Chapter 3

 Witness

The next day being the day of the interview, Penny woke up by 6am and got dressed in her most nicest outfit. A red body shaped knee length gown that brought out her curves and opened a bit of a cleavage, but not enough for people to criticise her.

Looking at herself in the mirror took her back to the time she had celebrated her 25th birthday. Back then she had brought the gown because of it and now she's wearing it for the second time after a few months. A frown curled up her forehead as she realised how thin she was back then, since the gown was now hugging her so much.

Rounding off with her dressing, Penny took the same cab as Jason and waved him goodbye as she alighted in front of her company.

“Goodluck sis, I love you.” Jason screamed from the closed car and Penny mouthed the same to him.

Just a step away from the entrance of the company, Penny untied her hair from the messy bun she had wrapped it in and flinged it triumphantly before walking into the company.

As the sound of hills making clicking sounds attracted the employees in the company, Lacey also turned to the direction the employees were looking at and her eyes widened in surprise.

Not wanting to wait to comment, A make employee wowed as he spoke “Damn! Is that Penny?” he closed his mouth in horror before he added “She is hot, I never knew she was this hot I could have asked her out.” 

“I know right?” Another commented as he licked his lips seductively.

Well he was right, Penny rarely dresses hot except for occasions like dinner night or a drink with authors. But still, the attire she had on was not close to the ones she had worn in the past. It was extravagant.

Taking a U-turn to the chief Director's office, Penny abruptly stopped and turned to everyone staring at her. Smacking her lips against each other, she blew them all a kiss before turning to Lacey who kept moving her lips soundlessly.

Leaning close to her ears, Penny whispered in a mocking tone “I hope your eyes fall off.” a chuckle erupted from her.

Scoffing loudly, Lacey balled her fist as she watched Penny take the route to the Chief director's office. She was so infuriated that she bit down on her bottom lips till it began to bleed.

Just after a few walks, Penny finally stopped in front of the chief director's door. Placing a soft knock on it Penny voiced out “Chief director, it's Penny”

After hearing a faint come in from within, Penny pushed the door open. When she got inside she saw the chief director making coffee and she took the front seat.

Turning around to see Penny sitting down, the chief director almost spilled the coffee on himself. Utterly stunned by how beautiful and different she looked he couldn't stop himself from staring so hard.

After staring for a few minutes, he blinked his eyes and regained his composure. Sitting down on his chair, he passed a cup of coffee to her.

“Thank you so much Chief director.” Penny took it all in a gulp. 

“So Penny?” The chief director began, “If everything goes smoothly today you will likely be promoted. So try your best.” he patted her on the shoulder and exclaimed, “This is why it's so nice to have such a hardworking employee.” 

Having heard his compliment, Penny almost rolled eyes. *So now I'm now a hardworking employee right?* She thought to herself and scoffed *How greedy*

Standing in front of the Humphrey fashion industry, Penny could feel her legs shaking slightly. They had taken all directions on what to do by the chief director. 

After going through the contents of the interview one last time, they left and now they were standing in front of the company with Penny as the lead.

Staring at Penny, Lacey couldn't help but laugh “Don't tell me you are nervous Penny.” Lacey folded her hands under her boobs.

Letting out a chuckle, Penny retorted “So what if I'm scared? Do you want to take over as the lead? Well I guess you can don't you think so?” her words oozed with sarcasm.

Tearing her gaze from Lacey, Penny took it to the others in front of her as she stated, “This interview is a once in a lifetime opportunity, so we need to be fully prepared for it. This is the first time the Ceo of Humphrey's fashion industry actually accepted our interview after so many pleas.” Penny took a deep breath, “Don't let down your guard.” 

The others nodded in understanding while Lacey simply rolled her eyes. “Whatever!” she muttered.

Taking a deep breath to calm her nervousness, Penny began taking long strides into the company, and the others including the photographer followed from behind.

When they entered, Penny told the receptionist the reason for their visit and without hesitation, they took the elevator all the way to the top floor.

“Are you from Sunrise writing and publishing agency?” Anita came over to welcome them as they stepped out from the elevator. Looking at Penny for a while, she couldn't help but exclaim “Wow, you are pretty missed.” 

The compliment got Penny smiling so hard that she had once forgotten her reason for coming. Finally righting herself, she replied casually “Yes we are from Sunrise writing and publishing agency” she shook hands with Anita.

“Alright please come this way, Mr Humphrey will be here shortly.” with that she left them into the meeting room.

Right after they entered, Penny excused herself and walked up to a lady, who seemed to be an employee there. With her voice shaking slightly, she spoke “Can you direct me to the woman's room? I need to make use of it.” 

The employee directed her and she thanked her before leaving to find the washroom. She was so nervous and needed to take in some sir before the interview.

Holding her stomach tightly, Penny used her other hand to get support from the wall. Her stomach was beginning to hurt badly and she was covered in cold sweats.

“Fuck!,” Penny hissed loudly as the pain strikes her hard again.

Just then she saw an employee coming out from a door. Upon seeing the written letter on the door which labeled as *Female* Penny quickly rushed into the washroom.

After a few minutes, she was done and came out from the washroom. Glancing at her wristwatch she realized how much time had passed and needed to head quickly to the meeting room.

Rushing to the meeting room, Penny suddenly heard grunts and groans coming from a room. A part of her wanted to walk by but then again, curiosity got the best of her. 

Taking a step forward, she peeped through the door and then saw a male figure hitting his head on the wall, as his other hand held his chest tightly gasping for air.

*What is that?* Penny thought to herself as she took a more close look than usual. Now she was almost at the edge of pushing the door open. 

Just then a sharp groan jolted her from her thoughts and the next thing that followed after was a scream from Penny. Falling on her butts she held her chest tightly before dashing off.
