LOGINThe rest of the lunch went well. It honestly felt natural. Susan is so easy to get along with, I felt like I’ve known her my whole life. Now, I’m at the healers, his face grim after doing another whatever the fuck he does to me.“No better I take it.”He sighs frustrated. “You’re not dying. Just not fucking healing either.”My head tilts, “What do you think that’s all about? I mean I know I’m not your usual clientele, but it can’t be that different.” I tell him, and he takes a deep breath. “There’s definitely a difference, but I’ve worked on humans before. This is something else. It’s like there’s something keeping me from being able to heal you.”“So… I’m unhealable?” I joke, scoffing out a laugh, “Sounds about right.”“No. You’re missing something.” My head snaps towards the door as Colt walks through anger written all over his face.My eyes narrow, “What the hell are you doing here?” I snap, and his eyes narrow on mine. “Well, if you refuse to tell the Alphas about this, then you’r
One of my favorite things to do, other then spend time with my mate when she’s not hating us.My fist slams into the side of Marcus’s face. Orion doesn’t normally join Colt and I down here, but apparently, he makes an exception when our mates involved. He moves closer to Marcus, a feral side of him coming out, that I rarely see. “Who else feels this way, Marcus?” His voice is calm, but everything about his posture says the opposite.Marcus is lucky to still be alive after talking to our mate like that. Maybe we should talk to Justine next. Clearly, they think we’ll let it slide because we let her comment go.I’m not worried though, he’s going to die along with any name he gives up. We won’t allow this level of disrespect in our pack. We’ve worked too hard to ensure this pack is a place everyone feels welcome. We even have humans living here, I guess it’s just a big deal now because one of them are in power. Even though she’s never even tried to use an ounce of her power before today.
The next morning, I get out of bed, moving to the shower and finishing what I started last night. And when I come out dressed and ready to go to lunch, because apparently, I slept in forever, the new enforcer is standing in the middle of the room, waiting. My eyes move over him, but I don’t say anything. “Thea this is Marcus. Your new enforcer.” Marcus nods in greeting, staying silent as well. His build is almost as large as Colt’s, but he’s not as tall. His red hair and shaggy beard, make me question if he wouldn’t be a target more then a protecter. My mind flashes an image of an arrow pointed at the red of his hair.I shake my head, having no idea where that came from.I walk over to Orion’s desk, grabbing my purse, and then start heading for the door. Cyrus grabs me before I make it to the door. His eyes search mine as one arm wraps around my waist and the other pushes my hair behind my ear. “If you're not feeling up to this, we can call our mother.” He suggests and I shake my head
“What was wrong with him? He looked… Rabid.” I ask Orion as I sit on the couch and they both stand in front of me.Orion sighs frustrated, “It’s… It’s something that can happen. When a vampire loses his mate.” He explains. My eyes fall, “They go crazy…”Orion nods.“We should have locked him up long before now.” Cyrus grunts, Orion shakes his head. “He just recently started getting worse.”My head snaps up to them, “Since I’ve been here?”Orion nods, “I don’t think seeing someone who looks so much like his mate has been making things any easier on him. Especially since he doesn’t believe she’s dead.”My eyes widen, “He doesn’t?” Orion shakes his head, “He says there’s still a thread. Like he can still feel her.”I sigh deeply, then look over at the window. “That must be hard. What do you think he meant? If my mom wasn’t a wolf, what was she?” I ask Orion, and he looks down, “We don’t know. He won’t talk to any of us.”I nod, standing up and walking over to the window, “Only me?” I ask
“Oh, hell. You clearly met my father.” Polly jokes as we walk up to the table she seems to be waiting for us at, outside the coffee shop. She slides a coffee towards me once we all sit down.Jacob grunts, “Guess I’ll get my own.” He jokes, then looks over at Colt. “You want anything?”Colt shakes his head, his eyes on high alert as he continues looking around the area. Polly looks over at him, “What’s your problem?” She asks, and Colt doesn’t even look at her, just tightens his jaw.I roll my eyes leaning back into the seat. “He’s freaking out because Jacob managed to sneak up on us.” I inform her and her eyes widen. Her gaze moving back to him. He doesn’t acknowledge what I said, just ignores both of us.I look over at him worried, but Polly pulls my attention back to her. “So, I’m guessing it didn’t go over well.” She says, and I scoff. “Your dad hates me. Thinks I tried to start a war between the packs.” I tell her, and she shakes her head. “That was my brothers.” She states and I
“Told ya.” I joke, as I smile up at Colt. He walks next to me on the sidewalk.I honestly have no idea where we’ve ended up, but I don’t really care at the moment. He looks down at me, raising an eyebrow. “You think that was him not liking you?” He asks. I shrug, “Seemed that way.”He laughs, “Yeah, no. You probably just gained a shit ton of respect from him. He’s pretty big on standing up for what you believe in. Even if you're wrong. So, even if he thinks your wrong, at least you stood up for yourself.”I turn my gaze away from him, “You think that’s why they just stood there?” I whisper. My hurt clear in my voice. They just let their dad talk to me like that. They didn’t even try and interfere. He sighs loudly, “I hate to break it to you, Thea. But you’re a Luna. You have to be strong enough to defend yourself. Everyone will already have trouble respecting a human, let alone a weak one.”I take a deep breath, “I wasn’t always weak. You know I actually qualified for the Moonlight bo
