22. Alive
Giovanni:
My eyes remained on her face, watching her like a hawk while she slept, looking so peaceful. It had been a shock to see her at my doorstep after so many months of not having her in my life. At a point, I’d considered she was dead and I blamed myself every day for being responsible for that, telling myself if I hadn’t bitten her when I’d panicked, she might have still been alive.
