Steady Trust

“I do believe Adam.”

Adam smiled over the phone and I couldn't help but get drawn towards his dimples. They made him look so cute admists his stubbled face. He has grown a few and always trimmed them. He even looked more mature and a sexy guy.

“Then don't listen to others about us. It's us that will define our relationship and not them. Okay. And besides am not that kind of guy who makes love with a girl two years ago and then decides to leave her.” He said it as a joke and I remembered my first time. A red blush appeared on both sides of my cheeks. At first painful but then I was drowned into the sea of pleasure. Adam made love to me that night. I still couldn't believe I had my first time at just fifteen. I told no one about it not even Meghan who's my closest and best friend here. It was my own secret to share with only Adam.

I slightly chuckled and Adam did so as well. “Someone looks kinda tired. Where you at school all day?” I asked and sipped a bit of my strawberry smoothie. Adam sighed. “Well I wasn't at school all day to be precise. I actually bagged a job at a tech company part time. I started today.” There was lots of happiness in his voice as he told me about getting a job. I was surprised and amazed as well. He never told me he was even looking for one to have as a part time job.

“I didn't know you were even looking for one.” I said and he chuckled. “Actually I need the extra cash for my project coming up. With my programming skills, I was accepted without a stern interview.” He replied. “That's really amazing. Am so happy for you Adam.” I said honestly. I knew Adam wasn't the type to fully depend on his mother. We both had that in common too. We both were raised by single parents. Adam's dad divorced his mom when he was only eight years. It deeply affected him but overtime he grew to become accustomed to it all. I on the other hand, I lost my dad in an accident. He was my everything and I was fully dependent on him. But after he passed away, I noticed I was alone despite the fact that I had a mother. It was like I didn't even exist at all. Until Adam came into my life.

“I know you are. Am guessing you're on your lunch break.” Adam asked. I nodded my head. “Yeah and am trying to solve some math problems. You have no idea how tiring it is.” I said and exhaled loudly with a pout. Adam laughed. “Can I help you with that?” He offered and I smiled. “You're such a darling.” I said and showed him some of the math equations. He scanned through them and helped me understand it a lot better. I wondered what I did in my life to deserve such a nice and caring boyfriend like Adam.

It was why I had made it my ultimate goal to study accounts and work for him in the near future. I didn't tell Adam about my plans because I knew he wouldn't accept. He would want me to be very independent and I am. But my zeal and wish to be closer to Adam all the time was a lot stronger. Call me clingy but that's my way. I knew Adam would become successful in the future. He had the brains to do that and I would be elated to work for him. I trusted in his capabilities and everything about him.

“You know what. Sometimes I feel like am in a dream. And you're just simply magical.” I had to say and Adam did blush. “Well I hope I am. I love you so much Ana. Being far away from you is killing me but I want to believe that what we have is strong. And that we can get past it all until we see each other physically too. To be honest, sometimes the thought comes to my mind that I should grab my luggage and fly back to LA just to see you again. To feel and hold you close in my arms not ever letting go. How does that sound?” He said and I sighed. Even I would wish he would. “No babe. You're in the middle of your semester and can't come to LA now. Maybe during spring break? I really miss you a lot Adam. I also want to hold you close and engulf within your arms. No one wants that more than me.” I replied and he smiled.

“Yeah. You've got a point there Ana. I promise to try and visit this spring. I will. For us.” He said and I got the feeling that I might be seeing him even sooner than I had expected. I was all giddy up inside. I couldn't wait to see him again. “I will definitely. You know I never break my promises.” Adam winked and I blushed so hard. “And besides I need a little break during spring. Especially from Lila.” Adam said nonchalantly and shrugged and that made me go still.

“Lila? Who's Lila?” I asked. I wasn't tensed at all but this was the first time Adam had mentioned a girl's name who wasn't a part of his extended family or me. It simply took me by surprise. “An annoying girl in my department.” Adam's brows twitched in frustration. “I mean she wasn't but then switched to my department. She's so weird.” Adam replied. And I wondered if this Lila chick was hitting on my boyfriend.

“She follows me around and always tries to get my attention. It's so annoying Ana. No matter how many times I tell her to stay away from me, she doesn't. She always wants to be around me. And even worse we got paired up to work on a project together...”

“What!” I gasped and I looked around me. All eyes were on me because of the way I screamed out loud in the cafeteria. I returned my gaze to my screen and even Adam was shocked by my screams. “Sorry.” I whispered to him. “Are you fine Ana? Why did you scream like that?” Adam asked.

“Nothing. Forget it. But tell me who's this Lila girl that's basically stalking you all the time? And now you're working on the same project as her? I don't like her at all.” I stated out before I could shut my mouth but I was glad I said it. I needed to state my opinions. The more he talked about this Lila girl, the more I was having a dislike for her.

Adam sighed over the phone. “She says she's interested in me.” He said and all the hairs on my body rose up in alert. “Relax Ana I turned her down. Not once but so many times. But she's damn insistent too.” Adam smiled. And I recall Liam. Liam always bothered me and always said he liked me but I also turned him down so many times. Him and Lila were like gross leaches.

“Fine. I won't act like the jealous girlfriend but she better stay far away from my guy. She should get her hands off because you're mine.” I said and Adam's smile widened. “Hmm, I like you being possessive about me. It turns me on so much.” Adam said and his voice got hoarse at the end. I chuckled and blushed at the same time. “But hey, I only have eyes for you Ms. Robinson. Lila might be annoying but she's sweet too. Don't get mad please. Only you rule my heart Ana. No one else. Okay?” Adam assured me and I smiled. I was calm but the mention of Lila bothered me a lot. He was so far away that I couldn't reach him at the moment but I trusted him. My trust was steady and firm. I choose to trust him but not that Lila.

My thoughts were interrupted by the sound of the bell. My next lecture was starting soon. “I heard it. You should run off to class. We'll talk again soon babe. I love you so much and don't you ever forget that.” Adam said with a smile. I giggled while blushing as well. “I love you too my Adam Miller.” I blew him a kiss and we ended the video call. I parked my books together inside my back and finished sipping my smoothie before I stood up and I bumped into Meghan.

“Hey come on. We have the same lecture right now. Let's go.” Meghan said and I shoved my bag over my shoulder and we were off towards our next class.
