Chapter 4

Yvonne's social feed updated.

In the photo, a large hand rested gently on her belly as she smiled sweetly at the camera.

"The pup keeps kicking me. Daddy says he'll have a good talk with him once he's born."

A happy family of three, I thought to myself in silence.

It was the final day before the wedding, and Alpha Martin still hadn't come home.

He messaged me:

"Simona, the project is too complicated. I can't get away for now."

"But don't worry—I'll definitely be there for the wedding."

I counted down the final hours left in the villa, looking around and saying goodbye without a word.

Just then, Butler Warren gently knocked on my door, holding a bowl of chicken soup.

"Miss Simona, have a little soup."

"You haven't been eating much lately. You'll wear yourself out."

The rich aroma filled the room, and a wave of warmth rose in my chest.

"Thank you, Warren."

He'd watched both Alpha Martin and me grow up. With a sigh full of sentiment, he said,

"After all these years, Alpha Martin and Miss Simona are finally getting married."

"True love wins in the end. Congratulations, Miss Simona."

I didn't answer, just took a sip. The salty taste on my tongue wasn't just the broth—it was the tears dripping into it, one by one.

"Warren, I'd like to be alone for a while."

I forced back the lump in my throat and asked him to leave.

My phone buzzed—Yvonne sent an impatient voice message.

"Simona, are you playing games with me?"

"You're marrying Martin tomorrow, and you still haven't given me a solid answer."

I sent her the wedding location and the planner's contact info. I even reminded her kindly,

"I've spoken with the planner. She'll help you get dressed and send you straight to the venue."

"The rest is up to you."

Through the speaker, I heard Alpha Martin's familiar, gentle voice.

"Yvonne, who are you talking to?"

"Didn't you say your leg was sore? Let me give you a massage."

I quickly ended the call, but his tenderness toward Yvonne echoed in my head.

So… he could be that patient and gentle with someone else, too.

I couldn't sleep and forced myself to wait until sunrise.

No one else in the villa was awake when I grabbed my light suitcase and took a taxi to the airport.

As for Yvonne, she was probably already in the bridal car by now.

I'd bought the earliest flight. Half an hour after arriving, I was already going through security.

Suddenly, my phone buzzed nonstop—Alpha Martin was calling.

His panicked voice came through.

"Simona, when did you find out about Yvonne?"

A staff member helped me check in my luggage and pointed me toward the gate.

"Miss, please board through this gate."

The silence on the line was heavy. Martin's voice turned hoarse.

"Where are you right now?"

A loud crash came through the speaker—glass shattering.

Then Alpha Martin completely lost control and roared,

"Simona! Where the hell are you?!"

Belle held me in her arms, her hand gently patting my arm in comfort. I didn't say a word. Just reached for the bottles lined up on the counter. Screw the taste. I wanted numbness. Numbness was better than this clawing ache in my chest."Alpha Martin, you know what's funny?" My voice cracked halfway through, but I kept going, eyes locked on his face like I could burn the truth into him. "Yvonne wasn't the only one, was she?"His wolf flinched. I saw it—just a flicker in his golden eyes, but it was there."Before her, there were others. And I kept wondering, every damn day—did you stop loving me? Did you ever love me at all? But every time you came back, you'd hold me like nothing happened, whisper how I was the only one. That I was your forever mate."I let out a bitter laugh that sounded more like a growl. "I started drinking just to sleep. My wolf couldn't rest when yours was off with someone else."Martin's hand clenched around a photo like he was trying to crush the past. Belle st

I'll never forget how Alpha Martin once held me tenderly by the waist, watching the sunset over the ocean with me.Back then, I told myself that as long as Alpha Martin was willing to love me, I could forget all the unhappiness. It was also here, in this very place, that he made a vow—to love me and only me, for the rest of our lives. His expression softened. Clearly, he remembered too.He moved slowly, carefully edging closer to me."Simona, I remember," he said."At Blue Moon Pack, you gave me your first kiss… and your first night.""I swore to the sea that I'd love you forever."His tone grew emotional as he tightly interlocked his fingers with mine."Now that we're back at Blue Moon Pack… can't we pretend none of that ever happened?""Please, Simona. Just give me one more chance."I looked into his earnest eyes—and couldn't help but laugh."Alpha Martin, you can pretend nothing happened.""But what about me?"The atmosphere froze again. I knew it—he was going to dodge the question

I yanked my hand away from Alpha Martin's grip and walked straight into the room, silently protesting. The room faced the ocean—outside the window was a beautiful sea view. Alpha Martin came up behind me and gently wrapped his arms around my waist."Simona," he whispered, his breath brushing my ear, "I remember you love the sea. I booked this room just for you. The moment you open your eyes, you'll see the deep blue ocean."My entire spine stiffened. That bitter ache in my chest surged up and took control.I shoved him off so hard he stumbled back a few steps, and I spun to face him, my voice rising with every word. "Alpha Martin, I never liked the ocean!"His brows pulled together in confusion, like I was speaking in tongues."Have you forgotten?" I shouted, pointing toward the window. "I once fell into the sea—I have thalassophobia!"My wolf whimpered at the memory.I was twenty. Martin had taken me on a cruise with his elite little Alpha club. I told him I wasn't feeling great, an

Alpha Martin said I loved the ocean, but the truth was—it was his favorite, not mine. He forced his preferences onto me, making them mine by default. Suddenly, I felt exhausted. I lowered my head and sighed helplessly. "Martin, let me go. Think of it as setting yourself free too." "This kind of back-and-forth… it's just meaningless now."Alpha Martin acted like he didn't hear me. He clutched my wrist tightly, terrified I'd slip out of his grasp again. Pain shot through my arm, and I frowned in discomfort.Noticing it, Alpha Martin quickly called the front desk to ask for allergy medicine. Then he crouched beside me, resting his head on my knee. "Simona, I'll tell Yvonne to get rid of the pup, okay?" "Don't be mad at me because of this—it's all my fault."Ever since I was stabbed and lost the ability to have children, Alpha Martin had never brought up pups in front of me. Everyone in our circle urged him not to waste his life on one woman. "Carrying on your bloodline i

Alpha Martin was breathing hard, his fingers trembling uncontrollably. He was holding me so tightly I couldn't breathe—I pounded his shoulder with all my strength. "Martin, let me go… I can't breathe…"His eyes were red, and cold tears fell onto the back of my hand. His breath was shaking. As if desperate to prove something, Alpha Martin pulled out his phone and showed me a video from our wedding day.In the video, when the officiant announced the bride's entrance, Alpha Martin looked toward the aisle, eyes filled with happiness. But when Yvonne appeared instead, the entire crowd gasped.Alpha Martin's expression turned feral as he threw the microphone aside and charged at Yvonne like a wild beast. "What are you doing here?" "Where's Simona? What did you do to her?"Yvonne, gently caressing her slightly rounded belly, giggled and threw herself into his arms. "Martin, didn't you want to marry me?" "Simona said she was willing to give you up. You're mine now, and I'm your

I didn't want to argue with him anymore. Not with my wolf pacing inside me, frustrated and fed up. She'd had enough of his half-truths and full-blown lies. Me too.So, I turned off my phone and headed toward the boarding gate.As the plane took off, I looked out the window and felt—lighter. Freer. My wolf gave a low, satisfied huff. That was something.Meanwhile, back on the ground, Alpha Martin was losing what little was left of his composure.According to the poor airport staff later, he grabbed one of them by the collar, voice booming through the terminal like thunder."Stop it! Stop that plane right now!"But… no one stops a commercial aircraft, even if you are an alpha. From my window seat, I saw him.Martin.Running across the tarmac like a madman, his suit jacket flapping behind him, hair wind-whipped, desperation etched into every line of his face."Simona, come back!" he shouted."I was wrong—please! Give me a chance to explain!"But the plane climbed higher, the clouds swallo
