After running a high fever in the middle of the night, Amelia woke at around five o’clock in the morning. She looked at the unfamiliar ceiling after waking up, thinking about everything that had transpired, and she laughed out in self-mockery.

She really was pitiful, wasn’t she? Although she had parents, she was no different from an orphan. she could only depend on herself from now onwards.

Amelia closed her eyes again, feeling sorry for herself. Why did God allow her to be in this world? Just so she could suffer at the hands of the so-called family. She was tired of pitying herself but she did not dare to stand up again.

Every time she thought she had a hold of something, it would be mercilessly taken away from her. She was not even given the chance to fight back.

Axel woke up with a start. He was only taking a nap and was not in deep sleep. He walked over to the hospital bed to check on Amelia. He was startled when he saw that she was already awake.
