiet worry passed through her eyes. Oliver noticed and gave a small chuckle, trying to ease her concern. “Hey, don’t worry. Maybe he’s just… caught up with something. He’ll be back soon.” She looked at him deeply. And then, softly, she said, “Don’t lie to me.” Oliver’s smile faded. He looked away slightly, letting out
Her eyes landed on the full-length mirror by the door. And when she looked closely, she almost didn't recognize herself. Her cheeks were flushed, her dark hair fell wet and shiny down her back, clinging to her shoulders and arms. Her skin looked clearer, smoother, glowing softly from the steam and
Levi ran his fingers through her hair, brushing it off her face with care.“If you're not comfortable answering,” he said softly, “you don’t have to say anything, at least not right away.”Kaliyah nodded slowly. Then Levi asked quietly, “Who was the woman you bumped into when you left the forest?”
The moment Levi saw them, he didn’t say anything. He simply turned and continued walking down the hall. Ray and Oliver simply followed behind him. They reached the balcony. The cool night breeze brushed gently against their faces, rustling the trees below and carrying the soft sounds of the pack f
Kaliyah instinctively clutched Levi’s shirt tighter, her eyes locked on the approaching figure. “You really had to come here,” Levi said, his tone calm, not hostile, more like someone mildly inconvenienced by a familiar face. The figure came into a clear view. He had tousled dark hair that curled
