We Need To Talk. Sara Hewitt. The drive to Elijah's house was really long, and he knew that much. Still, it seemed like he didn't care. "What took you so long? I've been waiting for you for over an hour!" His brown hair partly covered his face, hiding his pupils that had two different colours. Elijah was handsome, but he wasn't my type. I was only with him to get closer to Sage, but he didn't know that. "You know how late night traffic in my area is, babe." I let out the most feminine mewl sound as I yawned and stalked towards him. "I'm so tired, I need a hug." I cooed. Elijah was easy to read. Acting like a baby was enough to have him soften up to me. It was enough to get him to feel like a powerful alpha male protector. I did everything to massage his ego, which worked perfectly for me. It didn't matter that I felt disgusted or anything. At least, we had never had sex. That was the one thing that still kept him with me. I was a virgin, and not like other girls. I mused to myself. If only he knew that I wanted his best friend to take my virginity, he wouldn't be so nice to me. "I'm sorry. It's just..." He paused and engulfed me in his arms. "School was stressful, and I missed you." He kissed the top of my forehead. Images flashed instantly. The earlier picture. Sage was doing the same to Lyla. I balled my fists tightly. "Hey, are you okay?" Elijah seemed to know I was distressed. "I'm quite fine. What about the party? Are we not going again?" I asked, looking around. "Nope." He popped the 'p'. "I decided we could just stay in... N*****x and chill, you know. Hang out like we used to. I barely get to see you in school these days with your busy schedule." It was time for me to act. I peered into his eyes, looking like I was enamoured by his words. I clasped my hands together in excitement. "Oh babe, you're so sweet." I told him, the fake tears slipped from the corners of my eyes. He scratched the back of his head sheepishly with a smile on his face. "C'mon, it's not that deep." But the blush on his cheeks said otherwise. "Fine." I smiled. "What are we watching?" I began peeling my coat off my body, and from the corner of my eyes, I saw as he watched me hungrily. I was wearing the tiniest short that exposed my long beautiful legs, and a crop top that exposed my really flat tummy and beautiful waistline. Yes, I knew I was really beautiful and blessed with an hourglass figure. This was the more reason I wanted Sage to have me. Something fresh and untouched for someone like him, well... until that woman came along. Deep into the movie we were seeing, I decided to play around with the evidence I just got from Don. "Hey babe." I said softly. Elijah's head quickly snapped towards me. He was really attentive to my needs. "Uh?" He responded, his eyes roaming my body before settling on my face. "What do you think about the new teacher? Lyla Atelo?" I started by testing the waters. He scoffed and faced the television once more. "I don't think anything about her. She's not worth sparing a thought for." Well, your best friend would beg to differ! I said it in my mind. "Oh really? What about your friend, Sage? What does he think about her. I heard he stayed all afternoon and evening with her in the nurses' office." I edged the conversation further, and this was what got his attention. I held my breath for a few seconds, anticipating his response. "What Sage thinks of her?" He seemed to be in deep thoughts. "I honestly can't say. Sage is really hard to read... Well, unless he wants you to read him." He shrugged and his eyes went back to the movie. I started by slowly taking out my phone. "Do you think he likes her?" I probed further, and I got the reaction I needed. He sparked. He got angry. "Why would you think that? Sage isn't that stupid, neither will he get so low with a woman like that. He could have any woman he wants, and trust me when I tell you this, Sage will choose better than her." He raised his voice. "By the way, what is your obsession with him? It's getting annoying already. This movie was for both of us to watch, and you're ruining it by bringing up that woman and Sage." I launched into my second act. The tears. It always worked wonders. The tears started dripping from my eyes and I sniffed, trying to clean the ones on my cheeks. "Why are you saying such a thing?" I pulled the video out and pushed my phone towards him. "I was on my own when someone anonymously sent this video to my phone. Even this phone recording. Happening between Sage and Mrs. Lyla. I just wanted to know if you knew about it already. Why would you say I'm obsessed with him when I'm looking out for your best interest. If this is a lie, wouldn't it do you good to tell Sage about this? He would punish the person for spreading false rumors about him." Elijah's pupils constricted as he watched the video. His expression kept getting darker and darker as he listened to the doctored phone conversation I had with Don. Of course, I changed my voice and the name Don kept calling me. This way, no one would know I was involved. When it got to the part of 'hearing sounds', Elijah made a weird noise at the back of his throat. "Delete it. Everything." He said darkly and got off his king-sized bed. "Whoever made that video and recorded that conversation, I want to know their names." He went towards his closet and pulled out his hoodie. "Make sure that video doesn't reach anybody." "Where are you going?" I pretended to be alarmed. Of course I knew he was going to Sage's house. That was my only chance to hear his voice again. I jumped out of bed and leaned into him, giving him a hug. He stilled for a few seconds, but one thing was that he hadn't noticed that I had slipped a recording device in his pocket. It was a pen, so it wouldn't raise any suspicion if he saw it. "I'm going to find Sage." He snatched his car keys from the ottoman and bent low to kiss my forehead. "I'll be back. Just stay here and wait for me." Just as he drove off, a message pinged on my phone. It was from the principal who I sent the video to. Of course, my mother didn't know it was me. "We need to talk." The message read.Chapter 50The Twist.Lyla Atelo.“I'm not…”“…wealthy enough to purchase this? Of course I know that. Sage gifted this to you, right?” Her eyes were beaming in joy. She didn't look disgusted at all about anything.“What other things did he get for you?” She peered into the box that sat in front of us, trying to rummage through it.“You know I can't accept this, right?” Right now, I needed her support for me to turn down these gifts. It was too much. I couldn't handle something this big.“Why not?” Ivy paused and lifted her head to stare at me with a frown.“It's not right, and you know that.” I tried to stress out, but Ivy didn't seem to be following. “He is… you know, he's my student. I'm his teacher. This kind of thing isn't supposed to be going on between us.”Ivy's eyebrows rose further up and she rolled her eyes. “Take it as a simple gift from a student.”“Simple? You call this simple?” I pointed to the document that still lay on the table. “It's a freaking Jewellery store. Not
Chapter 49A Brand New Owner.Lyla Atelo.Sage wasn't in school for the rest of the week, and today was Friday. I had texted him over and over again, but he never responded. I was tempted to go over to his house, but I didn't want a repeat of the last time.I was currently sitting in my office when the door was forcefully pushed open, and my least favourite person walked into the office.“Hello, Sara.” I folded my hands on my table and sat up to face her squarely. She gave me a once-over before taking in my office as if she had never been here before.“Will Sage be coming for Camp?” She asked outrightly.“Excuse me?”“You heard me right. Or are you dumb?”I choose to ignore her choice of words. “I heard you loud and clear, but what I don't understand is why you're asking me.”“Aren't you the one he's fucking?” She said calmly, not at all fazed by the vulgarity of what she was saying.“If you were remanded in court and asked to prove those allegations, would you be able to?”“Don't you
Chapter 48Naughty Little Slut.Lyla Atelo.I woke up the next morning feeling refreshed and optimistic for some unknown reason. I turned to my side, watching Michael sleep peacefully beside me. I rolled my eyes and began to prepare for school.“You're quite late today. That's so unlike you.” Dominic, one of my male colleagues, pointed out as we walked side by side down the corridor.I shrugged. “I slept late, and I woke up late.”His mouth curved into a small smile, “Your husband kept you up all night, aye?” He teased slightly, and it took all of me not wince at his words.I forced a smile on my face with a little ‘heh heh’ to avoid the question. “So, are you prepared for the camping experience?”He understood my discomfort and immediately changed the subject. “I wasn't picked. There are only two male teachers coming while the rest are females. Aren't you aware of this?” He squinted as if trying to remember something. “Seeing that you're the coordinator of the camp?”“Coordinator?” I
Chapter 47Coming To Camp?Lyla Atelo.I came home with a stupid smile on my face. Sage had made my entire evening and I was just smiling like a fool.“You're back," my husband appeared from the corner of the doorway leading to the kitchen. He wore an apron which suggested that he was cooking.I frowned slightly at the sight of that, while waiting for him to complain that I had come home late.“I'm back, yes.” I smiled a little at him.“And in high spirits as well.” He noted that part, “I hope you had a great day at work.”“I did. How about you?” I shrugged off my shoulder bag which was beginning to get heavy and set it on the table, taking in a deep breath of what he was cooking.“I made dinner. Would you like some?” He noted the actions of my nose before asking, but I shook my head immediately.I knew my husband by now. I could guess what he wanted from me, but I waited for him to say it. Michael never did any nice things for me unless he wanted something in return, and this wasn't
Chapter 46Take Me Home.Lyla Atelo.Sage did not say anything until the car came to a stop in a luxurious shopping mall where he went back to driving mode, parking the car at the exclusive parking lot. He stepped out to open the car for me, taking my arm in his."What are you doing? Where are we going? Why are we here?" I asked him even if I could guess what exactly it was that we were doing here."Shopping." He shrugged. "I saw on the internet that you should take a woman shopping when she is angry. It— ""But I'm not angry. Why would I be?"He gave me a quick look before shutting the car. "Yeah, right, you aren't. But I'm here to apologise anyway."Amidst my protests, Sage had his arms hooked around mine until we reached one of the most expensive jewellery stores in the city."Pick anything you'd like. Diamonds. Gold. Silver. Precious stones. Anything." He said as he signalled one of the sales assistants to come over. The girl gave me a once-over, and she did not hide her displeasu
Chapter 45In The Car.Lyla Atelo."Get In the car, Lyla." Sage's voice came in a little stronger this time as he looked over my shoulders. "Unless you want your colleagues to keep speculating that something is going on between us."Our eyes met when he said that, and I paused to think. Did he also have in mind the same question I had? I wanted to ask if there was actually something going on between us, but I didn't dare voice my question out. I didn't want to sound desperate, but still... something that Michelle said earlier egged me at the back of my mind."What do you think about Ivy?" I averted my gaze from his face and looked down to the tarred road. I looked everywhere else but at him. "Is it true you're into older women, and I'm just one of your conquest?"I suddenly felt the cold night wind hit my skin, and I looked up in alarm to see Sage backing away from him. He stared at me with an emotion I couldn't decipher before spinning his car key between his thumb and index finger.
