CHAPTER 04

MARSHA'S POV:-

When we came back to Ireland, we learned the most bitter truth of our lives. My dad's best friend, whom my father trusted most. He actually took everything from my dad.

When on one side I was sick, while on the other side, my father was fighting the man who he had trusted most. Dad went to his lawyer and turned out that his lawyer was actually with my dad's friend. They tricked my dad at the funeral of my mother and made him sign the papers that said my dad handed over everything to his friend.

My dad went to court to claim what was truly his but nobody listened to him. They proved my father as a crazy man and he was sent to the mental hospital.

After all that, my uncle came and took me to London. From Mira Lawrence, I became Marsha Alford. My uncle, Alford Lawrence was actually the step brother of my father. Even though they were step brothers, they both loved each other the most. My uncle took me in.

Uncle Lawrence was never dependent on anyone. My grandfather offered him fifty percent of everything he had but he refused saying that he has his own dreams to follow. My dad used to say, he did that to make sure the money would not come between their relationship.

Everything changed after he adopted me. And my father's so called friend, he presumed that I was dead. He knew the mental problem I was having. My dad had told him everything about my nightmares.

Uncle Lawrence helped me a lot in my life. He did not force me to do anything he wanted. He always gave me a free hand. I chose to become a cop and he proudly hugged me like my father would have hugged me.

But my plan was to become a cop in Ireland. My uncle stood by me and appreciated my decision. I came back to Ireland and applied to become a cop. I still had nightmares about Sierra but by then I was habitual of her and the horror she had brought into my life with her.

I came back and opened the case of my father. I was thankful to God who never let that case be closed. I came and found all the evidence against that man who destroyed my father and my family. The law finally stood against all the bad people and they were all punished for their deeds.

I never went back to London after that. I stayed here in Ireland. Not because it was my country and I loved to serve it as a cop. But because I never found my father. I tried to find him in every single mental hospital but he was nowhere to be found. I never found any traces for his death, so I still had a little flicker of hope that he was still alive.

Where was he or how was he? I did not know at all. But every night, I prayed to God to keep him safe and healthy. And also not to let me die in any battlefield before I would see the face of my father.

Just once, even if it would be at the last minute before my death, but I wanted to see my father. That was the only thing that was keeping me alive. Even with all the torture Sierra was giving me, I was still alive so I could see my father for the last time. And I knew it would happen soon.
