Chapter 8

“I want to keep you. This is my entire fortune right here, and of course, I’ll keep working hard to earn more in the future.”

Li Tingxiao’s gaze was extremely sincere, especially when he spoke about keeping her. It made the root of Su Jianxi’s ears burn slightly.

She thought this man was just paying her lip service. To think that he really meant it…

“Our relationship is limited to that single night, and I don’t intend on being someone else’s freeloader.” Su Jianxi planned to leave as soon as she made that clear.

However, Li Tingxiao was one step faster than her, standing in Su Jianxi’s way.

He even pinned Su Jianxi to the wall.

His actions ticked Su Jianxi off.

To her surprise, though, Li Tingxiao stuffed the card into Su Jianxi’s hands and said with a tone of absolute certainty, “If you dare to reject me again, I don’t mind making it a two-night stand starting right now.”

Su Jianxi, “...”

Li Tingxiao saw how Su Jianxi was clearly stunned, and he planted a kiss on her forehead. “I’m busy now, so I’ll come look for you later.”

The man strode away as soon as he said that. Speechless, Su Jianxi looked at the card in her hand and then at Li Tingxiao’s back as he left.

She kept the card in her wallet, just in time to receive Shen Siming’s call.

“Jianxi, hurry up and drop by the company for a bit.”

Shen Siming gave her his orders and hung up with a clatter, without even giving Su Jianxi a chance to speak.

Although Su Jianxi could guess why Shen Siming asked her to go to Heaven’s Entertainment, she was still playing with them from the shadows here, so she had to keep acting as though she had no idea what was happening. That way, she could turn the tables on them.

If she failed now, she would end up with nothing.

On the other hand, those b*stards Shen Siming and Su Huanran would grow even more fearless. They would even strip her of her inheritance as the first miss of the Su Family.

After a drive of over twenty minutes, Su Jianxi arrived at Heaven’s Entertainment.

She had no sooner walked up to Shen Siming’s office door when she heard Su Huanran’s wailing and Shen Siming’s angry yells.

“You can’t even do that right? Why’d I hire you pieces of trash, then?”

Shen Siming looked like a gentleman, but he had an impatient heart that held no respect for others.

His subordinates received a brutal verbal thrashing from their boss, and Shen Siming only reigned his furious expression when Su Jianxi pushed the door open. “Get the hell out of here, all of you.”

“What’s the matter?” Su Jianxi asked the raging Shen Siming perplexedly. “Who made you so mad?”

Shen Siming said in a huff, “See for yourself.”

With that, he gave Su Jianxi his phone.

Su Jianxi looked at the report on the phone, describing how Su Huanran had used a double today, and immediately understood.

She had not expected Sis Kimi to be so quick about it, and the latter had even gotten this incident trending. Inwardly, Su Jianxi gave her a huge thumbs-up.

“How did things get this bad? Who on earth hurt Huanran like this?” Su Jianxi’s expression looked unbelievably mad, as though she was even angrier than she would be if she was the one on the receiving end of this exposé.

Shen Siming and Su Huanran had banded together to trick Su Jianxi for a very long time, and both of them knew how stupid this Su Jianxi woman was.

She was an indisputable expert at unwittingly helping those who had harmed her.

That was why they were not at all surprised to see how angry Su Jianxi looked.

What they did not know was that Su Jianxi, the woman they had thought was made to be taken advantage of, was the mastermind behind this entire crisis today.

“If only I knew.” Shen Siming gritted his teeth at the mention of the video uploader. “Jianxi, the incident today happened because you accidentally exposed yourself somehow, right? The company has set up a crisis management plan. Later, you go ahead and tell those reporters that you were the one who suddenly wanted to act, so you begged Huanran as her good friend to let you try. Say that Huanran could not bear to turn you down, so she humored your request.”

When she arrived here, Su Jianxi had already guessed that Shen Siming would ask her to take the blame in Su Huanran’s place.

Even so, when he actually said such cruel words, Su Jianxi still felt as though her heart had been torn out of her chest.

If she did take the blame, she would be the target of public ire, whereas Su Huanran would come off as an ally of justice who would sacrifice everything for her friend.

This was the man she had loved for the three years, the man she willingly gave up everything for.

Her eyes must have been blinded by crap.

“Siming, why am I always taking the blame for Huanran’s mistakes? She’s just an artiste under your label. Is she more important than me, your soon-to-be wife? Or… was Huanran always more important than me?”

Su Jianxi’s eyes filled with tears, her fury turning to sorrow. Right now, she had long since lost track of reality. Was she just acting, or was she really on the verge of tears.

“Huanran is Heaven’s Entertainment’s lead talent. Any stain on her reputation would be extremely detrimental to Heaven’s Entertainment. Jianxi, you’re no longer in showbiz, so what’s wrong with taking the blame for your friend? It won’t affect you that much anyway.”
