Chapter 2
Ash's eyebrows joined together when he saw a new young girl probably a year younger than him walking towards the same class as his.
Strange, was the word that came in his mind when he looked at her; Who takes admission when half of the session is over already?
He shook his head as he walked towards the back door; Ash wasn't like others; he would keep his distance from other students; eat alone, sit alone, In short always alone neither he made any friends nor anyone tried to befriend him because of the cold aura he gives off. He is difficult to approach but anyone never tried so they do not know him... at all.
" I saw him walking in the woods last night, " he heard a whisper.
" did you get anything unusual? " another one.
" I was following him but he disappeared suddenly like he wasn't there in the first place, " that one sure made him smirk.
" What's so interesting girls? " He attempted to shut those girls in his style; the girl's face suddenly turned paler than she already was; the fear was evident in her eyes as she looked at him and froze.
She shook her head and walked towards the first desk in the row, far, far away from him. the girl he saw earlier walked into the class, not any other class but his class.
As if Maya felt the stare on her, She looked up and her eyes locked with his; the 2-second eye contact was so intense that she could feel chills all over her body; A few students noticed this moment of them and whispered among themselves.
" She got the devil's attention, Pray to God that she stays alive to see the sunrise of the next day, "
Maya felt awkward after the eye contact; She sat on the third seat on the left, the one close to the window as she looked around the lively class. everyone seems to have their groups but She was noticed.
" Maya? " she looked up to see the teacher was looking at her. She nodded her head and stood up.
Everyone looked at her including Ash; The teacher handed her a few notes of the class and asked her to sit down; everyone started their to copy notes while Ash just kept looking at her; His lips curved as he closed his eyes and whispered her name, ' Maya '
Maya's heartbeat stopped when she felt a shiver run down her spine; as if the words reached her ears, She looked around to see the mysterious guy looking at her.
Ash was already observing her, why? he did not know himself.
Their gaze locked for a second before Maya diverted her eyes; there was not so much silence in the room but the noise inside her head was too much; she heard a rain sound; a few minutes passed by when suddenly a few students screamed.
the LED bulb blasted all of a sudden; Maya was sitting right under it; Maya covered her head with her hands but a glass piece pierced her skin. The teacher turned on the flashlight as she looked over all over the children.
" Maya, you need first-aid, " The teacher said to her as Ash appeared in front of them with the first-sid box. Maya did not say anything but pulled out that glass piece out of her arm.
" you can go to the nurse room, you need an injection, it is a glass cut, " the teacher said as Maya nodded. her aching head and now this.
Blood started to ooze as Ash's expression stayed blank; he did not try to lessen the pain when he put the ointment on the cut; gladly it was not that deep.
usually, you feel the other person's touch when they are bandaging your hand but Ash's hands stayed to his side. Other students did not even try to look at them while Ash tried his best not to look into her eyes and blood.
the teacher came back and announced it will take a few minutes to change the bulb; She started asking kids what they want to become in life while Maya, could think only sarcastic answers. it was not her personality but she turned bitter from the moment she realized this life was going to say goodbye to her.
If life does cheat then maybe something... Maya thought.
She thought as The teacher asked Ash what he wants to become, " If Life stays faithful then perhaps something, "
His answer shocked everyone but not more than Maya but She was thinking of the same words if her turn comes.
She bites her lips as he looked at her; The teacher did not ask him any more questions as the peon came with a spare bulb. till the time it was fixed in the holder; the bell rang, the teacher gave homework before she walked out of the class.
Maya was shocked, confused, or surprised, she did not even know herself; " can you change seats with me, please? " She asked another student; She wanted to feel the rain on her hands.
She wanted to memorize all of it, she does not want to regret when hell angels come knocking on her head to take her with them.
She changed the seats to sit by the window; feeling the cold and sometimes harsh raindrops on her skin but she liked it maybe loved it? She knows.
.
Maya was called to the principal's office that afternoon; She knocked on the door as she heard a ' come in ', When Max's eyes fell on her, he offered her a small smile.
" Read these and sign, " He said to her as she nodded; it was just some school formality papers that she did not bother reading.
" You should have at least read it, " Max said to her.
" What's the need of it when I will not be in this world after 3 months? " Maya murmured under her breath but Max heard it.
" Why are you pushing yourself into depression? It will make a negative effect on your health, " Max's concern reflected in his words as Maya smiled painfully.
" As if it is going to get any better, " Sarcastic answers were now Maya's best friends. Max did not know how to cheer her up.
" Take these, " He handed her a key as she looked at him confused.
" What are these one-off? " Maya asked.
" Duplicate key of the school library, you can roam around anytime you want, no one will stop you I will get the teachers-- " Max was about to say something when Maya stood up and kept the key on his desk.
" Uncle Max, I am here because I did not want pity from my family and you are not going to share my medical history with anyone, " Maya said painfully; her voice was calm but filled with pain. she can not even explain what she felt when her family always gave her pitiful looks.
" it is good for you, " Max argued; he was not going to give up on the chance to take care of his niece in her last days; somewhere in his heart he had accepted it but fakely he was still trying to fight it and Maya could see that.
" Acceptance is what makes it easy uncle Max, I do not need any special treatment, " Maya said as she turned her heels in the direction of the door and walked out.
October weather in Dehradun is cold-filled with rains; a similar kind of coldness was what Maya was experiencing within her.
Her head ached as she walked towards the next class; She saw the same mysterious boy from her class sitting alone in the cafeteria; lunchtime was going to be over in 10 minutes; for once she thought to sit with him or alone there but then she dropped that idea and walked to the class.
Maya needed some notes; She walked to the library to take a few books when she realized she could see the hostel building from the windows of the library; the school was almost 200 years older; its architecture was nice yet gave a feeling of the past.
Of course, they renovated it and remade a few areas with time still it was kind of historical; That evening after school hours were over.
Maya was walking around the school; she did not need anyone to show her around; she was better on her own and it is not the first time she came here; she studied here when she was 6 years old but she did not come to the main building.
There was a piano class to a few classes away from the library; Maya was never a fan of art because she was good with numbers; she chose commerce, but now she wanted to at least learn something, it could take her mind off the negative things.
She pressed a key but it made a loud sound; she was very bad at it; her headache started again so she took out two painkillers and gulped them without water.
madness?
Yes, she was doing madness because it was the only thing left in her life.
Chapter 3Trying to sleep that night was the thoughtest task for Maya; great now she developed insomnia because of tablets; She was feeling lightheaded; she turned towards the right only to see there was no water in the room anymore. She wrapped a fluffy white small blanket around her shoulders before she took the water bottle and opened the door of the room; making that scary but small scratch sound, Maya gazed around if there was anyone out of looking her way.Practically it was impossible because there was fog all around; It was 2 am, why wouldn't there be smoke and fog with the cold winds making her shiver. She held the blanket tightly before she started walking; She was halfway in the corridor when she heard the door of another room opening; slaps of cold wind increased as she turned around only to see a girl rubbing her eyes; her eyes fell on Maya as she froze.Maya knew if that girl will scream she will be in trouble and that means attention; uncle Max will tell all the teacher
Beauty in Blue, that's what every model used to call her including her fans; She was not that big of a modeling sensation but still, she was known.Today again she is wearing blue but the only difference is the blue is a school dress; Maya walked inside the class as Azora smiled at her; Maya offered her a small smile before she walked towards the same seat, she took yesterday. The weather was even colder today though there was the sun peeking in between the clouds, still, the fog did not let them see after a few feet; the window was closed but Maya felt suffocated because of it all of a sudden. when she tried to open it a few other classmates protested, it was chilly outside." Maya, you can take the last seat if you want some air, " Azora said as Maya turned her head to look at the few empty seats.Unknowingly her eyes lingered on the seat where that mysterious guy was sitting yesterday; Maya looked around but he was nowhere in the class.Maybe he didn't come today. She brushed it of
The trip to the cemetery was noisy; girls and a few boys chatting about almost everything, Maya found herself just looking at the sprinting trees. the old of all was Ash, He was driving the minibus. Not many students offered to come to the cemetery and Azora was one of them; Taking the last step off the bus, Maya felt her head heavy again. She rolled her eyes before she popped out two painkillers from the strip of tablets she always kept in her pocket. She did not bring anything with her other than her phone; she walked back inside the bus once again and saw a bottle near the driver's seat. one sip can not make him mad right? With that thought she quickly opened the bottle cap and gulped it with the liquid; coughing at the bitter taste of filtered water; She quickly kept the bottle back in its place. " Maya, " She turned around only to see Ash looking right at her. He looked at her but did not say anything; his eyes caught something but he chose to walk out. Maya made a face at
Ever felt scared of eyes? eyes, eyes, and eyes everywhere? looking right at you? That is what Maya felt when She stepped inside the dining area of school the next morning; the abnormal sweat on her forehead in this cold weather is seriously unusual. Keeping her food tray on the table she started eating; trying to avoid the eyes that stared at her; questioning her, but not speaking making her assume a lot of things that she does not want. " Are you okay? " the masculine voice made her stop eating as she looked up at his face. Why is he here when I do not want to see his face? wasn't yesterday's event enough? " I asked you something, " He whispered as He sat next to me; She scooted, not wanting her skin to touch his. the cafeteria was quiet; a little too much when she looked up. " Are you sad that I was not killed? " sarcasticness, here it comes. " what? " I seriously think he should try in acting If I would have believed him if... " experiencing the worse and making others experi
Picking the pens and sheets that fell from her hand; Maya looked around to see if anyone was around the library. Sighing, she put the key into the lock before she opened the door but today the library was dark...too dark, Maya carefully closed the door before she looked around if the mysterious hot guy was around; She pouted when she saw no one around the library. Maybe he did not come todayShe switched on the light near the window table away from her usual seat; Placing her things and books on the table she pulled out a chair before making a wild bun of her hair. She forgot to make some sketch assignments and tomorrow she needs to submit them; rubbing her eyes she started sketching; finishing off the first two she looked at it. something is missing in it but what? She was so focused that she did not listen to the footsteps coming towards her; " Small things do make a difference, " the deep masculine voice made her still as a hand touched the pencil and drawing the remaining par
It was early morning; Maya was feeling tired; she could not stop thinking about Roy and his sudden departure last night; he never came off as shady to her but last night, she could not understand him. It was not just about him but her heart; she likes him but she does not know if he feels the same way; one-sided love always hurts but in her case neither she knew if it was only one-sided nor she had time to live her love even if it is not that way. either way, the pain was in Maya's fate. Her phone rang as she picked it from the nightstand and answered it without even looking at the number thinking it must be her family. " If you are not busy, Can we hang out today? " Her eyes shoot open when she heard the voice; It was none other than Ash. " Ash? is that you? " she asked to confirm, well... confirmation is at least better than confusion. Ash chuckled as he heard her expected reply; he nodded but then realized she was not in front of him; " Yeah it's me, so..." he said. " Wait a
Maya! " Ash yelled at her as she looked up at him. " what happened? I am sitting right in front of you, why are you shouting? " She asked, totally annoyed by his behavior; in the past week Maya got closer to Ash, there was a cute bond between them. Azora joined them sometimes but tonight was one of the days she did not; She had gone back to her home. " Seriously Maya? I am calling you for the last 2 minutes but you are lost in your thoughts" He said as Maya's angry expression changed into a softer one. " I am sorry, Ash, I am just... I have not completed my assignments and I have to give them a day after tomorrow, " She lied; She was lost in Roy's thoughts; the difference between them was the silence between them was increasing every day or I may say every night. After that time, Roy did not indicate any conversation about the kiss between them; they would talk about other things the comfort of silence was slowly but surely losing itself in it. " It's okay, you have the whole we
It was 4 am, that night she was late from her usual time to go back to her room; Roy and her relationship were new but now they started sharing things and connections. Maya walked back with a smile on her face; she was passing from the music room when she heard the piano; she growing, who must be playing piano this late? Stopping at the door of the music room; she tried to unlock the door but it was locked from inside; the tune got intense; Maya was not a big fan of piano but she held some knowledge of notes and all... she was not sure if it was Mariage d'Amore or other. Maya was curious; she got on her knees and looked inside through the keyhole; someone was there playing the piano; it was dark inside, she could not make it who it was. The tune was intense yet held a beauty; She was so engrossed in the music that she did not realize when she stopped looking through the keyhole and just sat there enjoying the soft yet intense tune; true they say, Music is an unspoken language.
