I wiped her body clean with the towel, then I proceeded to the bedroom. I saw that a new dress was laid on the bed. It had already been picked out for me by the other maid, who didn't join the others in the bathroom. CHAPTER 10: UNUSUAL SPECIAL TREATMENT.Unlike Ravenhill, I woke up in the morning peacefully, not jerking in fright. The night was freezing cold as far as I was concerned. Despite the thick furry blanket I wrapped myself in like a newborn babe, I still felt the intensity of the cold. Sitting up on the queen-size bed, I realized why the cold was that intense: the fire in the fireplace had gone out. The fireplace provided a great deal of warmth, reducing the cold within. Getting up, I wore the dress I had on the previous day which I hung on a chair. As was my morning routine, I walked up to the window and opened it. His breath was visible as he panted with every strenuous step he took on the snowy path.Seeing fewer folks on the streets at such a time of the day was the norm. I had a stoic demeanor as usual as I walked through the hallways, my furry jacket swaying from side to side with every step.
