Riley's door is banged open from outside by a tall and extremely handsome man. She is startled to see a strange man looming over her with an imposing figure. But his gaze is gentle and filled with full of love and adoration directed toward her.

Before Riley could ask him who he is, her nostrils tingled with a mouthwatering woodsy masculine scent, which made her wolf come awake with excitement. 

'Mate, he is our mate' her wolf began to jump up and down with joy.

"Mate" he confirmed what she already know.

Riley became overwhelmed with joy. Like every other wolf out there, she too dreamt about the moment when she would meet her mate. Her mate looks more handsome than she ever thought about.

"Mate" she whispered with joy.

Her mate encased her in his arms protectively. Riley hugged him back. But slowly reality came crashing down, wiping the smile off her face. 

"No, you have to go away from here. David, the Alpha of this pack is ruthless. Go away before anyone could see you here" Riley urged her mate. She saw how ruthless David is and he will let her mate live if he finds out that he came to visit her.

But to her horror, her mate shook his head and refused to leave.

"No, Riley. I cannot leave my mate in the hands of that monster. I can help you escape. Come on, let's go" her mate urged.

She shook her head.

"If i wanted to escape from here, then i would have done that the moment i woke up. But i decided to stay knowing very well what i am getting into. I have to stay here. I cannot come until the moment i kill him. The killer of my parents" she confessed.

Her mate looked at her with horror.

"Riley, what are talking about? This is his pack. The moment you kill him, you will die as well. They will not let you go alive" he tried to reason with her.

But Riley is dead set to kill David.

"If that's the case, then so be it. That monster doesn't have any right to stay alive. He should be punished for his sins" she argued.

Her mate looked at her sadly.

"Then what about me? Why am i being punished? Losing your mate just a few days after you found her is the worst kind of punishment any wolf could get. I would die if something happens to you" he begged her.

Riley frowned, as she began to understand what he is trying to tell her. She is so hell-bent on killing David, that she didn't think about her mate. He is right. He doesn't deserve to be punished for her thirst to avenge her parents.

When her mate saw that she is thinking, he began to coax her softly.

"Lets me help you now. You run away from here. I will kill David and come find you in your pack" he promised her.

Riley reluctantly nodded her head. Her mate became happy and hugged her. But their happiness didn't last long. A sudden commotion outside caught their attention.

"Catch them and kill them. They are planning to kill the Alpha" someone said. The entire pack found out why Riley came here.

Immediately a group of guards rushed inside her small room and captured her mate. When they tried to touch Riley, her mate growled and began to fight them. 

"Run Riley" he yelled when the warriors began to suppress him to the ground.

"No" Riley tried to help, but her mate pushed her towards the door.

"Run" he urged her.

Reluctantly Riley ran. Just when she was about to cross the threshold of her room, she turned and saw that her mate is stabbed.

"Nooooo" Riley woke up from her sleep. Her forehead is sweating and her heart is pounding. She looked at her surroundings and noticed that she is sitting on her small bed and her room is empty. There is no commotion from outside as well. Its quiet.

"It was a dream?" she thought out loud. She wiped away the precipitation from her forehead and sipped some water from the side table.

Thinking back about her dream, she couldn't help but feel it was ridiculous.

"Those silly maids and their gossips. How stupid is this? They thought that their young master's mate is lucky and i imagined to be his mate? Since when did i begin to dream about men like a teenager?" she thought with a frown.

She looked out of the small window and saw that it was still early. But she is not sleepy anymore.  Dread settled in her stomach when she realized what is going to happen today.

'Today is the mating ceremony. He is going to force me tonight and i have to bear it all ' she thought feeling and a heavyweight settled in her heart. She gripped her makeshift weapon tightly.

'Either you will die today, or a part of me will die completely' she thought.

She decided to have a shower and get rid of these heavy thoughts which are suffocating her and forcing her to break down and cry. She hid her weapon under her pillow safely and locked herself inside the small bathroom. She stood under the hot spray fully clothed. She doesn't know how long she stood there, but she turned off the shower when cold water began to spray from the shower jets.

She discarded her now wet clothes and tied a white towel around her naked body. When she stepped out of the bathroom, she stopped dead in her tracks.

The maid who brings her meals regularly is now standing in front of the bed with Riley's makeshift weapon holding in her hands.

Riley's heart is pounding like a drum. She can hear it with her ears. The maid is simply looking at her while holding her weapon in her hand. 

'What should i do now? She will tell me about this to David. He will not leave me alive after this. What should i do?' Riley began to wonder.

Before she could panic, maid Sophie removed something from her maid uniform pocket. Just by the smell that wafted from that little packet, Riley can tell that it is wolf's bane. A highly toxic substance for any wolf. Wolfs can easily die with wolf's bane. If it is injected inside the body, then death would come faster.

"Drench your weapon with this wolfsbane" the maid offered.
