Chapter 23: The Alpha Is Dead

Two hours later, I sit in Kelly’s living room, staring at the television, as I wonder where in the hell Alexander is.

“Where could he be?” I murmur under my breath as I nurse one killer of a headache and try my best to not throw up.

While holding my stomach, I hear a knock at the door.

“Finally.” I state out loud as my voice echoes throughout the empty room.

Standing up quickly, I push the off button on the remote and then place it on the glass coffee table before I hurry to the door with my purse. On the way, I pass the hall mirror and catch a glimpse of my haggard appearance.

“Boy, I need to get some sleep.” I whisper under my breath before reaching the door.

Wrapping my slender fingers around the cold, brass knob, I turn it only to find Alexander standing in front of the door with a somber look on those handsome lips of his and his head hung down low.
