The lies she fed

Chapter 3

Trying to sleep that night was the thoughtest task for Maya; great now she developed insomnia because of tablets; She was feeling lightheaded; she turned towards the right only to see there was no water in the room anymore.

She wrapped a fluffy white small blanket around her shoulders before she took the water bottle and opened the door of the room; making that scary but small scratch sound, Maya gazed around if there was anyone out of looking her way.

Practically it was impossible because there was fog all around; It was 2 am, why wouldn't there be smoke and fog with the cold winds making her shiver.

She held the blanket tightly before she started walking; She was halfway in the corridor when she heard the door of another room opening; slaps of cold wind increased as she turned around only to see a girl rubbing her eyes; her eyes fell on Maya as she froze.

Maya knew if that girl will scream she will be in trouble and that means attention; uncle Max will tell all the teachers about her medical history and then she will have to bear those pitiful looks; Maya did not want even one percent.

She dropped her blanket on the floor along with the water bottle; she knew it won't make any sound because it is going to fall on the fluffy blanket; She held's the girl's hand and pulled her near her and put her hand on her mouth before that girl could let out a scream.

That girl's eyes widened as she looked at Maya with a horrified expression; Maya pushed that girl lightly into her room and before Maya could explain herself to that girl; she fainted on Maya.

Maya somehow handled her weight and put her on the bed; the other girl in the room was sleeping peacefully; Maya covered that girl with a blanket before she closed the door and wiped the sweat off her forehead.

Hopefully, she will forget it thinking it was a nightmare

Maya thought before she wrapped the blanket around her shoulders and moved away; She filled water in her bottle and started drinking it.

It was quiet, so damn quiet that she could hear her breathing in the silence of the halls; Maya knew she won't be able to sleep so she started walking back towards her room; at least that was better than being out in the cold halls.

She was about to take a turn towards the hostel when her eyes fell on an old shady-looking room attached to the school building; What is in that room? She was more than curious; the room was at the backside of the school;

Maybe it's a storeroom area?

Cold winds started to hit her face; it was maybe 3 am already; Maya decided to check it tomorrow morning before school starts.

With that thought, she walked back to her room wrapping the white fluffy blanket over her head to avoid a headache with her water bottle in her hands.

.

The next morning, When Maya walked out of her room she saw a few girls weirdly looking her way; she could not help but feel uncomfortable; she was a model but a weird gaze makes us comfortable right?

She wore her coat and wrapped the scarf around her neck; She walked towards the same area where she saw that room last night but when she reached there... the room was not there anymore.

How can it happen? I just saw it here last night... they can't even break it within a few hours and if they can then it would at least look like that

but that place was as clean as the field behind it; the other side of the school was full of trees; She was not even able to see so much last night.

' I think I have lost my way ' she thought as she looked at the few guys who were playing football there. She wanted to go and ask them but it was 7 am already; She needed to at least eat breakfast before she continues her investigation.

When maya walked inside the dining area that morning everyone became quiet all of a sudden; She looked behind her and saw the same mysterious guy ( Ash ) standing at a few feet distance from her.

Ash was busy looking at his phone when he felt a gaze on him; he looked up only to see Maya looking at him; She was so lost in his mysterious black eyes that she did not realize he was looking right into her eyes and was standing at just a hand distance from her.

Their intense gaze would not have come to halt all of sudden if someone had not dropped their plate; Maya got startled as she turned her head towards the source of the noise.

It was the same girl from last night who fainted on her; Maya did not say anything nor her expression changed but she could hear some whisper sounds coming from that way; maybe not sound but seeing the girls and a few guys whispering among them, Maya realized maybe the girl did not forget last night's incident as a nightmare but she remembered.

She was a little upset that everyone was behaving differently but she dropped the idea and walked to take her breakfast; She did not turn around even once while Ash's gaze was fixed on her moments. He took a seat near the window stealing a few glances at her.

The dining area became chattery once again.

She looked around and found the same girl she asked to exchange seats with yesterday; Maya said a small ' hi ' to her as she smiled at the girl who smiled back.

The girl got up from her seat and sat adjacent seat to Maya's.

" Azora," She said as Maya nodded her head.

" Maya " She introduced herself. Maya looked up suddenly and saw a few girls looking her way.

" Azora? Why are they staring at us like that? " Maya asked; She did not want to make many conversations but she could at least have a person to talk to. Weird things are already happening to her and she does not want to add to her confusion.

" there's a talk that a girl saw something moving here and there in the corridors last night, They are scared just that, " Azora replied as Maya nodded.

' it means she did not remember it enough to tell people my name,' Maya took a breath of relief as she ate her breakfast.

" Is... Is there any storeroom or a shady-type room on the backside of the school building? " Maya asked as what she needed to know. she was sure she saw it there last night but now this morning she lost her way there.

Azora stopped eating as she looked at Maya, " You saw something? " She asked after looking here and there if anyone was listening to their conversation.

" Umm... no, I was coming back from the morning walk, I saw something in the fog so I asked, " Maya did not know why she lied to her. maybe because she did not want her to confirm that she was the one who was moving around the campus last night.

" Did you went near the shady area of school? " Azora asked all of a sudden.

" Shady area? "Maya's brows collided in confusion as she asked Azora.

" I mean the area where are many trees? " Azora replied; her expression turned lighter but Maya did not notice that as she tried to remember it correctly. Even her sickness was playing games with her memory.

" I... I.. don't remember clearly, it was foggy and cold, " Maya replied as Azora smiled at her.

" With that being said, I think you assumed it because there is no outside store room or any other room in this building of the school, " Azora replied as Maya stopped eating.

How is that even possible? I know I saw that room yesterday... It can't be my imagination...

Maya thought as she ate the last bite of her breakfast.

" I think you are right, see you after class, " Azora said as she stood up with her plate in her hands. Maya just nodded at her instead of answering.

She did not know what to do; after giving it a thought she decided to ask uncle Max about it. She got up from her seat, Ash steal another glance of her but she did not notice it; lost in her thoughts and determination, she walked out of the dining area.

Knock! knock!

Maya knocked on the door of uncle Max's office and waited for a few moments; impatiently shifting her weight on her legs, she looked around; after a few seconds when she did not hear any reply she knocked on the door once again, a little loudly.

When Maya did not hear anything again she tried to open the door but it was locked; Maya huffed in frustration as she turned her heels in the opposite direction and started walking.

She went back to her dorm room and put the necessary books in her bag; she felt pukish but somehow handled herself; she decided to stay here, she has to get through it. She checked her phone one last time.

there were messages from her family asking her if she was okay and if she is facing any problems.

She replied with ' I'm fine ' in the group chat before she put her phone on airplane mode; she did not want to associate herself with anyone and maybe this was the best way to do so.

She walked out of her room as it was five minutes before the bell rings; She entered the class avoiding the weird stare of students. Her eyes linger on the last seat where that mysterious guy was sitting yesterday but found no one.

She diverted her gaze as the bell finally rang.
