Tessa POV

I held the pregnancy test result in my hands, smiling with joy. After two long years of trying, I was finally pregnant. I couldn't wait to tell my husband.

I picked up my phone to call him, but then I thought it would be better to share the news in person.

That evening, I changed into a flowy white dress, wanting everything to be perfect. I cooked his favorite dinner—roast chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy—and set the table with candles and our best plates.

The clock hit 7:00 p.m., the time he usually arrived. I paced nervously in the living room, rehearsing what I would say to him.

For the past two years, things had been difficult between us. His anger toward me had grown, especially with the pressure to have a child. Every failed attempt seemed to drive us further apart. There were nights he barely spoke to me, mornings when he left without a word. This pregnancy felt like my only chance to repair our relationship.

7:30 p.m. passed. Then 8:00 p.m. I checked my phone, but there were no missed calls or texts. What was going on? By 9:00 p.m., I was already anxious.

The candles had burned down, and I was lying on the couch, almost asleep, when I heard his car in the driveway. My eyes snapped open, and I rushed to the door.

I opened it to find him with a cold look on his face, the strong smell of alcohol on him. I wanted to be angry, but my excitement made me ignore it, eager to share the good news.

"I have something to tell you," I said, holding up the pregnancy test.

He didn't respond. Instead, he walked past me, loosening his tie, as though he hadn't heard me. As I followed, I heard the click of high heels behind him. A woman stepped into the doorway, tall and confident, her hair styled perfectly, a smirk on her face.

My smile disappeared instantly. I stared at her, then back at him.

"Who is she?" I asked, my voice shaking.

He sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "I'm done with this, Tessa. I'm fucking done with you."

I froze, and the pregnancy test slipped from my hand, falling to the floor.

"What are you talking about?"

He stepped aside, letting the woman enter the house. She looked around at the burnt-out candles and untouched dinner with a mocking smile.

"This," he said, gesturing toward her, "is Maya. Unlike you, she can actually give me what I want—a child. She's pregnant with my baby."

I staggered back. That couldn't be true. "No... no, you don't mean that. I—I'm pregnant!" I cried.

"Don't listen to her, baby," the woman interrupted. "She's just lying to keep you. Don't fall for it," she said, while Caleb nodded in agreement.

"I'm not lying!" I shouted, tears streaming down my face. "I've been waiting all evening to tell you! Look!"

I grabbed the pregnancy test, which had landed on the floor, and reached out with trembling hands.

Before I could hand it to him, Maya snatched it away and ripped it in half, letting the pieces fall to the ground.

"Do you really think anyone will believe this? You probably had someone fake the result. Pathetic. Everyone knows you're infertile. You can't give him what he wants. And now you're lying about being pregnant? Have some dignity."

"Even now, you're trying to make a fool out of me," Caleb said, tossing a stack of papers at me.

"Sign these," he demanded. "We're done. I'm divorcing you. Maya is moving in, and you're leaving tonight."

I fell to my knees, clutching his pants as I sobbed. "I'm pregnant! Please believe me!"

Maya moved closer, standing beside Caleb. As I reached for him, begging him to listen, she shifted slightly, and I lost my balance, falling forward onto my stomach.

I accidentally brushed against her as I fell, clutching my stomach in pain, but then she gasped dramatically.

"Caleb!" she screamed, clutching her stomach. He quickly caught her before she hit the ground. "She pushed me! My baby!"

"What?" Caleb's face turned red as he glared at me.

"No, I didn't! I swear!" I cried, afraid of what he might do. "It was an accident—I didn't touch her!"

But Maya groaned loudly, clutching her stomach in apparent pain.

"You bitch." Before I could explain, his hand struck me hard across the face, sending me sprawling to the ground.

It was the first time he had ever hit me, and he wasn't finished. He shoved me so hard that I hit the corner of a coffee table with the back of my head.

Blood dripped from my mouth and head as I lay on the ground. Instinctively, I wrapped my hands around my stomach, still desperate to protect my baby, but then I felt a warm, wet sensation between my legs.

I panicked, realizing what was happening. My trembling hands reached out to Caleb, but he only stood there, his arm protectively around Maya.

"Please... help me," I begged.

For a moment, he seemed concerned, as though he was about to move toward me, but Maya tightened her grip on him, stopping him.

"Caleb, we need to go to the hospital. I'm scared for our baby," she said, her voice trembling as she clung to him.

I lay there, blood seeping from my head, my vision blurring. The room spun.

I reached out one last time toward Caleb, but he didn't move—not a single step.

Without a second thought, he guided Maya to the door.

"Don't leave me!" I screamed, my voice breaking. "I'm your wife! This is your child! Don't do this!"

He paused at the door but didn't look back. "Whenever you're done with your act, sign those papers and leave before I get back."

Then he left, taking Maya with him, closing the door behind them. I was left alone, curled on the cold floor, clutching my stomach as the pain grew worse.

I couldn't lose this baby. Not after everything I had been through.

With the last bit of strength I had, I reached for my phone. My fingers shook as I dialed 911.

"Help," I whispered when the operator answered. "Please... I'm pregnant... I'm bleeding..."

My breathing slowed, and the last thing I saw was the candlelight flickering out as everything around me faded to darkness.

  • Mistaken the CEO for My Husband   Chapter 17

Liam pov. She was trying so damn hard that I had to stop myself from smiling. Wanting to see how far she would go. I won’t lie, every movement she made made my chest tighten. And yet, I couldn’t help but think how cute it was that she was working so hard for my attention. I wasn’t complaining… hell, not one bit… but it was clear she didn’t know what she was getting herself into. I could feel my cock getting harder with every inch she moved closer. The way her fingers brushed my skin and the way her lips parted. Fuck, she was testing me, and I wasn’t sure whether to laugh or lose it. She thought she could make me lose control with a few sweet little moves? Cute. It was cute. But she had no idea how much I’d been holding back for months. Still, I decided to play along, but the second her lips touched mine… everything snapped. I didn’t give a damn about holding back anymore. She pulled back with a smug smile. “You wish. I…” I didn’t let her finish. I grabbed her and crushed m

  • Mistaken the CEO for My Husband   Chapter 16

Tessa/Emma pov Earlier that day… The woman in the video had said I should wear a red lingerie set. Holding my phone in one hand, I walked over to my closet, skimming through my clothes, but none of them were sexy enough—nothing like what the woman in the video had suggested. “What to do… what to do?” I muttered, pacing back and forth. I couldn’t ask Mrs. Keller or any of the other maids to help me with this; that would be way too awkward. And I certainly couldn’t leave the mansion without Liam knowing—no, that would ruin the surprise. I sighed in frustration and flopped down on the bed, staring up at the ceiling. Then, with a shrug, I clicked on a website and found an online store that sold lingerie. Maybe this would work after all. After scrolling for about 10 minutes, I finally found the perfect set. Liam had given me a personal black card, which I eagerly used to place the order. It wasn’t exactly what I had planned, but it would do. Once I was done, I went downstairs to star

  • Mistaken the CEO for My Husband   Chapter 15

Tessa/Emma POVFor over a week after that incident with the strange man, I started having weird dreams. But whenever I woke up, it was impossible to piece them together. It was like knowing you forgot something but not what it was. The feeling stayed, but the dream itself was just… gone.Thank God for Liam. He had been patient with me, always by my side, reassuring me that everything was okay. With his help, I finally got better and returned to my old self. But then something happened at work, and Liam had to return, leaving me alone in the big mansion. Well, not completely alone—Mrs. Keller was still around. Lila also had an art class that Wednesday, so the house felt quieter than usual. And honestly? It was so boring.I lay on the couch, lazily scrolling through social media when a cooking video caught my attention. The dish looked amazing, but what really made me pause was the name.Chicken Marsala. It was Liam’s favorite dish.I remembered him mentioning how much he liked it once,

  • Mistaken the CEO for My Husband   Chapter 14

Liam’s POV“When you left… the man I bumped into at the gala… he came into my room,” she finally managed to say.I was furious, but I kept my anger in check and nodded for her to continue.“He wouldn’t stop calling me Tessa…” She said that name with bitterness, and I found myself swallowing hard. “He said I was using you to get back at him… and… and…”“And what?”She closed her eyes as if summoning the courage to go on. “He… he touched me,” she said, and a sad sigh escaped her lips.“He touched you?” I snarled through clenched teeth, and she flinched again.Fuck.“No! No…” she rushed to say, shaking her head as tears welled up in her eyes. “Not like that. He just… held me. His hands were on my shoulders, and he… he kissed my neck.” Her voice cracked, and she looked away. “But even then… it felt…” She stopped, a small sob slipping out as the tears finally began to fall. “It felt disgusting.”I gently brushed her arm as she sobbed, trying to calm the raging storm inside me.She pulled h

  • Mistaken the CEO for My Husband   Chapter 13

Liam POV I spent the entire night completely restless. Turning and tossing as if my body couldn’t find peace. Sleep teased me, leaving me staring at the ceiling for hours. By the time the faint rays of sunlight flickered into the room, I gave up entirely. Sighing heavily, I got out of bed and took a quick shower to help me mask how jagged I looked but that did little to nothing. Staring at my reflection, I had now gathered dark circles under my eyes. When I finally made my way downstairs for breakfast, Mrs Keller greeted me with news I didn’t want to hear. “She hasn’t come down yet,” she said cautiously, her eyes studying me as if searching for answers. Immediately, I lost my appetite. The thought of food turned my stomach. Mrs. Keller continued to be persistent, she followed me as I sat on a table. “Liam,” she said softly, “what really happened last night?” I rubbed a hand over my face, the guilt pressing down like a weight I couldn’t lift. “I messed up,” I muttered.

  • Mistaken the CEO for My Husband   Chapter 12

Liam's POV I messed up! My fists clenched as I shut the door behind me. Standing in front of it, I tried to calm myself, but the image of her terrified face kept replaying in my head. F**k! I messed up so bad. How could I let myself snap like that? Out of the corner of my eye, I felt someone watching me, but when I turned, no one was there. My jaw clenched in frustration. Pushing through the crowd, I ignored everyone who called my name as I hurried outside towards where my car was parked. But when I got there, my driver was nowhere to be found. I would’ve left without him, but he had the keys, which only made me more furious. I dialed his number multiple times, but it kept ringing without an answer. Gritting my teeth, I groaned and punched the air in frustration. On the fourth ring, he finally picked up. “Where the f**k are you?” I sneered, my voice dripping with anger. “I’m sorry, boss. I just stepped out to get something to eat and—” “Get your ass here in t

  • Mistaken the CEO for My Husband   Chapter 11

“Ahh…” I cried out in pain, my knees bucked and I nearly lost my balance. Liam’s arms were around me instantly. I could see the worry in his eyes as he searched my face. “Emma, what’s wrong?” “I—” I winced, clutching my head. “I don’t know. Something… it feels like I should remember… but it hurts.” The harder I tried to grasp at the fleeting memory, the more it slipped away, like trying to catch smoke with my bare hands. “Don’t force it,” Liam said, his grip tightened protectively around me. “You’re okay.” But I wasn’t. I wasn’t okay. Before I could even attempt to steady myself, he swept me off my feet, cradling me against his chest. “I can walk…” I tried to protest, weakly pushing at his chest. “Stop arguing,” he said firmly, though there was an edge to his voice, like he was holding something back. “You’re not fine.” I let my head fall against him, my ear pressed to his chest, listening to his heart thudding faster than normal. He carried me through the c

  • Mistaken the CEO for My Husband   Chapter 10

Tessa/Emma pov I had only been at the gala for ten minutes, and I was already regretting everything. Not because of Liam. No, his eyes had been on me the entire time. But because of her.The woman he couldn’t seem to stop talking to. She was annoyingly gorgeous—tall, blonde, the perfect picture of elegance. For some reason, she had been glued to Liam’s side all evening, laughing at everything he said, tilting her head in that coy, flirty way that made me want to roll my eyes. I should’ve known the dress wouldn’t be enough. They were talking about some business deal. So they were business partners, I scoffed silently, though my chest tightened at the thought of them spending most time together. As if to make things worse, they were laughing at some joke that wasn’t even funny and her hand lightly brushed his arm. I waited patiently, hoping Liam would introduce me into the conversation, but for some odd reason, he didn’t. I sighed, plastering a polite smile on my fac

  • Mistaken the CEO for My Husband   Chapter 9

Liam’s POV The hotel room was cold and unwelcoming, but it was the only way I could escape. For over a week, I had been sleeping here, convincing myself it was the only option. Not that I wanted to be away from her…it was the exact opposite….but sharing a bed with Tessa was like torture. The last night we slept together, I nearly lost my mind. She had moved so much in her sleep, her hands constantly finding their way to me…resting on my chest, my stomach, even slipping down to places they had no business being. Every single time, my body betrayed me. I had gotten hard more times than I could count and my entire body burning from just her innocent touch. I had spent the whole night wide awake, forcing myself not to give in, to stay in control. It had been hell. Fucking hell on earth. If it happened again, I knew I wouldn’t be able to stop myself. And that… that wouldn’t be good for either of us. Not with the way things were. So I lied. I lied again. I know, I am pathetic. I t
