Chapter 10

Freja watched the sun rise above a snow bank while she waited for Zarek to finish his business.

Pale pinks and blues painted the sky as the sun rose behind them, the bright orb waking everything that slept. Golden rays washed across Freja as she stood in a beam that cast through the trees, lighting up her body. She practically glowed.

The sun hadn’t shown in three long days. Thanks to the storm Zarek and Freja had to extend their stay at the inn.

For the rest of their stay they avoided touching again, Zarek choosing to sleep on the floor instead, much to her annoyance. Here and there was the occasional brushing of skin against skin momentarily, the small touch alone igniting sparks between the two. Freja had been on the last straw when she sun finally broke through the blizzard, the rays of light bringing her escape with it.
