Malik’s POV

The rain grew heavier hitting against the windows. I stood at the fireplace trying to get a little warmth.

Meanwhile, something didn't exactly feel right to me, my call with Morwenna hung above me.

Eve had retired to her bedroom for the night after suggesting I leave in order to maintain the peace between myself and Morwenna,

“If only she knew.” I thought to myself

She left before I could speak so I just told myself she was tired and probably needed to rest after the whole drama from today. But my wolf stayed restless

I tried ignoring the feeling gnawing at me, throwing another log into the fire. The crackle from the burning log filling the air,

Images of her eyes during the dinner flashed in my mind, the pain and distance in them. The way her body tensed up whenever Dorian spoke. It was everything from a person still nursing an old wound.
