Chapter 011

With his hand grazing my inner thigh, I froze, every nerve in my body alight, trembling beneath the weight of his touch. His palm was warm, deliberate, sliding slowly upward as though he had all the time in the world to claim me.

A sharp breath escaped me, my lips parting as my knees threatened to give way.

“Draven—” I whispered, but his name came out broken, caught between a plea and a warning.

His eyes darkened, burning down into mine like he could devour every thought I tried to hide. “Say my name again.”

The command in his tone sent a shiver racing down my spine. My chest rose and fell too fast, my pulse hammering in my throat.

“Draven…” softer this time, but heavy with the ache building inside me.

His lips hovered dangerously close, not quite touching, but his breath ghosted over my skin, feeding the fire pooling low in my stomach. His thumb traced along my hip, then pressed firmer against the curve of my waist, holding me in place as though I belonged there, trapped between him and the cold wall.

“You drive me insane, little wolf,” he muttered, voice roughened with restraint. “Do you have any idea what you’re doing to me?”

I swallowed hard, shaking my head though my body betrayed me, arching subtly into his touch. His hand moved higher, skimming the sensitive skin of my inner thigh, dragging my skirt with it. My breath hitched as the cool air hit bare flesh.

“Tell me to stop,” he growled softly, his lips brushing my jaw. “Just one word, and I’ll walk away.”

But I didn’t. I couldn’t. My hands fisted in his shirt, pulling him closer even as every rational part of me screamed to push him back.

Instead, what slipped past my lips was a broken whisper. “Don’t stop. Please……..don’t stop”

His low, guttural sound of approval vibrated through me, and in the next heartbeat his mouth was on mine, hard, claiming, relentless. The kiss stole the air from my lungs, sent sparks coursing through every inch of me.

His tongue slid against mine, demanding, coaxing, and I gave in without thought, drowning in the way he tasted, dark and intoxicating.

His hand pressed higher, fingers brushing dangerously close to the very ache that had been tormenting me since I met him.

My legs trembled, a helpless whimper slipping from me as heat shot straight through my core.

“Draven…” I gasped against his mouth, and he caught the sound, swallowing it like a man starved.

Draven’s kiss deepened, his mouth moving over mine with a hunger that stripped me bare. His hand gripped my thigh, lifting it until it hooked around his waist, his body pressing flush against mine. The hard lines of him left no doubt of his arousal, and the friction sent a violent shudder tearing through me.

“Gods, Rain,” he groaned against my lips, “you have no idea how badly I want to taste every inch of you.”

My fingers tangled in his hair, desperate, tugging him closer even as shame warred with desire inside me. But my body didn’t care. My body only knew need.

His mouth trailed down my neck, hot and open, teeth scraping lightly over the place where his mark would someday sit. I gasped, hips rolling instinctively against him, seeking relief.

He hissed in approval, voice rough, ragged. “That’s it, little wolf. Show me what you need.”

His hand slid beneath the thin fabric of my dress, fingers brushing against my soaked center. I cried out softly, the sound muffled by his shoulder as I bit down, trying to contain the waves crashing through me.

“Fuck,” he growled, his lips dragging back to mine, kissing me hard as his fingers stroked once, twice, in maddeningly slow circles. “You’re dripping for me already. Sweet goddess, you’re perfect.”

The world blurred, all sound gone except the pounding of my pulse and his dark, hungry whispers.

“Draven… please…” I begged, not even sure what I was asking for, only knowing I needed more.

His thumb pressed harder, his fingers dipping just enough to make my legs tremble violently around him. Pleasure ripped through me in hot sparks, building fast, unstoppable.

I was so close, so impossibly close—

And then—

A throat cleared.

The sound snapped through the haze like a blade.

Draven froze, his lips still brushing mine, his hand still pressed intimately between my thighs, but his body went rigid.

“Amelia,” he said darkly, without turning.

I startled, pushing at his chest weakly as my face burned, shame and fury crashing through me in equal measure.

The Luna stood at the edge of the garden path, arms crossed, eyes cool.

“Enjoying your… tour?” she asked smoothly, though the faint curl of her lips betrayed her satisfaction at catching us.

Draven’s body was still taut with tension, his chest rising and falling against mine as if he was one second away from ignoring her entirely. But slowly, he pulled back, though his hand lingered at my waist longer than it should have.

Amelia’s smile was soft, practiced, the kind that made her look welcoming even when her eyes gleamed with something darker. “I must apologize,” she said, stepping further into the garden. “I didn’t mean to intrude.”

The way she said it, light and airy, told me she meant every word of the opposite.

My face burned. I tugged the hem of my dress down, desperate to hide the evidence of what had just nearly happened.

Draven didn’t bother hiding his scowl. “Amelia, I didn’t hear you coming”

Amelia tilted her head, feigning innocence. “And spoil the… moment?” Her gaze flicked briefly to me, lingering just long enough to make my stomach twist. “No, I wouldn’t dream of it.”

Her tone was sweet as honey, but her eyes were steel.

I swallowed hard, my pulse still racing from Draven’s touch, my body screaming in frustration while my mind scrambled to mask my embarrassment.

“I was simply wondering if your guest would prefer to rest before the feast tonight,” Amelia continued, her words directed at Draven but her focus fixed on me. “She must be so… overwhelmed. This place, this company, it can be a lot to take in.”

Something in the way she said this company made me shiver, though the smile on her face never faltered.

Draven’s jaw tightened. “She’ll be fine.”

“I’m sure she will,” Amelia replied smoothly, her gaze dropping pointedly to where Draven’s hand still hovered near my waist before finally pulling back. “But sometimes it’s the little courtesies that matter.”

The silence stretched, thick and uncomfortable, before Amelia gave a small, graceful nod, turning on her heel as if she hadn’t just caught us in the middle of something that could have burned the entire packhouse down.

“I’ll leave you to it,” she said lightly over her shoulder. “Don’t keep her out too long, Alpha. She’ll need her strength and will for tonight. You know how this wolves can be”

And with that, she vanished down the path, her perfume lingering like poison in the air.

“So,” Colin began after a few minutes of silence, his voice low and easy, almost teasing, “where are you from? And how exactly did you land yourself in between the Lycan brothers?”I blinked at him, caught off guard. “Between them?”He chuckled, kicking a loose pebble along the path. “Oh, don’t look so surprised. You’d have to be blind not to notice it. Every time you walk into a room, one of them is already watching. Draven goes all stiff like he’s holding back a war, Daemon smirks like he’s already won, and Darius—” Colin paused, smiling faintly. “He just looks at you like you’re something he’s still trying to figure out.”My chest tightened at his words, though I managed to keep my voice light. “You’ve been watching me.”He shrugged. “Well Technically I have eyes.”We walked on, the crunch of leaves beneath our feet filling the silence. The night air had turned colder, brushing against my bare arms. To distract myself, I reached into the pocket of my cloak and pulled out an apple I

It was well past midnight when I finally moved. The mansion had gone still no footsteps, no voices, not even the sound of doors creaking. Just the low hum of the wind pushing against the windows. I’d been lying awake for hours, staring at the ceiling, replaying every sound, every look, every touch from earlier. Daemon’s hands. Darius’s fist. My own voice, breaking with need and shame. I wanted to crawl out of my own skin. The moonlight cut through the window, thin and cold, spilling over the room. I sat up, my throat dry, heart pounding. This place had become a trap one I had willingly walked into without realizing. I couldn’t stay here, not another day. I moved quietly, pulling on my cloak and boots. Every sound felt too loud the soft scrape of fabric, the wooden floor groaning beneath my feet. I reached for the small satchel near the chair and stuffed in whatever I could find: a half loaf of bread, a small knife, a water flask. My fingers trembled as I tied the strap. The ha

The sound of splintering wood filled the air before I even turned.Darius’s snarl ripped through the room, low and feral.“What the hell do you think you’re doing?”Daemon straightened, his chest heaving, eyes still wild with heat. The crash came before I could even process what was happening books shattering against the wall, the table jerking under me.“What the hell do you think you’re doing?”Darius’s voice thundered across the room, rough and dangerous. My entire body froze.Daemon stiffened, his hand still gripping the edge of the table. For a heartbeat, no one moved. Then, slow as a storm gathering force, he straightened and turned toward his brother.“Get. Out.” His words were gravel, low and animalistic.Darius took a step forward, his eyes glowing that lethal golden hue. “You’ve lost your damned mind, Daemon.”Rain. My name hovered on both their tongues but neither dared to say it. I tugged my gown up, my fingers trembling, the air so thick it burned my lungs.“She’s mine to

I didn’t see Draven for the rest of the morning. Not that I was looking for him, at least, that’s what I kept telling myself as I paced around my room, still hearing his words echo in my head. Before I forget why I’m supposed to stay away from you. The nerve of him. Acting like I was the problem, like I was some temptation he had to fight off instead of a person with thoughts and choices of her own. My pulse still stung with the memory of it, his nearness, his restraint, the crack in his voice that didn’t sound like the Draven everyone feared. By the time I stepped out into the hall, the house had gone quiet. Most of the warriors were probably out training; the women were busy with their endless routines. I just needed air, space to think without walls pressing in. I turned down a corridor I hadn’t explored before, passing a row of tall windows draped in sheer linen. The sunlight bled softly through, turning the dust in the air into tiny motes of gold. It was almost peaceful, unti

Breakfast the next morning was quieter than usual, though the air still hummed with whispers from last night’s festivities. My body still ached faintly from the sparring, and I could barely tell if it was exhaustion or the constant weight of being watched that made my shoulders tense.Maris sat beside me, pouring tea into our cups, while the other she-wolves exchanged murmured gossip down the table. I was halfway through my bread when Selene’s voice broke through the chatter, sharp and sweet as venom.“Some of us seem to think they can win a Luna’s favor overnight,” she said, smiling faintly as her gaze flicked toward me. “A little dance, a little attention, and suddenly they think they belong at the top of the table.”A few of her friends laughed softly.I kept my eyes on my plate, pretending not to hear her. I’d learned by now that reacting only made things worse.Maris shot her a warning look. “You should be careful, Selene. The walls here have ears.”Selene’s smirk didn’t falter.

The words cracked across the field like a whip.Colin froze, his hand instantly falling away. My head snapped toward the sound, Darius. His tone was calm, but the look in his eyes made the air around us turn colder.Colin stepped back at once, his voice low. “Alpha….I was just—”“If you want to keep your fucking fingers Colin, let her fucking go,” Darius repeated, sharper this time.Silence stretched. No one dared to move. Even Draven’s expression had gone still, unreadable.I frowned, brushing dust from my hands. “What the hell is your problem?”Darius turned that glare on me, dark and blistering. “My problem,” he said slowly, “is that I told you to see the healer, not prance around here playing soldier while men put their hands on you.”The words stung, sharper than they should’ve. My pulse spiked, a mix of embarrassment and anger flooding through me.“I wasn’t prancing,” I shot back. “And no one was putting their hands on me. It’s called training, in case you’ve forgotten.”“Traini
