“Bitch! It's so simple, yet you can’t do your job?!” Jane's manager slapped the papers on her face as everyone looked in their direction. “It's been what? Seven months, Jane! Yet you kept getting the same error. Always.” She made it worse, shouting how Jane sounded like… an idiot.

“I'm… Sorry, ma'am, I tried to do it, but it's not really my forte and…”

“Yeah, right! Not your forte.” She sneered. “So, is that my problem?” She asked.

Jane almost blurted out yes, since it's not her job to do the marketing department report in the first place, but she pursed her lips and shook her head. “No, ma'am.”

“So why are you saying it? Gosh, you're making it worse. Just tell us if you can't do it, and we can ask someone to do it instead. Useless.” The last words seem like a whisper, almost only for her to hear.

“I'm sorry, ma'am, it won't happen again.” She said it, like a million times. Yet, the same things happened.

“Yeah, right, of course. I won't even hand you a project if I can.” She rolled her eyes at Jane and turned her back to leave.

Jane sighed, and all her co-workers went back to whatever they're doing, for the moon goddess's sake… No one even tried to comfort her, but there's nothing new… It's always like that since she got her job.

She walked towards her desk and silently sat down. She wished to go home and lie on her bed and sleep. Alone, again.

“So, everything will come right?!” One of her co-workers, Safi, excitedly said. It's her warm house party, and she finally got her own house.

Jane bit her lower lip, couldn't stop the jealousy she was feeling since almost all of her co-workers have their own houses here in the middle of New York… When everything is too expensive and fancy… And too much for her.

“I'm in!” Everyone excitedly shouted, except her, of course, and it's not a big deal… They don't even want her to join them in the first place.

“So, uhm… How about you, Jane?” Safi asked, she's a bit reluctant, yet it made Jane's stomach flip.

She shook her head; she appreciated Safi's invitation… In the last minutes, yes. But she knew how to read between the lines.

Some of them did not even put in an effort to hide how relieved they felt when she rejected the invitation in polite manners, of course.

“Oh… Okay then! See you next week, I guess!” Safi cheerfully said as they all walked outside the office.

Only Jane was left, and the silence gave her the peace she yearned for since morning, finally.

But she doesn't want to stay longer in their office either, so she immediately took her bag from her chair and walked towards the exit after a few minutes, when all her co-workers left.

The streetlights and honks from cars were what Jane liked most every time she walked home at night; it gave her an unexplainable feeling.

Well, except for the pitiful whimpering she heard only now.

“What was that?” She held her phone and looked where the sounds came from.

The sound of how to… Loud, and it creeped her out, yet her curiosity got her.

“If something is wrong, I can just run towards the street… It's fine to check what it is.” She convinced herself as she switched on the flashlight on her phone, and she froze as she saw the blood.

Too much blood for her not to feel afraid, she's not ready to witness someone get murdered… Not in this lifetime, she already got enough.

Another whimper echoed.

“Still alive… I… I need to help them.” She convinced herself again as she stepped another one closer to it. “Huh?” Her eyes widened, almost choking from the nervousness she felt earlier.

“A… Dog?” But it's too big for a dog…

The fur is all white, and his eyes are golden, but before she could think, her body had already moved on its own…

“Hey, what happened to you, poor cutie?” She asked as he carefully checked the wound. She needed to do something.

“I… will take you home, okay?” She said even though she knows that it most likely won't understand her at all...
