Chapter 2

 The interview

In the large meeting room of Humphrey group, was Stiles Humphrey the Ceo of the largest fashion industry.

“That sums up our quarter for this month.” A middle aged woman stuttered as she spoke with her heart in her throat. She was in charge of the management unit “Are you satisfied with the results Mr Humphrey?”

Stiles slender fingers drummed on the documents in front of him. He had a glum expression on his face “Do you really expect me to be happy with this kind of results?”

Everyone was covered in cold sweat. Of course he wouldn't be happy, no one has ever made him satisfied let alone happy? He wasn't that easy to deal with.

Swallowing the huge lump in her throat and regaining her composure, the middle aged woman spoke after a long time of keeping mum.

“May I know what the problem is, sir?”

“Everything Mariam!” Stiles spat frostily before tossing the document around the room, not caring where it landed. Luckily Mariam caught in before it could touch the ground.

Rubbing his forehead in dismay, Stiles took a deep breath to control himself from scattering his desk. That was Stiles Humphrey, his anger alone could transform into a powerhouse and would get the employees shaking like a ship which would sink into the ocean anytime.

However he wasn't in a mood to do anything rash at the moment. Standing up abruptly, Stiles turned to Mariam “Report to me in the next meeting.” he then faced the entire employees who stood up shortly after he had stood up “Meeting dismissed”

Stiles arrived at his office and was dumbstruck to see a document on his desk. Having a puzzled expression on his face, Stiles spoke through the intercom “Anita you are needed in my office right now”

He leaned down on his chair and crossed his arms on his chest as he stared at the document in front of him boldly written *A letter of appeal*

Reaching out his right arm to the document, he flung it open revealing a single paper which was written: Good day Mr Humphrey, I know this sounds funny but I would love to ask you to please accept my request of making an interview with you. Please don't say no for this is the tenth time I've written such a letter. I really hope you get to read this and accept my proposal. I will be forever grateful if you do. Thanks in advance Mr Humphrey.``

The letter ended up with a quirky emoji Which suddenly caused a rage in Stiles as he threw the document across the room.

“Wow!” Stiles smoothed his black gelled hair back and burst into a sudden laughter.

The content of the letter wasn't the reason for his sudden rage but the pattern of the written letter was.

*Just who had the guts to write such a letter like this to me?* Stile thought to himself as he rubbed the nape of his neck.

Shortly the door of his office opened wide as Anita, his personal secretary, walked in. She was a middle aged woman in a pink office attire and had her hair fall freely on her shoulders, making her look so intimidating but of course Stiles was not intimidated by her appearance.

Taking an elegant step forward, Anita's eyes came in contact with the document which laid openly on the floor. Raising her brows as she stared at it for a while, she bent down and picked it up.

“Is something wrong Sir?” The middle aged woman questioned after closing the document.

Stiles, who was still angry at the written letter, didn't have any idea when Anita walked inside his office. However, hearing her voice took his attention to the door.

At the moment the expression on his face was rather cold and distant as she spoke “Who sent that letter?” his heavy breaths filled the room.

If there was anything that Stiles hated, it was disrespect and the writer of the so-called letter showed him how disrespectful he or she is. He couldn't believe she wrote the latter as if she had known him for ages.

*Such a fool* he thought to himself.

“It was sent by an employee from *Sunrise writing and publishing agency* Sir Anita answered truthfully.

“Oh please” Stiles waved his hands into the air, like he was shooing away a fly. “We have discussed this with Anita. Call me Stiles,”

“Ok Stiles,” she moved to his desk and placed the document on it. “I went through the documents and realized how childishly written it was...” she sucked in a deep breath. “However, you shouldn't turn them down.”

Stiles couldn't believe his ears and couldn't help but yell “What nonsense are you talking about? This so-called company isn't in the top 5th list...” he clicked his tongue and chuckled afterwards before he added “It's not even in the list of the first top 50th magazine company.”

Letting out a chuckle, Anita replied “You need to accept the proposal because this is the tenth time this particular employee has written such a letter.” she patted him on the shoulder “Just accept the proposal alright? Don't let the efforts of the young lady go to waste.”

“I will think about it Anita!” Stiles' frostily response came out.

•••

Morning broke and Penny rose after crying herself to sleep. She was up earlier half an hour. After washing up she switched on her laptop and started penning a resignation letter right away.

She did not care if Lacey or the other employees would take her as a coward for running away because of *a few yells* as they say it all the time....she just could not work under her chief director anymore.

She had gotten it all to her throat that it was beginning to fall out of her mouth. The yells, the insults, the nicknames and the disgusting stares it was all just too much for her to handle.

Just as she was typing away furiously on the keyboard, her phone rang and the chief director's phone number appeared on the screen.

It was so sudden that Penny gasped and jumped on the bed “Gosh! What is this? Did he feel me typing a resignation letter?”

The phone kept ringing continuously in her palm that she was confused about what to do. After staring at the phone for a while, she took a deep breath before swiping to the answer button.

“Good morning Penny, I trust you had a goodnight sleep?” The chief director's voice was heard at the other end of the line. He had a sweet tone rather than his usual hoarse voice which possessed sarcasm.

Finally righting herself, Penny sat upright and straightened her back like he could see her. In a nonchalant tone she spoke, “Good morning sir. May I ask why you are calling me this early in the morning?”

*Perhaps he wants to fire you himself* her subconscious whispered and she touched her chest, anticipating what he wanted to say next.

“Your request to interview the Ceo of Humphrey's fashion industry has been approved”

“What?” Penny screamed unbelievably.
