Mara’s POV

The next day, Kayla came to see me and she brought food for me. I saw how vibrant she was and got envious of her.

She had not a scratch on her. She was safe from whatever I had tried doing to her and I suddenly felt a weight on me which told me that I had messed up by almost killing her.

As she left, I had the urge to call her back but my ego refused me in doing so. I would go down with this ship.

I was not going to apologize to someone who had tried stealing my man. She deserved the worst treatment on this planet and I would make sure I gave it to her if I had another chance to do it.

But that was only the beginning as soon I started to feel a certain way inside for my secret was beginning to weigh me down.

The weight of my secret was becoming unbearable, a heavy burden that weighed me down with each passing day.
