LOGINThis is… crazy.
I could hear my heart pounding right in my ears. I hoped he couldn't hear it, and couldn't hear the rattling of my brain trying to lie.
"Do you really not remember anything?" His deep voice broke the silence.
I looked up at him.
Morning light spilled across his face, catching on that sharp jawline, turning him into something unreal, like a statue carved from ice and bad decisions.
I gulped, trying to keep my heartbeat steady. Don’t mess this up.
“I… I woke up in a rotten shack,” I said, forcing the words out slowly. “I didn’t know the people there. It's just... they treated me badly.”
Yes, that part wasn't a lie. I remembered every second of the pain. How Ella and the pack members laughed when they were pelting me with gravel. I also remembered how Victor easily broke my finger.
But in front of this man with a collection of silver rifles on his wall, the truth was a death sentence.
Silence followed for too long. His gaze didn’t soften. If anything, it sharpened, like he was waiting for something, for me to slip, maybe?
My fingers curled into the sheets. Did he notice? The hesitation? The way I chose my words too carefully?
I pressed a hand to my head, fingers tangling in my hair, like I was trying to hold myself together. My eyes flicked back to him, and I froze.
Why was he looking at me like that?
Was he not buying my lie?
"I... I have to go," I muttered.
Yeah, I needed to scram before he grew suspicious of me, or worse, my true form was revealed. I had to go, now!
However, the moment my feet touched the floor, my world spun. Pain slammed into my chest with sharp and crushing force, like something invisible had decided my lungs were optional, and I collapsed.
Ugh.
Instinct took over me in an instant, and my hand flew to my neck. But… there was nothing there.
"Huh?" My fingers brushed bare skin.
No collar.
My pulse spiked. No, no, there was no way. Was this man the one who...
The man stepped closer, squatting right in front of me. "Only a monster would put something that disgusting around a human neck."
His long, rough fingers lifted my chin, forcing me to look into his hypnotic dark eyes.
"I took it off when I first brought you here," the man said. “Can you breathe easier now?”
Easier, you ask?
His thumb brushed the scar on my neck. His touch was cold, very cold, sending a strange stinging sensation.
I flinched.
Heat spread through my chest, sudden and traitorous, clashing violently against the instinct screaming at me to pull away. But this man, this human, was the enemy. So why did my body hesitate?
My breath hitched.
No... it doesn't get easier to breathe.
"Well, too bad, though, you can’t go yet,”
My heart sank. Was he suspicious? Did he know I wasn’t human?
“Why?” I asked, my voice a little too high. “I’m better now. I don’t want to bother you.”
“Is this what you call better?” The man frowned, then let out a dry snort. “More than that, I need you as a living witness to the depravity of those hairy monsters. I want to ask you a few things about them.”
“B-but I—”
When his eyes met mine at this close range, it felt like something was squeezing me inside. He was a human, wasn’t he? But why did his gaze… remind me of an Alpha of my kind?
“Besides, didn’t you say you lost your memory?” He tilted his head. “If you leave now, do you know where to go?”
"Ah." My eyes blinked rapidly. “That’s right… where should I go?”
“Stay,” he said. “At least until we figure out who you are.”
My brows pulled together. “Who I am?”
He held my gaze, unblinking. “You said you don’t remember, didn’t you?”
“…Right.”
Damn it. If he started digging deeper, this could go very wrong.
His eyes lingered on me a second longer, then slowly dropped.
I followed his gaze, and heat rushed to my face as his eyes landed right on my chest so casually.
I was wearing only an oversized striped shirt, with the top button undone! And underneath… nothing. No bra, no underwear. Just my skin in direct contact with the thin fabric.
I hugged myself immediately, glaring at him. “Don’t tell me, you’re the one who took off my clothes too?”
He just shrugged. “Who else?”
My stomach tightened.
I looked away, jaw clenching. "I... I need decent clothes. And… ahem, underwear,"
“I don’t have those.”
“You’re joking.”
He didn’t answer. Just opened a drawer and tossed something at me, and I caught it. A… black boxer, huge ones I was sure both of my legs would fit through one hole.
I stared at them, then at him. “This is your solution?”
“It’s that or nothing.”
His tone didn’t change. That was the problem. Like this, crouching here, exposed, and vulnerable, meant nothing to him at all. My grip tightened around the fabric.
Fine. Better than nothing.
“Good,” he said. "Now, go back to sleep.”
“I didn’t agree to—”
I didn’t finish when he already moved too fast. One second, I was upright, and next, I was in his arms.
My breath caught. Not just from the sudden movement, but from how easily he lifted me. Like I weighed nothing. Like I was nothing.
My hand instinctively pressed against his solid, unyielding chest. And for a split second, I forgot to push him away.
That was the most terrifying part.
His thick arms wrapped around my waist and under my knees, sending a kind of electric shock that made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. As he lay me back down on the pillow, our faces were mere inches apart.
His warm, sandalwood-scented breath brushed against my face. Our gazes locked. For a moment, I forgot he was the man who slaughtered my people.
"Stay here. I'll prepare some food," he said, without breaking eye contact.
As he turned around, I grabbed his sleeve.
He stilled. Slowly, he looked back at me. "What is it?"
If he really hated werewolves… then I would risk using him.
“Help me kill them.”
Where exactly did everything go wrong?Their stomachs growled, aching with hunger. By the fifth day, their feet dragged through the dust. Ella no longer had the strength left to lash out or blame the world. She collapsed onto the parched earth, leaning against a piece of wooden debris; her lips were cracked and bleeding."This is all your fault!"Edmund’s wrinkled hand shot out, grabbing a rough, violent fistful of Ella’s hair. His daughter shrieked. Her eyes widened, filled with a look of horrified disbelief. She never imagined that the father who had pampered her her entire life, treating her as if she were perched upon a pedestal of silk, could ever act with such brutality and rage. Tears welled up in her reddened eyes, yet her words remained as sharp as a rusted blade."How could you treat your own daughter like this?! This is all your fault, Dad! If you hadn't insisted on being so 'loyal' by asking to attend the funeral of that dead former Alpha, she never would have sent us to t
She rattled the bars with both hands, screaming hysterically and demanding that I let her out. Even as Ronan and I walked further away down the concrete basement corridor, Ella’s vile curses still echoed clearly behind us.And even when Ronan reached from behind and gently covered my ears with his warm palms to shield me from the noise, I could still hear her shrieks perfectly well, thanks to my heightened hearing. But I simply smiled, resting my head against Ronan’s chest as we stepped into the elevator. Today, I officially closed the chapter on my past with them. The next morning, I stood before the mirror once again, preparing to face the outside world and the public for the first time since the chaos had subsided. I opted for a sharp, tailored look: high-waisted, deep navy blue trousers paired with a structured blazer that hugged my waist perfectly. It was simple, elegant, and exuded pure authority.Last night, when I called Alpha Giorgio to let him know I was finally willing to
Ronan narrowed his dark eyes, as if questioning whether I had lost my mind. Then, his hand resting on my waist pulled me closer, until our hips were pressed together with no space left between us.“Only if I stick to you like a postage stamp, Wife,” he whispered, his lips hovering just inches from mine, his rough thumb brushing against my lower lip. “I won’t let the negative energy of those people ruin your bright morning.”I let out a soft laugh and planted a quick kiss on his lips. “Deal.”If you head down one floor from the grand lobby of Bachnault Tower, past the row of VIP elevators and the garage housing my husband’s collection of exotic cars, you’ll find a secluded, isolated room tucked away at the very end of the basement parking level. That is where I’ve placed the remnants of my family, under house arrest.Ronan personally oversaw the modifications to the space, installing thick, silver-core iron bars around the main entrance. Even so, the unit itself is not all that differe
I hissed in surprise as a sharp sensation pierced my skin.“What is it?!” Ronan was instantly on alert, his eyes narrowing.“No, it’s just… his bite is so sharp,” I said, wincing as I steadied Aaron’s head to keep him from pulling too hard. “When he eventually shifts into a human baby, will his teeth still be this sharp?”It had been over a week since Aaron in his wolf-pup form, yet there was still no sign that he would shift back into his human self. I found it increasingly difficult to hide my concern, so that very afternoon, Ronan made a call and brought the midwife back to the penthouse to see us again. “Rest easy, Alpha Alice. He will certainly return to his human form, though this transition is admittedly taking quite a long time,” the elderly midwife said, offering reassurance as she checked little Aaron’s heartbeat with a stethoscope. “But trust me, I’ve seen cases where a mixed-blood pup remained in its pup form for two full weeks, only to eventually shift back into a healt
Somehow, hearing a soft moan escape his lips and feeling his large frame wriggling beneath me, radiating an intoxicating, searing heat, made me feel as though I held the entire world in the palm of my hand. Do I actually have a dominant streak, then?I lifted my head, taking a deep breath as I pulled my lips away from his lower. “Babe, we—”Huh? Babe?Great. Ronan had fallen asleep. His gentle snores drifted out in a steady, rhythmic cadence. His face, usually so rigid and calculating, now looked completely relaxed and at peace, as if he’d just won the lottery for world tranquility. And yet, when my eyes darted down to his manhood, still trapped beneath me, it was clear that things down there were anything but peaceful.I let out a snort, biting my lower lip hard to keep from bursting into laughter in the middle of the night. How could his face look as serene as a sleeping angel, while his lower half remained as taut and rigid as steel? Goodness, Mr. Bachnault, what am I supposed to
He flinched slightly, likely due to the stark contrast between the oil’s cold sensation and his own rising body temperature, before I began to firmly massage the area around his collarbone. I focused my hands, applying precise, firm pressure, and traced the rigid contours of his chest muscles, muscles that had grown taut from a full week of physical and mental strain spent dealing with those political rats.“This scent… it’s as if I’m bathed in you, babe,” he whispered, his voice husky, his eyes closed as he surrendered to my touch.I smiled, satisfied. That, of course, was an olfactory illusion I had intentionally crafted from the start. I had infused every pore of his skin with my own scent.I then shifted my focus, moving my hands down from his collarbone toward the center of his chest. My fingers maneuvered, deliberately teasing his peak with small, circular motions of my thumbs, alternating between firm pressure and release. As my hands worked the upper part of his torso, I ensu
Shit.I tried to move, but my body barely responded. Something heavy pinned me in place. It was wrapped tightly around my waist. A strong arm, hot, solid, and unyielding. It made me wonder, was it really an arm?My back pressed against something firm, and I knew it wasn’t a wall. Then I heard it, a
As the guards grabbed my legs to drag my limp body, the Alpha stepped into the centre of the ground, his voice cutting through the noise."To welcome my daughter-in-law, Ella, into the family, I have brought a special gift for her," he announced delightedly. "The Hunter has been captured! Now you c
"What have you done to your own sister, Alice?!" Father's roar was thunderous.“Father, that's not…”Before I could blink, a heavy blow struck my head. I staggered, my vision swam, and I collapsed onto the dirt. The only one who met my gaze at that time was Victor, but he… he was still hugging Ella
On the night that was meant to mark our bond, my mate forced me to kneel and beg forgiveness from my older sister, Ella."Ella has suffered enough because of you, Alice."I lifted my head slowly.Victor, the future Alpha, stood before me. Tall, composed, and perfect. The man who used to look at me
