“She is my mate. I had met her years ago… and now, I found her again.” November’s Father declared. “She will be your Alpha female from now on.”
The hallway filled with silence, eyes zeroed to the two strangers standing before them. “And this is Nicole…November she is your little sister.”
November stared at the little girl, she has unusual eyes. For a wolf shifter, her eyes were slanted dramatically that almost resembles of a cat, just eleven and in human form but Nicole’s eyes were already of a wolf’s. Gleaming gold, November didn’t know if those were fangs peeking in her closed lips.
Her gaze met by the younger girl, none of them blinked or turned away. November could smell it from the eleven year old girl, her little sister. Nicole is her Father’s daughter, he’s very own blood, a child with the mate he had bonded. November also immediately smelled the resentment coming from her Father’s mate and that moment she knew she is seen as a threat.
2015, Manhattan, New York City
The sound of the door quietly closing alerted her of the new arrival.
First, it was the sent, it sent shivers down her spine.
“Good Morning.”
Second, it was the voice. November’s back stiffens. She sat very still in her chair, her hands gripping the book she was holding.
She bit her lip, her heart started pounding against her chest. The hairs on her nape stood on its end, there was a feeling of rush, a feeling of something inside her wanting to claw its way out.
“Morning! How can I help you today?”
Human.
“Hello.”
“So what book would it be today, Son?”
It’s him!
November craned her neck and she stifled a gasp. It was really him! And he looks very handsome! Three months ago he was blond, now he isn’t! If she thought blond made him look like a dream, this dark haired man is like someone who lives and only exists inside a wet dream!
Mate.
A full human.
The first time November saw him was three months ago, she had locked into his scent like a vice. When she saw him smile, she almost went feral. She swore her soul left her body for a moment when he sat beside her at the train. That was the precious moment their paths had crossed. His scent was so strong, so overwhelming, so, so delicious that she wanted to roll over it all day everyday if he’d just let her. His pull to her was so strong it almost made her reeling when he stepped out of the train. She stopped herself from following him though, but every day since then she thought of him.
She thinks about him and dreams of him without even knowing his name because she knew… he is the mate the Moon God had made for her.
She wasn’t able to help it, she growled lowly that it almost sounded like a purr.
“Are you okay?” A stranger was cocking her brow across her.
November watches him across the library hall as he got the book he wanted and starts to leave quietly. The wolf inside her growled in longing. Maybe there was something in the air, or maybe it was destiny but as he exists the doors, he looked back and their gazes met. His eyes widen a little just as the doors shut close.
November knew at that moment time went still, she had found her mate. She just have one problem though, he’s human. If Jennie was around she’d have killed November already. Having enhanced hearing, despite sitting nine tables away from the counter where the man of her dreams stood earlier, she heard what the librarian was saying to his colleague. “Leonidas Maximilian just borrowed that book.”
“Oh, the guy that just left?”
“Yeah…”
Leonidas Maximilian She licks her lips. Gods. “Leonidas…” his name is Leoni-!
“Hey! November!” her friend hissed.
November jumped and turned to her friend, “What?”
“I thought we’re leaving now? Come on we still have a presentation with the professors. See if we can graduate you know…”
His name is Leonidas Maximilian…
She starts to smile until she smelled anger. The danger that started to linger in the walls of the library. She smelled wolf. She stood up abruptly that her chair fell back taking everyone’s attention. Her heart hammering, she knew they’re everywhere, she knew they wouldn’t attack her where full humans are everywhere, but she knew they’re tracking her. They will wait, like the predator that she is too. They will wait until she’s alone and then they’re going to attack.
“November? What’s wrong?”
November almost whimpered. Her friend, her human friend will be dead by tomorrow if she doesn’t stop them first. They kill anyone she gets close to. They track her, she runs, sometimes she fights back but it’s all a cycle and none of them are giving up.
Leonidas. Oh no… They will kill him too.
Although sacrifices need to be done, she grabbed her things and without any explanations she left, not looking back. Not answering her bellowing friend. She needs to make sure no humans will die because of her today.
She had lost too much already.
2007
“November! GO!! RUN! NOW!”
She holds on her hand for dear life. “Come with me Jennie!”
Harsh rain poured, the earth muddy. Rain always messed with wolf’s abilities. It hinders them to smell for scents.
Jennie held her hand that grips Jennie’s other arm. She stared into November’s eyes and smiled ruefully. “Someone has to stay for the kids. Go… if you die… it will be the end for us. Hide so none of them can follow you. They will be hot on your tail my dear friend.”
November shook her head in panic. “I can stay and face everyone… I am the Alpha now!”
Then they hear it, from the distance, barks and growls and howls nearing where they are. Jennie squeezed her hand, ignoring her words, “Go… don’t mind us… we will be fine… I heard from other shifters that USA is full of different wolf packs, different shifters that mingles among humans peacefully… you will be mostly left unnoticed for you will be alone… just keep yourself safe… if they came to follow you, they won’t be able to act freely for wolves of other packs are roaming the streets of that place. That will give you advantage in the future. We will look for you… we will take you back but by that time be strong…be stronger than you already are, November.”
Jennie continued. “Your sister’s Mother is too strong for you right now, she is the Alpha! Not you! Some years from now she will no longer be one and that’s when you come back and takes back your place in the pack. In the meantime… run and keep yourself safe.”
November cried, she shook her head and grasped Jennie’s hand tighter.”
Jennie glares at her. “November… do not… I repeat, do not comeback unless I, myself calls on you. Don’t be a hero and try to save us. We can handle this and we can take care of ourselves. Promise me you will not show yourself unless I called for you! Promise me my dear friend…”
Tears blurred November’s eyes, “I promise.”
Jennie forcefully pulled her hand back and took a step back. “One more thing... If you ever crosses path with your mate… I suggest you stay away from him, don’t even think of marking him or bonding with him or mating with him because they will only want him dead too, like you. He will be a threat to your stepmother and your little sister. He is going to be an Alpha of Luna Puer Pack with you as his female. For that reason, they will want him dead.”
UNDERGROUND ARENA(HOUND FIGHTS FOR SHIFTERS)From a monitor, Nicole watches in glee as a carcass of a leopard shifter were being pulled by the leg by some guys. The arena was still on full blast. Ever since she had sent Eldric and Kai in the arena for hound fights she had been coming tirelessly. She wants to see them kill or get killed slowly just like how Jennie is slowly dying in the Luna Puer Estate.Nicole smiles as Kai curls in a ball inside the metal caged ring. His whole body aches, despite his wounds, cuts and cruises were healing. Some stopped healing at all. When too much trauma were caused in one’s shifter body some wounds will stop healing and turn into scars.
November shut the door quietly, her tears quietly falling down her cheeks. Justice, Victor, and Minzy are not around anymore. She quietly moved towards her room. Intending to lick her own wounds. She has no one to blame but herself after all. She did this to herself. Her choices are her downfall. Her choices made her husband hate her, made Leo see her as a monster. She suddenly felt so tired. Mindlessly she reached for her phone, it blinks in a notification. Three voice mails from her brother-in-law. “November this is where the Tacita Mortes pack draws the line,” Alexander said voice drained of emotions. The lodge in her throat became liquid, she wants t
“November imprinted you, Leonidas.”“Imprint?”“The bite mark at the back of your neck?”Leo’s brows furrowed, he unconsciously reached for it. The bite mark had been there for so long and it never completely heals. It burns when a woman, not his wife was near to him and burns sometimes for some reason he doesn’t understand. His brother sighed. “Sometimes, a wolf-shifter when the wolf inside them took over our consciousness, when we we
November feels like her heart was about to explode, every day for the past week since she last saw her husband. She was mainly afraid of what he might say, especially with his first expression when he found out the truth. He looked so shocked, angry, and disgusted. Now that it has been days and with Alexander helping to shed light in their world and with Minzy being Leo’s everyday caretaker some realizations have obviously sunk in already. Now they had to leave the Northlands and go to Nova Scotia to face Nicole and unite the Luna Puer Pack. Also, their stay in the North Lands will sooner or later be found out by Tacita Mortes Pack and they cannot stay longer. Alexander won’t tell, that much November believes in since Alex wouldn’t betray his younger brother that way. He might choose or be forced to choose by his current circumstances b
Minzy tilts her head, “You did not know about November’s real identity?”Leo laughs bitterly, “All the time we’d spend together is when she’s human.”It was so beguiling for Minzy, truly. She smiles, “All the times she’d been with you, she’d always been a wolf-shifter.”She had never met a human before. When she was young the only person closest to a human she’d interacted with was Victor and he’s a half-breed. Humans had always been either just an entity from another world then they had become a hindrance to their peaceful world. When Nicole reigned the Lunar Puer Pack, humans had b
Wolf November lashed out at another wolf, snapping its neck from the strong clamp of her jaws, her canines digging hard and deep into its opponent’s neck, she tasted his blood and the hitch of its broken breathing and mewling of a dying wolf. Growls and snarls were all over the place as the rest of them jumped into her at the same time. She howls when one bit the back of her hind leg and the other had slashed her back. Her white fur is now bloody as blood from the slashes gushed out. Twisting her body she threw the dead wolf away and slashed the other one. Saliva drips down her mouth as she swiftly moved to crash her body into another wolf, growling and snarling at each other. The other wolf yowls in pain when she bit into its belly, taking a part of its flesh, and watches when
