CH.6 Piece of her Identity

"Where did it come from?" She whispered, making Philip turn around.

"I don't know, but the police wanted me to check this," Philip uttered while raising his hand to show the things in his hand.

"But look, there is an initial letter written on its back," Philip added, as he saw something on the necklace. He stretched his right arm to give the necklace to his wife.

"I don't even remember that I owned this kind of jewel, but I guess in the initial letter that it owned this," Daniela uttered while her eyes kept on reading the embroidered letter on its back.

  "S"

The capital letter S was the initials that were written on it. Philip ran his right hand on his head as he thought about the letter that was written on the golden necklace.

"I'm pretty sure that the initial S means Selene. Let's look for the other things that she owns rather than the necklace." Philip suddenly uttered as he had a line of thought as he remembered the name of the baby.

"Mr. and Mrs. Montreal, did you own that?" Tall and muscular policeman cut off the conversation between the couple.

Daniela stared at her husband. She didn't want to interfere with the decision of her husband about that situation.

She bit her lower lips as she looked at Philip who was standing in front of the muscular police officer.

"Sir, I don't want to be a liar. For your information, we did not own this kind of thing..." Philip suddenly spoke that making Daniela to lour.

But before Philip turned back the necklace, he spoke again, which made the other three feel shocked.

"However, I have an idea who is the owner of the jewels," Philip spoke as he faced the two police officers. He looked at his wife before he spoke.

"Last night, I found a baby girl outside our house. She has some clothes inside our home and I know that she owns this necklace because I know that I left her things outside because of the heavy rain. If you wish, can you please tell me if there is some that you found together with this necklace to let me know if there is some that I can show you the same as yours?" Philip sincerely asked.

After Philip told the whole story he experienced, the police officers seemed like they knew that Philip was telling the truth.

The muscular police officer nodded his head and the other one turned around and walked toward the police mobile. Daniela and Philip waited for the police to come back.

When another police officer came back, he held a basket made of roots and other weeds.

"Mr. Montreal, this wooden basket with some pieces of clothes are the things that we found near that necklace. And if you tell the truth, can you give me some evidence that the baby you found owns them?" The muscular police uttered. Philip turned around and stared at Daniela.

"Daniela, bring the baby here and her clothes. We need to know if she owns everything in here." Philip said with authority, which Daniela immediately followed

After a moment, Daniela came back carrying Selene and some of her old clothes. When the police looked at Daniela and the baby, they could not believe that Philip was telling the truth as they saw the baby in the arms of Daniela.

The police saw the healthy baby girl wagging her feet in the air. She seemed to be enjoying the warm breeze and the greenery surrounding her after the storm.

"So this is the baby that you told us, Mr. Montreal." Police with chubby bellies and bald ones spoke. Daniela nodded her head and she waited for Philip to speak.

"Mr. Police, here are the things that belong to the baby. And I guess the things you hold are similar to the things that we have now." Philip uttered, which made the two police satisfied with what they saw.

They nodded their heads and the bald police officer gave the basket to Philip.

"Mr. Montreal, because you are telling the truth, you have permission to hold her things. But we wanted to tell you that you needed to bring the baby to our station to know if her parents were looking for her. In particular, the storm brought us bad weather last night. You need to take her into custody to let her parents notice her as soon as possible." The muscular policeman uttered before they left the home of the two couples.

Daniela and Philip looked at each other meaningfully as the police mobile set out.

"Daniela, let's go. We need to go to the police station," Philip uttered. Daniela quickly turned around and walked away toward their home while carrying Selene.

As Daniela walked away, Philip followed her and he closed the gate before leaving. Daniela put the baby on the floor, guarded with some soft cotton pillows to become a temporary crib for the baby.

After laying the baby down, Philip and Daniela went to the table to eat their breakfast. They immediately took their meal to finish it as early as they could. They did not have any conversation while eating.

After a few minutes, Daniela and Philip finished their breakfast. Daniela immediately cleaned the table and Philip went upstairs to take his bath. Because after him, Daniela would take her bath too and he would be the guardian of the baby downstairs.

The car started. Daniela with the baby gets in the car beside Philip. After wearing the seatbelt, Philip drove the car away from their home to reach the police station located far from their subdivision.

"Philip, what if Selene's parents are looking for her? What will we do?" Daniela asked, feeling a little melancholy in her voice.

"Daniela, her parents have the right to find her. And if that happens, we should do the right thing," Philip replied.

"Philip, I don't want to lose Selene. My heart seemed so light as I looked at her. She looked like my daughter even though we are not the same in flesh and blood." Daniela spoke again with a trace of sadness in her voice.

Philip removed his right hand from the steering wheel and tapped the left knee of his wife. He knew how hard to lose the only happiness of a woman he loved and he wished that Selene would be with them forever to make Daniela happy.

"Don't worry Daniela. Everything is okay. Just believe in fate." Philip briefly replied as he took a deep breath.

"Sigh."

Daniela embraced the soft body of Selene covered with a thick jacket.

After a long time of running, they reached the main city of Bellevue, the boundary of their town where the tall and modern buildings were located.

Selene was still awake and she kept on wagging her feet, seeming like she was happy to see the world that was so beautiful.
