I crept through the forest, my bare feet silently padding over fallen leaves and twigs. I was far enough now that the guards wouldn’t follow me. I walked the familiar path towards the border, tears streamed down my face.

The pack bond thrummed in my mind, a constant reminder of my ties to my packmates, to my father, and to Kim. It used to provide me with a sense of security and belonging, but now it only brought pain and loneliness.
