Alexander’s POV

Charlie was covered in cuts, bruises and swellings. I’m certain she had broke something. I was willing to kill her father on the spot but hearing Charlie’s cries made me stop, my wolf just wanted to attend to her needs. Instead I threatened him, it was obvious he knew I was a wolf as he screwed his nose up at me, sniffing me, he knew I did not mean a lawyer.

As I slipped my arms carefully under Charlie’s body, I felt every little bit of pain she was feeling, I wish she was healing but the long term effects of wolfsbane meant it could take years for it to leave her system. I held her close to me and charged towards the man everyone once new as Damon Blackheart.

He did not hesitate to move out of the way as I carried my mate towards him, allowing us to pass without even challenging me. Moving down the stairs carefully I noticed how the house stank, stale beer, cigarette smoke and urine. I could not understand how my mate had put up with it for so long. Lowering her in the passenger seat, she winced and I carefully pulled the seatbelt around her.

Charlie asks me to grab her phone but I wanted to get her to a doctor as soon as possible and tell her I will get her a new one, I was slightly taken aback by the frown she gave me. I call the packs doctor giving him all the details of the injuries I could see, there was definitely more under her damaged clothes. He told me to keep her as comfortable as can be and that it might be worth grabbing her some sleeping tablets to help with the journey.

Hanging up, Charlie then begs me to not take her to a hospital and I tell her I will take her to someone the family knows, I failed to admit it would be my twin brother.

As I reversed out the driveway Damon appeared in the driveway, staring at me, his fists clenched in anger at how easily I was taking his daughter away from him, the very girl that he was using as a punchbag. Charlie’s eyes were thankfully closed, I did not want her to see him, not after all the problems he had caused her.

I turned on the radio, I noticed in the library that she had been trying to listen to her music and figured it might help relax her. I was trying to drive as fast as I could and being careful to avoid any potholes but anytime we hit an unexpected bump she would whimper and it felt like my heart was breaking. Everything she was feeling, I could feel it radiating through me. I was not sure whether it was because I had alpha blood or because she was my mate or possibly both.

Throughout the drive I knew she wasn’t asleep, she just had her eyes closed, every so often her brow wrinkled into a small frown. I tell her she doesn’t need to feel guilty and that her father did not deserve to have her as a daughter. She stares at me telling me they gave her a home. I was astonished that she felt that was a reason for why he was allowed to beat her, she would not accept that he was likely going to kill her.

Finally a small shopping centre appeared, parking up I tell her to stay inside and that I would grab some fuel and some paracetamol for her to try and help. I watch as she closes her eyes again and fuel up the jeep. I pay and then head into the pharmacy next door and grab some sleeping tablets and painkillers as well as bottle of water.

Thankfully when I get back in, she happily takes the pills I give her and chucks them back her throat. They were strong and she was out in minutes. As we hit the road again, I call ahead to my brother, we were only about an hour out now and he was certain she would still be out for the count by the time we arrived and told me to bring her straight to the pack hospital so he can get her checked out. The very idea of him looking at my mate made my skin crawl.

Charlie continues to whimper throughout the drive but she remains asleep. I had already stopped once more to lay her seat back so she was laid down, hoping she would be more comfortable, when I arrived at our pack hospital my brother was already waiting outside with a bed.

Before giving me a chance to get out the car, he was pulling open the passenger door and lifting her out on to the bed, anger raced through my veins at how brazen he was being.

My brother Max pushes the bed inside as I follow and begins checking her out, he tells me he will have to cut her clothes off as he could not risk any further injury to her by moving her too much. I was not going to leave her alone especially if she was going to be naked and I told him as much.

Max told me that he did not have time for games and that if he did not do something now the chances are a rib was going to pierce one of Charlies lungs and he ushers me out the room against my will. A nurse joins my brother and through the window I can see them cutting off her clothes.

I had to keep it together, now was not the time to try and assert my dominance over my brother, Charlie’s life was at risk. After about an hour Max walked out the room, informing me of all her injuries. Her father had really done a number on her and what was worse is that she did not even have her wolf to fight back.

He tells me that she will need to stay a few days and then she would be okay to move although she may still be unconscious as he had put her on heavy pain meds. I looked through the window, a cast surrounded her left arm, the bed sheet was folded down to her waist showing her bandaged chest and torso, under the sheet I knew there was some stitching on her legs and glue strips sat on her forehead.

At least I got her away from him in time.

  • My Alpha (Book One)   Author's note

Thank you so much for reading everyone, I really appreciate it and would be grateful for any reviews or feedback. I have really enjoyed writing this book and loved every moment of it, but the story is far from over and book two will be coming out soon following Charlie’s quest in finding her hybrid mother and discovering what happens with Alpha Zach as well as what it means to be Queen of the Lycans. Does Charlie find her way back to Max or does she choose Alpha Zach? Will Max stand by his vow? Only time will tell.

  • My Alpha (Book One)   Chapter Seventy-seven

Max’s POVDamon’s pack had retreated, many had lost their lives from both packs and as the survivors helped the worst wounded, I started to look for Charlie. She was nowhere to be seen along with Alpha Zach, some of the guards inform me that she went inside the packhouse.Entering the house, there was a lot of commotion and I follow the sound to the bedroom Kiwi was being locked in. The door was wide open and as I stepped through the doorway I was shocked to see Alpha Zach, Kiwi who was sitting up on the floor and Charlie who was holding Damon’s head, blood splattered across her face whilst his body was crumpling to the floor. As soon as she sees me, she drops his head which rolls across the floor, stopping inches from my feet, his eyes wide open in fear. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Alexander had said her killing was brutal, yet a part of me didn’t believe it until now, but she literally just pulled a mans head off his bod

  • My Alpha (Book One)   Chapter Seventy-six

Charlie’s POV The fight continues and yet I still have not seen my father, he would be easy to spot as he looks exactly like me. The Lycans were mostly dark colours when shifted and were easy to spot, a little difficult to figure out who was fighting who but my father was definitely not among them which made me anxious. Alpha Zach links me “Have you seen Damon?” The main idea with me staying higher up and in the centre was because I would be the only one to recognise his Lycan a jet black wolf exactly like myself. “No, not yet” “Keep looking” and he drops the link. Being able to hear the Lycans was odd and I hadn’t told Max yet, as far as he was concerned, he was the only one that could speak to me because we had mated and honestly I wanted to keep it that way for as long as possible. I scan the horizon, bodies were littered everywhere, Wolves, Lycans and some in their human form, but still, my father was nowhere to be seen. What was h

  • My Alpha (Book One)   Chapter Seventy-five

Charlie’s POVI couldn’t think, I couldn’t eat and I barely slept. Life without Alexander was horrible, he had saved me from a life of hell, always around to cheer me up, put a smile on my face and make me laugh when Max was being all serious and now, now he was gone.I had slept in his bed for three nights in a row, his scent still lingered on his bed but as each day passed, it began to fade and I was worried I was losing him, Gypsy had been giving me the silent treatment as she blamed me for distracting him.Max had tried to convince me to come back to his room but all I wanted was for Alexander to be back. Not having him here was breaking my heart over and over and i felt physically sick. The few times I had left the room I had bumped into Alpha Zach, he never said a word and just bowed his head at me but each and every time, his scent nearly knocked me off of my feet and I wondered if he knew. The fourth night I headed back to

  • My Alpha (Book One)   Chapter Seventy-four

Max’s POVThere was nothing I could do, I had spent years training and learning about the werewolf form to protect and help everyone in my pack but as I try to stop the flow of blood from my brothers open wound, I knew it was too late, she had pierced his heart and there would be no coming back from that.Whilst Alpha Zach keeps Kayla at bay and forces her to shift back, I focus on making my brother as comfortable as possible in his final stages. Even when I hear him tell Charlie he loved her, it didn’t change how I loved my brother and a part of me felt like it was slowly fading.Deep down I knew he was still mated to her and if that is what he wanted his final words to be then I was going to let him have it.Charlie held on to Alexander’s hands, sobbing uncontrollably. In some ways she probably felt like her mate bond with him was breaking and she needed closure. As Alexander takes his final breaths and his eyes close, Charlie t

  • My Alpha (Book One)   Chapter Seventy-three

Alexander’s POVI don’t like these men, it was a mistake for Max to invite them here and I could see the way that Alpha Zach looked at Charlie, especially after he called her their Queen. After Max had told them to make themselves at home, the omegas led them away to show the men their rooms, they would be staying in the packhouse with us.“I don’t trust him Max”Max rolls his eyes at me “Look, we need help okay, we cannot take down Damon alone, this has to be why Kiwi wrote his name on the wall, she must be trying to help us in some weird way”“She also wrote down Charlie’s mothers name, do you think she is going to make an appearance too” I was trying to make Max see sense but if we suddenly turned the guests away now, then they would probably attack us.Max sighs, something he was doing a lot lately, “I am trying to do what I think is best for us, for the pack”&ldquo
