I checked my phone for the fifth time to make sure I had not misread the time, as I did for four previous times but the time was the same as it was. Alex was late.

It was quite surprising because Alex was never the type to be late, he always kept to time especially after he promised not to be late. Something felt off, something felt weird I was sure of that. It was so not Alex to be late for anything.

I was supposed to go along with him for the conference but why was he not here?

I picked my phone from the counter and dialed his number but as it rang and no one answered the phone, I was certain that something wasn't right and I was clearly running out of patience.

"Yvonne, you can go home when you're done, I'll be out for a while."

"Yes ma'am." I packed up, leaving the office and walked towards my car but then again I didn't feel the need to actually use my car to find him. I walked towards the road and continued my walk down the path as I knew that he would follow this path. M
