The day I go wedding dress shopping with my best friend, Alice Wilson, I catch her fiance and his female friend getting intimate inside the fitting room. I rush over to tell Alice, only to get a hard slap across the face. "I know you're jealous I'm marrying into wealth, but I never thought you'd make up such vile lies about my boyfriend! He and Fiona are just best friends. How could he ever do something like that?" Despite my desperate warnings and pleas, she marries Matthew Price anyway. She even posts about me online. "My best friend of over a decade turned out to be the one who couldn't stand seeing me happy." The post goes viral, exposing me to a barrage of relentless hate. Everyone brands me a toxic friend. Matthew holds a grudge against me for exposing his affair with Fiona and hires someone to ruin me. As I try to escape in a panic, I get hit by a car and die on the spot. When I open my eyes again, I am right back to the day I was helping Alice try on wedding dresses. From inside the fitting room, those same scandalous sounds ring out once more.

Chapter 1

"Sophia, what took you so long?" My best friend, Alice Wilson, complained the moment she saw me.

As I looked up at her standing on the fitting platform in a gorgeous wedding dress, my emotions churned inside.

Just ten minutes ago, fresh off my rebirth, I had overheard her fiance, Matthew Price, making out with his female friend, Fiona Lane, in the adjacent dressing room again.

My immediate impulse was to run back and tell Alice, but the memory of my past life's tragic end froze me in my tracks.

Then, Fiona's coy, seductive voice drifted out from the fitting room. "Are you really going to play Alice's explicit photos at the wedding?"

My heart skipped a beat as I heard Matthew chuckle indifferently. "Anything to make you happy. Besides, once I have that over her, she'll be way easier to control. We still have a use for her, after all."

Fiona giggled. "You're terrible. Thank goodness I'm not the one marrying you."

"Sophia, you look terrible. What's wrong?" Alice's question snapped me back to reality.

Meeting her uneasy gaze, I almost blurted out everything I'd just heard.

But as the words hovered on the tip of my tongue, memories of my past life flooded back.

When Matthew's thugs were brutally violating me, Alice had stood right there, watching with cold indifference.

Pinned to the floor, I had wept and screamed, begging her to save me and to call the police.

However, she didn't lift a finger. "That's what you get for spreading rumors about my husband. You asked for this. Just let him blow off some steam, and it'll be over."

A wave of hatred washed over me. I swallowed the truth, forced a faint smile, and held up the veil in my hand. "It's nothing. I got the veil. Here, try it on."

Alice shook her head softly, glancing anxiously toward the door with a deep frown. "Where's Matthew? Why hasn't he come over yet? Did you see him when you were out there?"

I paused for a split second, then offered a resolute answer. "Nope."

It didn't take long for Matthew to show up, though. His hair was slightly rumpled, and his blazer was buttoned up wrong.

Alice caught it immediately and let out an annoyed click of her tongue. "What is wrong with the staff here? They took forever, and not only is your hair a mess, but they can't even button a blazer right!"

She turned to me, furious. "Sophia, go find the manager. I want to file a complaint!"

Upon hearing that, Matthew stepped in hurriedly to soothe her. "It's fine. Calm down, babe. I was just rushing back to see my beautiful bride."

As Alice gazed into his deliberately affectionate eyes, her anger vanished into thin air. She tapped his chest playfully. "Such a smooth talker."

Watching them lock in a sweet embrace, I felt nothing but a sharp, absurd irony.

Yet, I said nothing.

Since Alice trusted this scumbag so blindly and was so hell-bent on marrying him, I wasn't going to stand in her way this time.
