I was relieved that the next night remained undisturbed by his presence in my room. The decision to barricade myself had been made, and I intended to stick to it. I glanced over at the wall clock, surprised it was already as late as 11 PM, I closed the book in my hand and dropped it on the table.

Sensing the coolness of the night, I closed the window tightly, shutting out the outside world. A sudden surge of determination washed over me as I made my way to the bathroom, splashing cold water on my face, each droplet awakening my senses.
