“Aku lapar, makan temani aku makan, Nis,” ajak sang suami.
Anisa menurut, ia menemani sang suami makan.
“Apa Ibu membuat kamu lelah?” tanya Wisnu.
Wisnu mencoba menangkannya.
“Sampai kapan, Mas? Aku lelah seperti itu,” ujar Anisa.
Wisnu hanya bergeming, sampai kapan pun ia paham jika sang ibu tidak akan berbaik hati selama Anisa belum memiliki anak. Apalagi sang ibu sangat menginginkan keturunan. Wisnu tak melanjutkan pembicaraan dan kembali makan.

“Cuh, kamu mau bikin darah tinggi mama semakin tinggi, masak kok asin,” oceh Bu Atik.
Tapi jangan terus menerus memarahi aku. Aku punya batas kesabaran!”
“E—eh kamu pintar bantah Ibu, ya. Mau Ibu usir kamu dari rumah ini?” Bu Atik kembali mengoceh, ia sangat kesal dengan Anisa.
“Sudah, Bu. Sudah, Nis. Aku pusing melihat kalian bertengkar,” ujar Wisnu.
“Kamu mengerti sikap Ibu?”
“Mas, sebelum Ibu tinggal bersama kita, semuanya baik-baik saja. Bukannya aku durhaka tak mau di tumpangi, tapi sikap ibu bikin aku sakit hati, Mas.” Anisa kembali menegaskan kalau dirinya begitu sakit hati.
Mulut pedas ibu mertuanya kembali menorehkan luka.
Anisa mencengkeram ujung baju, ia merasa sudah tak kuat lagi. Apalagi selalu menyakiti hatinya.
“Ibu bersihkan sendiri, aku lelah. Apa susahnya,” ujar Anisa.
“Heh, kamu pikir bayar orang enggak mahal?”
“Lalu, ibu pikir tenaga aku gratis? Ak ih juga capek, Bu. Belum kelar satu, ibu sudah berteriak. Anisa, Anisa, Anisa. Bisa enggak sih, enggak narik urat terus. Hati-hati darah tinggi naik dan cepat mati,” ujar Anisa. Ia berlalu dari hadapan ibu mertuanya.
“Heh, Anisa! Kamu doain ibu cepat mati? Dasar menantu enggak tahu sopan santun!” Bu Atik menahan amarah.
Anisa tak sanggup lagi, ia memilih berontak dari sikap ibunya. Sementara, Wisnu pun menghampiri Anisa lagi. Ia mencoba menenangkan sang istri lagi.
“Apalagi, Mas?”
Stop Mas, jangan bahas masalah anak lagi. Atau kita lakukan saja bayi tabung,” ujar Anisa.
“Stop!”

The seven of them stood around the twin pyres in silence, watching the flames climb high into the sky, the wood splitting and crackling under the heat. The yellow of the flames reflected in each of their faces, sorrow and loss weighing down their steady gazes.Lady Valda's eyes were ringed with red once again, only this time the tears did not fall - she would never cry in the presence of Lord Rhonan, regardless of how she felt toward Lance and Megan. No, she had already cried in front of Sephora and Lord Daemon when she'd come out from seeing the healer, and that had been enough for the Winged Lady. There had been worry as to why her wing still hadn't healed 12 hours after she'd been hit by Vince's spear of darkness. Turns out he hadn't just shot through her bone in her wing, but through some vital arteries as well. Her accelerated healing had stopped her from bleeding out altogether, but in doing so had stopped the blood getting to the important muscles in her wing that helped her to
