CHAPTER 8: THE PUNISHMENT

I stared at her intently obviously surprised by her outburst. She was emanating a strange aura, not the gentle and quiet one she was had. I hated the way she looked at me and the disgust in her chocolate brown eyes at a wary frown on her face.

Where’s all this coming from ?

I tried reading her memory but I couldn’t this time and it irked me a lot. I saw pain in her eyes, beneath those alluring thick lashes.

I walked towards her and she growled still maintaining her posture.

“Stay away” and a tear slipped down her smooth cheeks. My heart squeezed really tight.

“Emily”, I called softly surprised at the worry in my voice.

“Don’t!!”, she commanded but my body refused to obey and I walked towards her. I expected her to stab me or do something else but she just looked into my eyes and her gaze softened.

“What’s wrong with you ?”, I said as I cupped her chin trying to keep my emotions still.

“Is that how you talk to your Mayor, Emily ?”, I said as I watched her cheeks burn.
