CHAPTER 07

MARSHA'S POV:-

"How could a mother leave her child totally helpless? Was she really Sierra's mother?" I asked Captain Falcon and he grinned proudly while looking at me. I was one of the smartest officers working under him. He knew he could expect that kind of question from me.

"That's why you are one of the smartest officers working under me. She was not Sierra's biological mother. Sierra was given to her by her sister, because she had lost her six children. She never gave birth to a single living child. All dead babies. She did not like her sister either, that was why she left." He replied and I felt pure rage inside my chest for that woman. Because of her selfishness, Sierra had suffered this much.

"So, Brian Doyle told us everything and we suspected her father and her step mother. We tried to find her real parents if they would have taken her back. But unfortunately, there were no traces of her biological parents. There was not a single trace to prove that she might have met her biological parents. We then tried to find the first wife of Sierra's father, Mrs Blake Belk. We found her somehow but unfortunately she had never seen Sierra after she left." He continued telling us the story while I opened the diary of Sierra. I had her photos. She was exactly like me but more stunning.

"What happened next? Did you find her?" Sara asked him and he shook his head. He sighed as he was really feeling bad.

"It was the first week of October when we found the whereabouts of the people who had Sierra. We went there but it was too late. They had burned that poor girl alive then left. But we were able to catch all of them. As I suspected, her father and her step mother were involved in all that. Her father denied it till his last breath but her step mom had accepted her fate. The honorable court decided to kill them both while the kidnappers are still into the jail." He replied and I looked at Sara who was staring at Captain Falcon's face. I shook my head and rolled my eyes.

I just did not know but I thought her father was not involved. Maybe he was punished falsely. Maybe he did not lie at all. Maybe it was his second wife who planned everything against Sierra. All those questions rose inside my head but I was sure about one thing. I might have become a cop to make them pay who destroyed my father. But I was still a cop to find out what really happened to Sierra. Something inside me was screaming that it was just the story captain Falcon had seen. The real story was buried somewhere deep inside this city and no one was able to reach it.

While going through the diary, something dropped on the floor. I bent in and picked it up. I frowned as I looked at that picture. It was the picture of a man. I did not know him at all. I have never seen him in my life but he still looked a lot familiar. His face reminded me of someone, but who, I did not know. "Oh, that's the kind man who had reported that Sierra was missing. It broke my heart when he saw her burned dead body. He was crying crazily. He must have loved her so much." Captain Falcon said while pointing his finger at the picture of the man. I sighed and shook my head. As I thought that I was thinking about someone I had never seen in my life.
