Apologies.

Waking up the next morning, his face still appeared in my mind. I fisted the sheets as guilt filled me.

I wanted to blame him. Hate him. He was the rogue who took my innocence, who left me pregnant with a child and didn’t even bother to remember.

So why was I feeling so guilty?

And the answer still rang true in me. But I refused to acknowledge anything.

With a grunt, I trudged from the bed to move towards treasure. Whether it was due to my tumultuous emotions or the fact that I banged the door, he was near inconsolable for the rest of the night, giving me no time to rest until he fell asleep.

Now? He was a happy child again. I sighed as I looked into his eyes which reminded me of the same as the day before. This was my new reality.

It didn’t matter, I thought to myself as I carried him into my arms, while Violet rumbled satisfactorily at the move. He was still the boy I had carried for months, the one I birthed and the one I was living for. His changed eyes did not deter that.
