Lucas' POV
I approached Louisa. I couldn't believe this tiny, pale woman standing in front of me was capable of doing something so mean to such an innocent girl like Jessica. To my surprise, Louisa didn't want to flinch. Her olive-colored eyes were filled with angery tears. But there wasn't any fear. Why isn't she afraid of me? I frowned and thought to myself. I saw thugs pissing themselves when they were confronted by me. Does she even know what I used to do for a living?"Tell me what really happened." I said in a low voice. "I've already told you what happened. You weren't listening." Louisa replied in a determined voice. "I didn't pour anything on Jessica. She was complaining about the tea I made and she poured the tea all over herself. I might be a lousy tea brewer, but I'm not a liar."Again. No fear. There are a lot of things about this woman that annoy me, but telling lies isn't one of them.As we were staring at each other, Jessica stepped in and said, "Oh, come on, Luke. Just give her a break. She must be really terrified right now...""I'm not terrified," Louisa interrupted her. "I didn't do anything wrong and I didn't lie. Why do I have to be terrified?"Jessica raised her eyebrows. She does that when she's mad. "What?!" She crossed her arms and said. "Are you insinuating that I'm a liar?!" "I'm not insinuating anything." Louisa said without looking at Jessica. "My husband asked me a question and I told him the truth. It's a conversation between us and I don't think it has anything to do with you."Her voice was steady and calm. Who is this woman? How dare she be this rude in front of me? Jessica's face turned red because of anger. She was too angry to say anything. My mother raised her voice, "Ah, Luke! How can you allow your wife to insult our guest like this?"I commanded Louisa, "Apologize to Jessica.""For what?!" Louisa challenged me. "For what you've done to Jessica. For your rudeness and disobedience." I replied."I will not apologize for what I haven't done," Louisa said in a firm voice. "I don't have to be obedient to you. I am your wife, not your slave!" Everyone was shocked in the room. The tension in the air was so thick that I could cut it with a knife. She was the first woman who dared to openly disobey me like this. Her rebellion was totally off grid. I had to teach her a lesson. But my mother reacted faster. "You shameless little bitch!" She raised her hand high up in the air. I knew she was about to slap Louisa. I stretched out my arm, grabbed her hand, and stopped her. "Luke, what the hell are you doing?" My mother looked shocked. "This bitch is out of control and she's humiliating you in front of all of us!" I didn't let go of his mother's hand. "Mother," I cleared his voice and said in a deep, pressing voice, "Louisa is my wife. Nobody touches her except me. And I do prefer that nobody uses that B-word in my house." My mother looked hurt. She whimpered while Jessica was holding her arms, looking at Louisa with hatred. I noticed some red marks on Louisa's forearms. I immediately knew my mother was torturing her while I was away. I cleared my voice and said to my bodyguards, "Take Miss Torrington upstairs and lock her up.""Yes, boss!" my bodyguards replied. "No," Louisa said without taking my eyes off me. "I won't go upstairs. I'm not done with my husband."At that moment, I couldn't hold my anger anymore. "But I'm fucking done with you!" I roared, grabbed the teapot from the table, and smashed it on the floor. Crash! The teapot broke into pieces right in front of Louisa. A shatter jumped up and cut her arm. Blood came out of the wound, but it seemed that she couldn't care less. She just stood there, bitting her lips, letting the blood drip down her arms. She looked so hurt and alone. Jessica smacked her lips. "Tsk, tsk, tsk. It seems something has been broken," she gloated. At that time, Louisa bluntly pushed the bodyguards away and grabbed the kettle from the stove. Before anyone could stop her, she had already poured the entire kettle of water over Jessica's head. Jessica became red and wet head to toe.In her screaming, I heard Louisa's fearless voice -"Now that I've poured drinks on you, you fucking bitch!" Then, she threw the kettle at Jessica.Louisa's POVThe kettle should have hit Jessica right in the face, but Lucas blocked it with his arm. "Ahhhh!" Jessica screamed. She jumped up and down in pain, just like a panicked drenched monkey. Lucas was standing on her side, holding her arms. The concerns in his eyes angered me. So I raised my voice and said, "Don't you ever try to frame me again, bitch!" Then, I pushed the bodyguards away and walked off.The bodyguards automatically wanted to catch me, but Jessica's wailing kept them stalled. "You will pay for this!" she screeched. "Well, bring it on, bitch!" I shouted without looking back. I stormed upstairs into the bedroom and slapped the door, shutting the chaotic circus show downstairs behind my back.I had to use the pillow to cover my face to stop myself from crying out loud. What have I done to deserve this?! What have I done to them to make them treat me in this fucking way?! Feeling exhausted, I decided to take a hot bath to chill out a bit. Right after I
Louisa's POVAs soon as I said the word "Laura", Lucas seemed to change into another person.I had never seen him being so mad like that. I could see fires of anger in Lucas' eyes and popped veins on his forehead. He dragged me on the floor all the way into the bedroom. Then, he pressed my face against a contract on the table. I saw his gun lying next to my head."How did you know that name?!" He barked next to my ear. I felt that he wanted to crash me into pieces with his bare hands.I couldn't say a word. My mind went blank because of tremendous terror. "I'm asking you a fucking question now! Answer me!" Lucas roared and pressed harder. "You mentioned her name on our wedding night... You were drunk and you confused me with her..." I opened my mouth, trying to get more air into my lungs.Lucas pulled me up to look into my eyes."Do not ever mention that name! Did you hear me?! You've got no fucking right to mention that name in front of me!" he growled. I had been waiting for
Louisa's POVAs a gigantic needle slowly penetrated into my spine, I had to bite my hand to stop myself from crying out.I lifted my head and saw Jessica standing in front of me, sneering at me."How does it feel, bitch?" She leaned forward and asked. "I told you that you would pay for it.""Fuck... you..." I squeezed those words out of my mouth. "Ah, that's rude." Jessica rolled her eyes. The door opened and Lucas walked in."Oh, Luke! It's so good to have you here!" Jessica flapped her hand as if she was about to faint. Then, she looked panicked and leaned into Lucas' arms."I can't stand this. You know that I'm afraid of blood!" She peeked through her fingers and exclaimed in a nasal voice. "Take your seat outside, Jess." Lucas comforted her in a gentle voice. After Jessica left, Lucas approached me. I thought he would lean forward to comfort me, but he didn't even look at me. Instead, he stared at the doctor and asked, "Have you finished, Dr. Jafar?""Almost done, Mr. Farrow
Louisa's POVThe party started at dusk.Standing behind the upstairs window, I watched glamorous rich people gently walk into the mansion. Among them, I recognized some familiar faces, including prestigious businessmen, politicians, and celebrities. They were chatting with Lucas, who looked fascinating and sophisticated in a sleek tuxedo. He looked as confident as a prince holding a glass of champagne in his hand. It seemed that my husband was indeed doing a groundbreaking job to expand his social circle. Taking a glance at myself in the mirror for one last time, I bit my lips.I couldn't recognize the girl in the mirror. I had never put on this much make-up like this on my face. The only thing that looked familiar was my chestnut-colored hair and olive-colored eyes. "Look at you! You look stunning in this beautiful dress!" Jessica exclaimed with both of her hands overlapping on her chest. "Go downstairs and let Lucas see you! He'll be more than happy to present you in front
Louisa's POVLucas froze. "What did you just say?" He asked. "You've heard me. I want a divorce," I said. "Prepare the papers and I'll sign them."His face darkened.I continued in a plain voice, "Our marriage is a mistake. Let's stop it right now before we make it worse." Jessica popped up from nowhere and overheard my speech. Her eyes lit up with excitement. "Oh, no! Louisa!" She exclaimed like a drama queen, with one hand placed over her forehead. "Do not do this to Luke! There's nothing going on between me and Luke. He's so kind and generous!" Then, without waiting for me to say anything, she leaned against Lucas and said, "Oh, Luke. What can I do to save your marriage? It's all my fault. If you want me to apologize to Louisa, I can say sorry to her. What shall I do, Luke?"This fucking bitch is pulling her fucking gimmick again. I thought to myself. Do you want hell? I'll give it to you.I grabbed the mobile phone in Lucas' hand, switched the volume to maximum, and displaye
Lucas' POVI don't understand women, yet my life is full of them. They are unpredictable creatures. Last minute she's my wife. The next minute she's standing on your doorstep, flirting with some other guy.I really should have chained her to my bed or locked her up in a dungeon or something.I don't love her, but she's my wife. It's complicated and I don't expect anyone to understand."I guess this is the Mr. Farrow that you've mentioned," the man who was flirting with my wife said. I didn't like his tone of speech and I didn't like his face. People like that don't usually last more than five minutes in my life. When he put his hand into his inner pocket, all my bodyguards stepped forward and pulled out their guns. At the same time, his crew did the same. A shootout was about to start. "OK, this is enough! Everybody! Put your guns down right!" My wife stared at me and that guy alternatively. The other guy took a glance at his men and suggested they put down their guns. My men
Lucas' POV"Who is he?" I asked. "He's one of Frank Sawyer's apprentices," Colin said.Frank Sawyer? The legendary hidden multi-billionaire Frank Sawyer?Only a few people have heard of Frank Sawyer's name and I am one of them.It seemed that my father used to work for him when he was still alive. And then, for some unknown reason, they drifted apart. My father refused to tell me anything about it. Frank Sawyer held the largest business empire in the world. He was one of the wealthiest men on earth and he had more influence than presidents and kings. Rumor has it that he passed away last week. How on earth does an ordinary girl like my humble wife have something to do with someone like Frank Sawyer? I thought to myself."Frank Sawyer was a self-claimed philanthropist. He had adopted children all around the world and trained them to be his private guards when he was still alive. Those apprentices were professionals, brainwashed killing machines. They can penetrate, kill, and overt
Lucas' POVLycidas! He's coming for my wife!I stretched out my arms, trying to pull my wife back. But I didn't get hold of her.Instead, my arms were pulled up and pinned behind my back. Before I realized what happened, my face was pinned against the ground. I couldn't move my body at all. "Lycidas, don't hurt him!" I heard my wife's broken voice. She was terrified. She was begging someone for my life. The most humiliating thing in a man's life was his wife begging for mercy from another man.I growled, trying to push myself up, but I failed. It was at that time that I felt a foot stepping hard over my neck. My vision turned black. I could feel the bitterness in my mouth. It was my blood."What is it, Miss Torrington? Why are you crying like this? Have I ever done anything violent to scare you?" Lycidas' voice was slithering in my ears like an evil snake."No... Lycidas... Let go of him! He just wants to talk to me..." My wife's voice was trembling. "OK, now I see. He divorc
