Chapter 1

I was a stray pup.

At five years old, several elite warriors captured me, brought me to the most powerful pack, and threw me in front of the Alpha heir, Lucas.

I heard his wolf talking to Lucas in his mind.

The wolf’s voice was cold. "Lucas, this damn little thing is a hybrid of a werewolf and an evil witch. The prophecy shows she will be extremely vicious in the future, even killing your Mate. For the Moon Goddess, you must kill her now to protect your future Luna."

I stood frozen on the spot.

Evil hybrid? Was he talking about me?

It looked like they intended to tear me into pieces.

Lucas agreed carelessly, his eyes slowly turning red—the precursor to shifting.

The next second, he saw me standing blankly on the ground, looking up at him.

The coldness on his face collapsed, replaced by incredulous mockery. He pointed at me and questioned his wolf in the mind link.

"Seriously? Dude, you’re saying this five-year-old tiny thing is a homicidal maniac? How vicious can she be? Cursing the future Luna with a lollipop?"

His wolf explained.

"Don't be fooled by appearances; this is a black magic disguise. Once she awakens her powers, the whole Pack will suffer."

They were too noisy. Intense hunger made my vision go dark, and fear was thrown to the back of my mind.

I reached out my dirty little hand, tugged the corner of Lucas's expensive shirt, and looked up. "Big brother, I'm so hungry."

His wolf gasped.

"Holy shit! As expected of a little demon with witch blood, this charm spell is natural! She actually called you big brother the moment she saw you! Lucas, don't look at her eyes; she's mind-controlling you! Quick, bite her throat out!"

Lucas froze. "Damn it, but she called me big brother."

His wolf was incredibly serious.

"Think about your Mate! The perfect partner the Moon Goddess bestowed upon you—are you willing to let her die at the hands of this monster?"

At the mention of his Mate, Lucas's eyes instantly became firm. He prepared to shift again.

But the moment he picked me up, he felt my weight—light as a ball of cotton.

He looked at my body, starved to just bones, and hesitated.

"Anyway, the mate hasn't appeared yet. Might as well let her eat first. Even when we execute rogues, we usually let them eat their fill before killing them."

His wolf replied, "Makes sense... but after she's full, you can't hesitate again!"

After eating, I was too sleepy to keep my eyes open.

"Big brother, I want to sleep."

His wolf frowned and growled low in his mind.

"Although this cub is indeed... okay, a bit cute, like a lost puppy. But! Lucas, an Alpha cannot be swayed by emotions. Even if she calls us big brother, for the safety of the Pack, we have to do it!"

Lucas got thoroughly angry.

"Hey, what do you mean 'us'? She only called me big brother! You stupid wolf, she can't see you!"

The man and the wolf argued endlessly in the spiritual world.

By the time they finally quieted down, I was already curled up on the thick shag carpet, breathing evenly.

His wolf sighed.

"Stop messing around. Be a real Alpha and do it."

Lucas lowered his head, looked at me, and said:

"No rush, let's wait until she wakes up. Sneak attacking a sleeping cub? That's not what an Alpha does; that's the dirty work of a rogue."

His wolf pondered, even flicking his tail.

"Point taken. Maybe when she wakes up, she'll call us... cough, I mean, since she's awake, we can give her a fair trial."
