07 : Who does she think she is?

Mr Harper did not say a word about it for the next two days and Olivia was glad that he didn't try to convince her. He only informs her that they have a new project and she gladly accepts to do it since Maynard nor his industry wasn't involved.

".... He's a new actor who just got signed by the industry, can you work with him?"

"Of course. As long as he's good at what he does, then we can make a great team..." Mr Harper nods and Olivia speaks further. "When do we start and when do I meet this new actor?"

"Since it's Friday, then I suggest we rest over the weekend and prepare our minds and we begin the following week"

Olivia was pretty excited.. "Sure, that's great"

"I'll send a copy of the script to you shortly. However, do you know what other thing I think you should be teams with?"

Olivia frowns, confused and trying to understand what he means.. "..And what is that?"

Mr Harper sighs before saying... "Your partnership with Maynard's industry"

Her frown deepens because she least expects this from him or the fact that he'd bring it up again.

"I thought we have gone past this already Mr Harper? Why are you bringing it up again?"

"He's not giving up Olivia. He sent a different contract with the income doubled.."

"My decision is final Mr Harper.. Turn down the letter and do not bring this to my table again. The industry doesn't need a contract from Maynard"

Mr Harper didn't argue further but was obviously not pleased with the whole situation.

Why the heck would Maynard send a second letter even when she nullified the first one. He even has the nerve to double the money. Why is he so hell bent on working with her?

"Dammit" Maynard curses loudly as he flung the letter back on his table. He turns around and brushes his fingers through his hair, the turns back to his secretary who was visibly shaking.

"What did you do uh? What did you do to make them nullify the contract?" He snaps.

The secretary moves back a bit and as he tries to speak, he kept stuttering but musters up the courage to speak.

"I.. I.. I did everything you asked sir.. I doubled the income like you asked"

"Then you should have tripled it. Do you know how important this is to me?..." He pauses for a while, inhaled deeply, then said.. "Leave.. just leave"

The secretary scurries out of the office. Maynard stares at the letter and groans inwardly.

This is really weird. No industry has ever refused a partnership deal from his industry. He was taking aback when they declined the letter the first and he asked his secretary to double the income, thinking it would entice them. Surprisingly, it got nullified again and it annoys him more that the actress has refused to do a movie with him.

He's not going to give up that easily. He'd make sure to find out her identity and get a movie done with her.. That's for sure.

He grabs his coat and briefcase and heads out of his office to the parking lot. Henry quickly gets the door for him and he slide in.

He release his tie and leans back on the seat, feeling exhausted.

"Should I pull over at your usual restaurant so you can grab something to eat sir?" Henry asked, staring at him through the mirror.

"No! Just order some takeout when we get home"

Henry nods and focuses back on the road but it didn't take long before Maynard speaks up again.

"I need you to do something for me Henry!!"

"What is it sir?"

"The new actress, I need you to find out everything about her. I don't know how you'd do it but gather information about her I need to see pictures where her face is shown. You can take your time"

Henry nods... "I'll do just that Sir"

Reaching home, Maynard makes his way up to his room and finds it empty. There's no sign of Vernes anywhere. It's not new to him anymore since she does this all the time.

He takes out his phone and calls Vernes... She picks up and just as he expected, he hears loud booming music's and he needs no soothsayer to tell him that she's at a club.

"Vernes, come back home right this instant" He says with a huge frown on his face.

He could not hear a word from what she's saying over the phone but before he knew it, she hangs up.

"Vernes.!!!"

He calls her again and it rings till the end without her picking up. Maynard throws his phone to the bed and groans in frustration. He's so annoyed right now and Vernes only just added to it.

Stripping himself off his clothes, he walks to the bathroom and did a nice warm bath, then steps out in just his robe.

He moves to his wardrobe and began to rampage through it when a box falls to the floor and a photo frame falls out.

Picking up the box and the frame, he sat on the sofa, close by. It was a photo frame of his wedding with Olivia.

It's been ages since he saw this, and it brought back memories of them together.

Feeling the emptiness in his room, he suddenly feels extremely lonely and at this point, only one thing lingers in his mind.. Olivia.

To him, his marriage to Olivia were on the basis of him getting over his broken relationship with Vernes. Then, his breakup with Vernes had left him broken but Olivia was there to fix him.

He wasn't completely in love with her but still made her his just to make a point to Vernes that he was completely over her.

His marriage with Olivia had barely started with Vernes showed up and got him hooked. He never for once cared about Olivia's feeling. It was just all about himself.

He would not turn a blind eye to those times Olivia would see him cheat and still not say a word. She's literally the best woman he has ever come across. She was willing to still stand by him and not let him go.

He knew he prompted the divorce. Olivia would never think of divorcing him if he hadn't asked her to make dinner for Vernes and threatened her with a divorce that day.

He has his flaws too. The least he could have done was to be a better husband to her. Everything was his fault and since then, she disappeared into thin air.

But the nerve of her to file a divorce with him. Why did she give up? Who the hell does she think she is uh?

Thinking about it now, it made him furious to think that she actually left him. Why didn't she continue to endure his infidelity? She should have waited a bit longer.

He was going to divorce her soon anyways but she acted quickly by sending him a divorce paper instead.

He continues to stare at the photo and the ring Olivia had left and didn't realize that it's almost midnight. He snaps out of his thoughts when Vernes drove into the building.

He placed the box back into his wardrobe and made his way downstairs, ready to give Vernes some scoldings but he was taken aback to see her walking in with a man, whose arms were wrapped around her waist as they flirted with each other.

He balls his fists together.. How dare her bring another man to his home? First she went clubbing and now, she's with a man? in his very own home?.

"Vernes!!" He thundered. She looks at him, still flirting with the man.

"Who is he? And how dare you bring a man to my home?" He added, glaring at both the drunk Vernes and the man.

"What? Can't I bring whoever I want over? He's my guest and you have to let us use the guest room, it's pretty urgent"

Vernes began to slowly lead the man towards the stairs, less bothered about Maynard's presence.

Maynard couldn't take it anymore. She's beginning to frustrate him more. This was exactly the reason for their breakup in the past. She returned, claiming to be a changed person.

"Henry!!!" He forcefully pulled Vernes from the man and Henry came running in. "Get this man out of my house and call the cops if he tries to make any trouble"

With a nod, Henry dragged the man out. Maynard turns to Vernes and shoots her and angry look.

"You had the nerve to fúcking being a man to my home? What? You planned on cheating right in my presence?"

Vernes pulls her hand from his grip and glared at him.

"Why are you staring at me with that look in your eyes? Look at kettle calling pot black. Did you forget you were once a cheat? Yeah, you cheated of Olivia countless times... with me? Don't label me a cheat when you're one yourself."

She hissed loudly and walked away, leaving Maynard in shock.! Her words had hit him like bomb.

It was the truth.. A bitter truth she never should have said.
