Chapter Thirty Three

“Where have you been?” Sarah asked Matthew as he placed his tray beside her, took his seat, and dropped his bag to the floor.

“Went to the restroom.” He replied curtly.

Sarah noticed something was wrong with him, and did not bother to press it again. She started a conversation with one of his friends but her mind was still on whatever was going on with him. It couldn’t be about Elena, they had both sorted that out and decided not to bring it up again. He told her while they were coming to school this morning that he'd like to get to know her more, and it was the best she had ever received in her entire life.

Even thinking about it and replaying his exact words in her brain made a smile bloom on her face. She had liked him since the first year of school, always checking him out, wanting to get closer to him and be his friend. But everytime she tried to get closer to him, she was always there.
