Chapter 8 Wrong Feeling

The first day Susan moved into the royal manor, she was very excited. She took a bath early and changed into new pajamas, waiting for Lewis to come back.

She waited for a very long time and was almost falling asleep when finally, she heard some noise.

Just as Susan was about to enter the bedroom, she heard a familiar voice: "Mia (family maid), please take care of the president. We'll be heading off."

  That was Judy's voice.

Susan had lived with Judy for over twenty years and knew her voice well.

Why would Judy be in Lewis's room?

Susan quickly remembered that Judy was Lewis's secretary, so her presence at the royal manor was perfectly normal.

Hearing that Judy was about to leave, Susan quickly hid in the adjacent room and waited until the footsteps descending the stairs faded away before she emerged and headed to Lewis's master bedroom.

"Mia, let me take care of Mr. Lewis. You're getting on in years and shouldn't overexert yourself this late at night."

Mia was in her fifties and had been a maid in the president's household for over twenty years, assigned by Lewis's father to take care of Lewis at the royal manor.

Mia glanced at Susan and, recognizing the situation, said warmly with a smile, "Then I'll leave it to Miss Lin. Please take care."

As soon as Mia left, Susan locked the door from the inside and then approached the bed to softly call out, "Lewis?"

The drunken Lewis showed no response.

Susan was slightly annoyed since it wasn't her who had been with Lewis that night. She didn't want to be kicked out of here when the truth came out; she needed to quickly build a relationship and a real "man-woman" connection with Lewis—that was the key.

Seeing no reaction from Lewis, Susan decided to take action. Even if he was drunk, a man would have physiological responses.

However, just as Susan was getting closer and about to reach out, Lewis suddenly opened his eyes, looking distressed, and pushed her away with force.

  "Get out."

With a harsh shout, Lewis frightened Susan, causing her to fall to the ground, turning pale: "Le, Lewis."

Hearing her voice, a bit of rationality returned to Lewis's fiery gaze as he glanced at Susan, "Why are you here? Oh right, I almost forgot, Leo brought you over today."

Susan stood up, looking very aggrieved and frightened: "Lewis, I saw you were drunk, and I wanted to help you change your clothes."

"Don't come any closer," Lewis said, furrowing his brow. "Is that the smell of lilies on you?"

"Uh-huh, I used lily-scented shower gel. What's the matter, Lewis?"

The former Susan smelled of mint.

Tonight, Susan didn't use those cheap shower gels. During the day, she specially took the housekeeper shopping at the mall for expensive lily-scented shower gel.

The scent of mint made Susan feel cheap, a constant reminder of her lower-class background.

To gain Lewis's affection, she even specially styled her hair, getting big waves and changing the color to chestnut. Even her scent had changed, and she lost all traces of the woman from that night.

If not for the resume proving that Susan was the woman from that night, Lewis would start to doubt whether it was really her.

The current attitude of Lewis was intimidating. Susan didn't dare to make a sound, meekly apologizing, "I know, I'm sorry."

Susan's timidness made Lewis frown. He couldn't help but think of Judy, a woman who seemed docile and respectful but wasn't repulsive.

Judy's meekness and obedient was just an appearance; she was clever at heart. Susan, on the other hand, was meek to the bone.

Once Susan had left, Lewis pinched the bridge of his nose and lay back down. Maybe it was too stuffy in the room, or perhaps it was the alcohol, but he felt irrationally irritated. Images from that night began to invade his mind once again.

Blurry, vague, delightful, wild—the girl's pleas and panting...
