The Struggles

Amanda feels very tired already. It has been a month now since her mother was admitted to the hospital. And she needs to juggle three jobs to be able to meet all the needs they needed and pay bills at the same time. But inspite of her struggles, the cash still doesn't add up to the bills that needed to be payed.

She slowly opened the door to her mom's hospital room. She entered and slowly walk towards the seat next to her mom's bed. She heaves another heavy sigh. Her heart is very heavy just looking at her mom now. Who would think that the woman who was the epitome of health and beauty is slowly losing her body mass inside this four corner room?

A lone tear started to fall from her eyes. She immediately wiped it with the back of her hands. She can't afford to let her mom see her being weak. She needs to share her strength to her that way she will be happy passing to the other side when the time comes.

There's a lot of what ifs playing in her mind now. What it's about her asshole of a father. But then it will not make any difference now, won't it? Her mom is dying and no science can't save her anymore.

According to the doctors, the cancer cells has damaged 75% of her body already. And Laura Hale has only 6 months left to live.

Her good for nothing father did not even show up after her sister Janna informed him. He will never find forgiveness from her in this life. She swears that he will not get acknowledge or any help from her in the future. She's still wallowing in the bitterness that she felt towards her father when she saw Laura stirred a little. She immediately touch her mother's hand. Laura slowly opened her eyes and very weakly said,

"How are you holding up my love?"Tears immediately formed in her eyes as soon as her mom used the endearment she's using for her and Janna.

"Could have been better mom, could have been better,"she answered.

"I'm very sorry that I am becoming a burden to you. But know this that I am happy you're my daughter,"Laura answered.

Amanda brought her mom's hand to her lips and kissed it.

"Don't apologize mom, because it's not your fault. And plus me and Janna loves you so much that we never felt you being a burden at all." Amanda answered.

"Thank you so much love. I will always pray that there's someone worthy of you when it's time for you to get married," Laura smiled.

She just nodded to her mother eventhough she doesn't have any plans of marrying at all. Not when she was a witness to her dad's weakness and their sufferings.

She was contemplating of saying something to Laura when her mom's eyelids closed again. Amanda knew that her mother would go back to again. She looked at her wristwatch and she still have time to dozed off before Janna would relieve her and she can go home and prepare to face another day again.
