CHAPTER SIXTY-NINE

ZEPHYR'S POV

This is the first time in my life I had ever felt so guilty. And the first time, I couldn't drink. Damn it, when it comes to Taylor It's always so different.

I got out the kitchen, abandoning the venture to find something tomout in my mouth. I settled for TV instead. Perhaps I could find the right distraction. I turned it on and went looking for popcorn.

Taylor had them stocked mnesr the microwave. I pulled out a few and a note fell from the pile.

‘Don’t take too much’ was written on it, in her handwriting. I huffed, dropping it into the pile. Damn it. Everything reminds me of her. Of last night. Maybe I should have tried harder. Unlike me, she is absolutely more than eager to be free if this marriage. I heaved. Quite a while ago, I realized that I didn't do much hate it like I thought I did. Maybe this is really my….

*Ding dong*

The door bell rang. I turned sharply, abandoning the popcorn. Taylor is back. Thank the goddess. I strode to the door and swu

TAYLOR’S POV Resha’s mother got us all out the underground room through a different tunnel. According to her, it was built so that once in, everyone in was locked in and could not leave until someone in and someone out opened the door together. I thought it was a very brilliant construct. Imagine if the outside wasn’t safe then throw king would never be able to go outside and meet his doom accidentally. No one outside could come to the king too. If someone dared to follow through log in to kill him, he had no way out. And with the way the insides of this place is built, not many who dare to follow the king in here to kill him can succeed. “Is there a place like this in the wolf kingdom?” Zulu calm yet still charming and deep, voice drew me out of my reverie. I glanced over my shoulders to see him looking in the direction of the underground and staring as though he has seen an ancient artifact. “We have an escape route but it’s nothing as good as this. Wolves are very proud creatu

TAYLOR’S POV“Zephyr is out. He is wounded badly and he can’t even help himself talk more of us. And we need him. He is an alpha. His strength is three times the whole Lycan royal guards out together.”Oscala dropped his head a bit, everything about that action of his told me he was certain we were down by one man. “We just need to wait another day for him to recover. I will arrange it, I will…”“Taylor.” he cut me off abruptly. His eyes wore a weaken look on them. His voice and his appearance made me realize immediately that I was fidgeting and it was obvious. “I know you are afraid. Frankly we all are. Zephyr is one of greatest weapon and we can’t use him its making our loss more likely then we hopped but we have to fill in his absence. We have to go on. I can neutralize the power of the elixir if I get to it in time before he drinks it and once I do that, his true form will be revealed. Many who think he is the Lycan king will back away, leaving us with fewer persons to face the

TAYLOR’S POV“Zephyr. I’m so sorry.” I apologized again, one of my eyes twisted. Imagining how much pain he was about to face made my shudder. Resha brought his a nice clean towel. He bit down on it, gripping onto the sides of the bed. On a good day, that position would have riled me up and rocked my body with sensations of excitement but right now, it only made a my heart ache. I scooped some of the gel-like substance with three fingers and I smudged it on the wound, using my thumb to evenly smoothen the paste. Zephyr groaned, the bed frame contracting. He was trying to fight the urge to scream but he couldn’t . His face had the sign of fear on every corner. His grip tightened more and more, the bed frame cracking and the sound of it echoing through the room. At a point I had to turn to the she-lycan and yell. “What kind of pain reliever is this?! He is far worse than he has been. Are you trying to kill him or something?!”“Patience child. It is working it way up to that.” My e

TAYLOR’S POV“Oh dear goddess.” I turned,. Looking at Zephyr. He was chin tight, which face squeezed in pain. His eyes had started to redden. He was in terrible pain and it wasn’t going away.“We need to do something about his pain. Please tell me that you know how to do that. We can talk about how he got hurt latter.” I reverted my attention to the healer in front of me. She was quiet, staring at me. From the uneasy way she sucked in each breath, I could tell she didn’t know how to stop it. My heart sank, tears filling my eyes. I gasped. “Oh heaven, you don’t know how do you?” She waved her head. “I’m sorry. I really wish I can do more but I’ve never treated anyone with wounds that were inflicted by dark magic. I only know what it looks like.” I stood up, ghostly walking to her. I gripped her head, tears rolled down my cheeks. “Your mother, she can do something right? Come on tell me something, anything at all as doing as its helpful. Please. I can’t let him die. He can’t die!”

TAYLOR’S POV“Right this way.” She said, leading us into a house far away from the entrance and the tents they had pitched for the sick. “You will all be safe in here. Even the sorcerer’s magic cannot sense you here.” She assured us. The house was a very old establishment but it was clean and tidy like someone had been putting in the effort to ensure that tan empty house like this was still inhabitable. There obviously had to be a good reason why. “The rooms here should be enough for all of you. Are the soldiers staying too?” she inquired, trying to lift a table so we could pass. Zulu hurried to her, taking it from her.“I need you soldiers to be our eyes and ears on the street. So I’m afraid you guys can’t wait here.”“No problem My king. We know our mission. We never intended to sheath our swords and lay them down. My king we will return with news at that same hour as your friend. Till then.” They bowed and left. Only Zephyr, Zulu, I and Resha were left in the house. Zephyr pic

TAYLOR’S POVI let go, staggering back. My eyes laced with shock. I… I actually killed him, with my bare hands. I couldn’t leave him here, out in the open. I grabbed him and rolled him into that bushes, covering his up. I picked up the clothes on the floor, folded them all up pretty well and hurried on towards the others. The close I got the stronger their scent became. I was running and perhaps that’s why they hid. They had heard my footsteps. I can closer and closer to our hideout then, when I felt I was near enough, I attempted to call out their names. But the instant my lips parted, someone grabbed me from behind. My heart sank immediately. I struggled, clawing at his arms, screaming Zephyr’s name in my head. The Lycan groaned and instantly I knew who it was. Its been a long time since I had crossed paths with him but somehow I managed to remember. I stopped struggling immediately. He let me go. I spun around. He was nursing his injured arm. I kicked him too.“Aww.” His voice
