Chapter Six

“What's wrong?” Elena yelled out.

Tears were full in her eyes, and the whole class was staring at her.

The girl who had tapped her was taken aback. She just wanted to tell her something and had not expected that reaction.

“What?” Elena asked again, eyeing her as a low hiss escaped her lips.

“Don’t bother,” the girl said before walking off.

Elena hissed out again, bowing her head back when she heard the teacher's voice. Why can't she just have a little time to herself before all of them ruin everything? Sniffing to herself, she fumbled for the handkerchief that was tucked inside her skirt, bringing it out to wipe her face before raising her head.

“Fuck!” she muttered to herself as she saw Mrs. Sarah staring directly at her.

“You dont mind standing up, Ms. Elena,” she said, a mischievous smile on her face as she said it.

Elena was not even interested in whatever had to happen in the class today, and without a reply to the teacher, she picked up her books and walked out of the class.

“Take a step further, and I’m failing you in this class.” she heard the teacher say, stopping her from moving another inch. She turned back with a bored look on her face,

“Mrs. Sarah, I’m not feeling too good today. If you want to punish me, I get it, but please shift it to another day,” She said, making a curt nod as she proceeded to walk out again.

“Another step, and that’s minus two from your snap test,” the teacher said, making the whole class gasped.

Elena turned to face her, her eyes wide open in disbelief, and moved to her,

“You have to be kidding.” She said.

“Another two off.”

“What!” she yelled.

“Another two.”

“Everyone should tear a sheet of paper. We’ll be having a snap test.” ms Sarah said, paying her no heed again. She turned to the board, writing the day's topic before looking at Elena, who was brimming with anger.

“Return to your seat, or I'll fail you permanently,” She said, a proud smirk at the edge of her lips.

Elena eyed her, walking to her seat and sitting in defeat. She tore a sheet of paper, writing her name on it; the teacher called her again,

“Elena, you’ll help us write the questions on the board. You don’t mind, right?” She said, making Elena huff out.

“Of course. At least I can help you with something you can’t do.” She muttered to herself.

**************************

It was lunch break, and Elena was seated alone in the cafeteria. Silva was busy in the art room, painting a picture like she does every time she’s angry and on a break with them, and it was clear she didn't want to sit or see Matthew for the main time, probably until the sex thing was cleared. Some tables from her were Jeremy and Freya, the witch, laughing together and showing each other things from their phone. The more she saw them, the more she wanted to stab her straw in her eyeballs. The way Freya laughed pissed her off. How was she so happy, even though she had just arrived at school? Elena remembered when she got here. If not for Matthew, she might never be able to fit in. The more she watched them, the angrier she got, and the more suicidal her thoughts got.

“Hi,” she heard someone say, dispelling her suicidal thoughts immediately.

She looked up from her strawberry drink to see the same girl who had touched her in the class and walked off after yelling at her. Looking close at her now, it was Sarah, one of the gentlest and calmest ladies in the class.

“Hi Sarah,” she replied, taking her eyes off her after.

She watched as Jeremy placed one of the chips Freya was eating into her mouth, making her scoff in annoyance. Why was she acting as if she didn't have the hand to put it in herself? She hated girls like her, who acted so weak in front of guys, and it was just so disgusting.

“Can I sit down here?” She heard Sarah say.

Sighing and turning back to look at her, she rolled her eyes before inching her chair away.

“It’s all yours,” she replied.

“Thanks,” she heard the girl mutter.

Looking at her from the corner of her eyes, she was either trying to make friends or had something to say. If she was for the latter, she was not interested; even for the former, she was also not interested. She was only interested in removing one of the witch’s eyeballs and teaching her a lesson.

“I’m sorry for what happened in the morning. I didn't know you were not in a good mood,” Sarah started.

Elena looked at her, her brows creasing as she bit her burger. She nodded in response, her eyes roaming the cafeteria, searching for someone.

“And Ms. Sarah can sometimes be a bully. You don’t need to take her words to her heart, and I’m sure she can't fail you.”

Elena was starting to feel annoyed. Was Ms. Sarah at fault? How would she have acted in the teacher's shoes if a student disrespected her in front of the class? It was already obvious what she was here to do today, find a friend. Elena swallowed the last bit of her burger, turning to give her all of her attention to blast her off.

“I have something to ask you,” Sarah said, her cheeks turning pink even before she started what she was here to say.

For some reason, this seem to catch Elena’s attention, shoving back the words she was just about to use on her back to her throat as she stared at the pretty girl in front of hr.

“What’s that?” she asked, picking her burger and taking another bite out of it.

Sarah looked at her, a smile blooming on her lips immediately as her cheeks got pinker. She looked away in another direction, one which evena knew too well.

“Tell me, what is it you want to tell me?” she questioned with a playful and daunting smile.

“It’s just that. You have such a good friendship with him. I've seen the way you guys talk and the way he holds you in high esteem, I just..

“Who?” Elena cut her off.

Sarah heaved a deep sigh, looking again in the direction Elena had caught her staring at before,

“I like him Elena. I like Matthew, and I was hoping you could help me become his friend.” She finally said, a sigh escaping her lips as a weight was off her chest.

The thought of it sounded cringe in elena’s ears after she said it, making her pick her bottle as she sipped her drink for a heavy amount of time before turning to face Sarah.

“So where do i come in inall this?” she asked.

“I dont know.. I.. jus…just..” Sarah started, stuttering as she stared at her.

“Probably when youre done stuttering, you can talk normally. I’m not in the mood to listen to any of this if you can’t talk normally.” Elena said, shifting the chair out and proceding to walk out.

“Help me make him my friend. Thats all i ask of you. I dont mind anything.” Sarah hurriedly said.

Elena stopped in her tracks immediately, a thought occurring to her as she turned to look at Sarah,

“Anything?” she repeated as evil sparkled in her eyes.
