Prologue

*third person’s POV*

I have a secret.

Some might think I am delusional…

Or I am just making thinks up.

But I would know…

Because I was there……

I would never forget that night.

I haven’t seen anything like it.

I was a rouge that time.

I was caught and held captive by the alpha of this pack. They put me in their underground cell which smelled like rotten flesh and molds.

I was disgusted of that place that’s why I made plans on how to escape as soon as possible.

After two days of planning, I finally succeeded.

But what I witnessed was far beyond my expectation.

As I find my way out the prison cells, I stopped and froze.

There was a gruesome fight between two packs.

It was a night of endless cries of pain, blood scattered everywhere and the constant snapping of bones and low growls from the fighting wolves.

“Are they under attack?” I asked myself watching the scene unfolds before my eyes.

I scan the place not minding what is happening.

This isn’t my fight. I have to focus on escaping before anyone sees me.

But as I did, my eyes fell on the woman on the far end of the field where trees are lined up.

She was bleeding heavily but what caught my eye was the figure that she was holding.

It was a baby.

Without second thought I rushed to her side forgetting my plan to escape.

But as I ran towards her, I smelled something different.

An unfamiliar smell.

She’s not a wolf.

“Are you okay?” I asked her. Not minding the scent that she was giving away.

Fear was evident on her hazel eyes but was replaced with something more like urgency.

She must have sensed that I am not with the pack that attacked them.

“Pl-please. My b-baby.” She tried hard to speak.

She gently kissed the forehead of the baby and saw a red mark slowly forming where her lips landed.

I was just staring wide eyed.

“Hide my baby.” She said once more while pushing her baby to me.

I don’t know what to do, but maternal instinct kicks in and hurriedly hugged the child who was fast asleep on my arm.

I was about to stand up when the woman reached out to my arm and with a great force steadied me.

She gripped my arm and all I can do was stare at her eyes for a moment.

And then suddenly I saw a faint smile on her lips before she closed her eyes.

That’s when I ran.

I ran as fast as I can.

I don’t know what was happening but one thing is for sure.

I am not going back to that place ever again.
