~ Chapter 44 ~
Amanda slid down the wall with her head cradled to her hand until she felt the coldness of the floor against her butt. She stayed like that for a while before she started chuckling, everyone in the hospital room turned to her in surprise.
Another chuckle escaped her lips then another before it slowly turned into a sob. Malia immediately rushed to her and hugged her, but that did nothing to comfort her. She felt her world crashing down before her as cried on Malia's shoulders "why? Why?! Just why!?" She yelled amidst her sobs, and Malia just tightened her grip on her.
Alan stared at her with pity in his eyes, he just couldn't seem to recall anything about her. His mind felt oddly blank when it comes to her, the nurse looked at the scenario and mouthed "I'll go get the doctor" to Alan before she quietly excused herself from the room.
Malia and Amanda still sat on the floor in each other's arms when Amanda suddenly broke out of Malia's arms and rushed to Alan's bed

Andrew stood beside Amanda, and they both stared wordlessly at the park that was filled with mostly children and their parents. Amanda pushed her door open and exhaled loudly at the bone-chilling silence, she looked around the room with sadness as she remembered what it felt like to have Jonathan around. He would probably be playing games now or watching his favorite anime till she drags him up to bed. Alan was chatting and laughing happily with the squad; Adilah, Malia, and Mark, when the door crept open to reveal Amanda, who suddenly felt awkward when all eyes turned to her. She smiled awkwardly at them before moving further into the room, "Hi guys, just got off work and decided to come visit him" she explained in a calm voice and everyone including Alan, smiled at her. Sadness and a gut-wrenching silence loomed over the hospital room where Jonathan's dead body laid, over 3 pairs of pain-filled eyes watched the nurses intensely as they removed all the tubes attached to his body and covered him up with the piece of white cloth that Amanda threw off him a while ago. Amanda laid on the bed, surrounded by darkness courtesy of the curtains that haven't been opened in a week, she was trying to force herself back to sleep like she has been doing the past week when a loud knock came on the door.
