Thorne is dead? It can't be!I mean, how?I stepped out of my position behind my father, and headed out of the throne room. Could it be that the warriors were only lying to protect him? Or could it be that he was truly dead? Not that I cared if he lived or died, but to think that there was a killer among us was something new. And strange too.Usually, I would ask for my father's consent to leave his side, not because I wanted to, but becau[Declan] Dylan and I remained in his bedroom for some time even after the servant left. For one we didn't give a fuck about our father's guests, and for another,we were consumed with guilt. Guilt that had allowed our father to convince us to stay back from searching for Avira. Of course we sent warriors to search for her in places we have searched, but not going with them was as good as not making a single effort. Dylan soon got up from the bed rather reluctantly, stretched out his muscles lazily, and then he turned to face me. Left for me alone, I will not go to our father. I was beginning to regret letting Dylan talk me into staying back. "The deed is done already. Let's go welcome his guests." Dylan called, and then he stretched his hand to pull me up but I ignored it, and got up by myself. There were three of them, his guests. An Alpha I didn't think I had seen before and his two daughters
[Avira] The whip landed heavily on my back, the sharp crack echoing through the narrow stretch of the vast empty land. Pain exploded across my skin, hot and blinding, racing through every nerve in my body. My breath hitched, my hands clawing into the dirt beneath me. But the pain was not what terrified me most. We were out of the cave now, and dawn was fast approaching with the air chilly.. But neither of my mates were here yet. I was slowly losing my grip on hope. "You will get more whips if you continue to stall," the man said with a laugh. He was enjoying this. I could hear it in the way he dragged his words, and then lifted up the whip, ready to strike me again. I said nothing. Instead, I clenched my muscles, and focused on my breathing, slow and deliberate, forcing myself not to scream. Screaming was what he wanted from me, screaming would only please him, and I would ha
[Dylan] "Which route did they take?" I heard Declan ask the men by the door, and I also heard them mumbling in response. How could anyone be so stupid, and let the one person they were commanded to protect go away with a different group? I heard the bang, the shattering, and then whimpering, and I knew what Declan was doing to them. I was in her bedroom, looking closely at everything, and searching for nothing in particular. Something around here should point me to a clue, or be one. But there was nothing. Exhaling and inhaling were as difficult as fuck now as I couldn't help but wonder where Avira was now, and what she was facing. About what she was facing, I am supposed to feel any pain she experiences, and so far I have gotten nothing! Is it that there was no pain? Is it that the bond had been severed? Because come to think of it, I
[Avira]I couldn't tell how long I was out for, or how much longer I would have stayed unconscious, but I forced my eyes open when I felt someone sending violent kicks to my side. The kick sent painful signals to my brain, making my muscles clench on their own, but my attacker, whoever it was, wouldn't stop kicking me. It was utterly dark, and I could not make out anything that would give me a clue as to where I was. I didn't need the events that took place to flash through my memory because I remembered them clearly. I remembered the faces of the warriors who had lured me out of the pack on the pretense that both Dylan and Declan were badly wounded. I remembered the warrior who had hit me violently, and Mira's screams.Mira! Is she okay? Did she get hit as well?"Please stop, you're hurting her. Please!" Mira's teary voice cut through the darkness, begging the bastard, whoever it was, to stop. But he didn't. I promised myself to not scream in pain or plead for mercy, so instead,
[Avira]I felt a sudden weakness from my waist downwards, and my heart skipped a beat. How I managed to keep standing was a miracle."Excuse me," I said to the men who had brought the news, and went back inside, my heart heavy with guilt. "Mates!" My wolf called, but in a whimper. Her voice had lost the usual excitement with which she usually calls them. Mira's wide eyes were fixed on me, and I could read concern all over it. I moved about it in the room, with no destination in mind. From the dresser, I moved to the laundry basket, and then to the bed. My whole body trembled as I paced about."Luna," Mira called after a few seconds. Her voice was gentle, and almost provided me with just enough comfort but it didn't. Both Dylan and Declan were badly injured, and have sent for me.What am I doing standing here, or even pacing about?"Take these off," I commanded Mira, waving at the cloak I was wearing which was adorned with gold, and the collections of gold around my neck. Mira's h
[Dylan]The tripartite ceremony was a huge success even though our father had failed to show up like I half expected. What made the event more colourful was the Lunar goddess' approval which usually comes in the form of a thunderbolt. The sound had delayed in coming, that for a slight second, I thought it wouldn't sound, or that the Lunar goddess had changed her mind about Avira being our mate. But it sounded after a few seconds, and it was louder than it was supposed to, which at the moment, could only mean that Avira is the one true Luna of TwinMoon pack.I made a mental note to confront my father about his absence, but I wasn't sure when would be convenient for both of us. After the wedding ceremony which was right now would be time to consummate our marriage. I had no idea how much time that would take.My eyes darted around the room which in a few hours would cease to be mine until they settled for the full-length mirror in the room
[Avira]I stretched lazily on the cold ground until my arms were restricted by a hard object, and I snapped my eyes open. I was sleeping peacefully until I woke up, and realized that I was still in the hollow of the tree. Although I had pretended to be okay with the arrangement last night, I was no
[Avira]I did not realize how far into the night we had spent until the cloud gradually shifted and revealed the moon.I suddenly felt a burning sensation around my neck which prompted me to clutch my neck in a futile attempt to wriggle the fucking necklace off, but just as it was back inside the
[Avira]Kyle appeared on the podium through the back door, bearing the old Ashen cage. Although he carried it with ease, I could tell that it was heavier than he made it seem. Carefully, he placed the old looking cage on the floor in front of me, and motioned for me to get inside, and I did, trembl
[Dylan]I watched as Avira suddenly became uneasy once I mentioned the cave, and I wondered why. It was only a cave, and it was the only option I had with the other members of the pack nearly upon us."Is something wrong?" I asked again when she made no attempt to respond to my first question."It'
