When Maddox didn’t let me go, I turned to look at him. “Can I go now?”

Maddox shook his head and pulled me back to my seat. “No. Jo is fine. You need to eat.”

Now, I was getting annoyed. “Excuse me?” I said, just as my ass got placed down.

Maddox grabbed my chair and, with little effort, turned it so my legs were between his. My knees were just shy of being sandwiched between our chairs. “Listen, Jo is fine. I promise. Can you please just eat? We have to handle Katie before we can move on to the rest of the day’s activities.”

“What activities?” Looking around, Spencer and Vivian were actively avoiding my gaze.

Maddox smirked. “You will find out soon enough.”

Vivian abruptly stood up. “I’m finished!” She smiled at me before leaving.

“Me too.” Spencer nodded at Maddox before he smirked at me. “See you guys later.”

“Seriously?” I snapped at Maddox.

His hand came up and cupped my face, but he couldn’t keep the smile off his face as he tried to be serious.
