Chapter 2

Lois dialled the number Diana had given her she hoped that someone answered it or did Diana play with her feelings. The call was answered; "Hello, who is this?" Diana said when she answered the call.

"It's me Lois, the lady you gave your card to at the bar the night before." Lois said as looked at the floor, praying that Diana would remember her.

"Oh Lois, dear, how are you doing this morning? Can you come to the breakfast shop downtown? There is something I want to ask you" Diana said, waiting for Lois's reply.

"Hmm, yes I can make it there. I will be there in fifteen minutes." Lois said

"Great, I will be waiting." Diana said as she hung up the call. Lois looked around to find what she could wear.

"Lois?" A voice said from behind, Lois turned around to see Malia standing outside her bedroom, she had just woken up from sleep.

"Hey, my little pony is up. Come here." Lois said as she opened her hands. Malia walked closer and hugged her sister. Lois kissed her forehead.

"I'm going out for now, I need to go do something. So the bad men in suits won't bother you and I ever again." Lois said, holding her sister tight.

"Will there be ponies and princesses later?" Malia asked, looking at Lois with her innocent eyes, Lois giggled and hugged her tighter.

"I promise, there will be lots of ponies and princesses." Lois said as she stood up to get ready to go meet Diana. She looked at Malia, the only thoughts that ran through her head was how she could make her sister happy.

Lois headed to the breakfast shop downtown to meet Diana, on getting there she was surprised to see Diana wasn't alone, she was there with Leo the man who had saved the other night.

"Aahhh, Lois you're here." Diana said when she saw Lois. She made a chance to sit beside them at their table. Lois sat down and she was feeling nervous.

"I want to thank you for your help the other night." Lois said as she lowered her facing Leo, Leo shook his head telling her to lift her head up.

"Don't mention it, that wasn't a way to treat a lady, so I had to intervene." Leo said with a small smile on his face.

Diana tapped the table to get their attention, the two faced her. "Lois dear, I have an offer for you since you told me about what you and your sister have been going through." Diana said, looking at Lois.

"Yes ma'am, I will do anything please. I need a good home and job for me so I can take care of my sister." Lois said at the brink of tears.

"Well, I want you to be my wife." Leo said with a deep and serious voice. This made Lois dumbfounded, she was surprised and shocked at the same time how a total stranger asked her to marry him.

Lois was still shellshocked, Leo went on to explain himself, "I want you to marry me, but it won't be forever you see I need to show that I can handle responsibility. After the documents are signed I will file for a divorce and I will pay you twenty million dollars." Leo said looking at a still dumbfounded Lois who was processing everything Leo said.

"You can move in with your sister and you will be together if that is what worries you." Diana said, holding Lois' hand. Lois was still trying to put everything together when an image of Malia flashed through her head. She looked up and was about to give her response.

"I will do it." Lois said in a low tone, Diana smiled Leo let out a sigh of relief. Diana hugged Lois.

"Thank you Lois, you will be rewarded greatly." Diana said, still hugging her. Lois smiled back she was still surprised and confused but she would do anything to make Malia happy.

"We will get married in court today, then tomorrow my driver will come pick you up." Leo said as he was about to stand. Lois turned to him to say something, Leo stopped to hear what she had to say.

"Can you help me with something?" Lois asked in a low tone, Leo and Diana looked surprised they wondered if she had changed her mind on the wedding.

"Can you help me buy a little pony toy and a Rapunzel doll? I promised Malia I would get her those when I am coming home." Lois said looking at the two who had their hearts in their hands.

"Don't worry, I will get those when I am coming to meet the both of you at the court." Diana said giggling, Leo stood and headed for his car Lois followed him.

"She's quite the opposite of what I expected, she still thinks of her sister. Hmmm I hope her heart doesn't change after entering that house, not with that monster there." Diana said as she looked at Leo and Lois entered the car.

Everything went to plan, Leo and Lois went to the court and they got married. Lois gazed into the eyes of the man that had become her partner. She could see a warm and welcoming soul but still he managed to look emotionless.

They signed the last document, they exchanged rings then they were pronounced husband and wife. When both of them started to leave the courtroom, Lois kept thinking how her life had gone from being miserable and sad to being the wife of a billionaire.

They were standing outside the court, Leo spotted Diana waiting by the car. The newlyweds went closer to meet her. Diana smiled when she saw the newlyweds.

"Congratulations, I'm finally happy that Leo got married to someone even if it is just for a while." Diana said looking at Leo who's face looked stern.

"Lois, my driver will come pick you and your little sister up in the morning, endeavour to be ready. Once again I appreciate you making this sacrifice. I will see to it that nothing happens to you or your sister in the house." Leo said, looking at Lois.

"How can his voice be calm and gentle? His eyes look like an endless sea of stars but his face always looks so stern and cruel. What is this I'm feeling?" Lois said in her thoughts.

Lois nodded in response, Leo waved goodbye as he walked towards his car. "Come on Lois, I will drop you off." Diana said as she put her hands on Lois' shoulder.

Lois got into the car, Diana then zoomed off to drop her. Remember dear tomorrow Leo's driver will come to pick you and Malia up so be ready." Diana said as she smiled as she waved goodbye to Lois.

Lois looked as her car kept moving until it wasn't in her line of sight again. She smiled, "How life works is still a mystery." Lois thought to herself as she entered her apartment.

The following day, Lois had finished packing her belongings and Malia's. She was then waiting for the driver to come pick them. "Lois?" Malia called pulling her sister's shirt gently. Lois turned to see what she wanted.

"Yes, what's wrong?" Lois asked, noticing the look on her sister's face, Malia being a child was confused and didn't understand why her sister was packing.

"Why are you packing? Are the bad men in suits chasing us?" Malia asked, sounding scared, Lois pulled her sister in for a hug assuring her that everything was fine.

"Let's say, a prince is taking us to his palace to live with him, so the bad men won't hurt us anymore." Lois said looking at Malia, Malia's face lit up. She believed every word her sister said and started to help Lois pack.

Lois' phone began to ring, she picked it up.

"Hello Miss Lois I'm here." It was Leo's driver; he was already downstairs waiting for Lois and Malia. Lois grabbed her luggage and with her left hand she took Malia's hand and the sisters left their old house with all the painful memories.

Lois and Malia boarded the car, the driver handed her a letter. It read;

"Lois you reading this means that the driver is already there. When you get to the house, play along with what I say I have been trying to convince my father. But he has been finding it hard to believe me, so please if they ask tell them that we have been together for a long time. So that he will accept you; he is the only one that poses a problem."

                                                     Yours

                                                       Leo.

Lois finished reading the letter, at least Leo had given her a heads up to avoid embarrassment. It only took the driver twenty minutes to reach Leo's family mansion. Lois was dumbfounded, she knew Leo was rich but how rich was he? This was the question going through her head. The butler came to direct her inside. When they opened the door, what they saw made Lois' heart skip a beat.
